Hello wonderful people, I'd like to add a few comments I forgot to mention in the video: 1) I will do another wear test with the prep and prime, with only the liner (to see if that makes a difference). 2) I wanted to include a section on Kohl, but it would have made my video even longer. There are a lot of differences compared to "normal" eyeliner, but one of them is that kohl is a lot softer, very pigmented and traditionally, great for smudging and creating a smoky eye. I know this, but my comments and observations were based on my experience of wearing it and the description "budge-proof, transfer-resistant, waterproof with 16-hours wear".There is also a cultural and spiritual aspect to it but if you want to know more, I would recommend doing your own research. 3) Though the pencil is soft, it does not wear down easily, unlike many other soft pencils. For example, I used the pencils several times (applying pressure) to do different swatches and wear tests, but I have yet to sharpen them. Though soft, it doesn't require sharpening after every use, especially if you use my tip ☺ Thanks for your ongoing support, and I hope you find this video helpful! ❤❤❤
I had exactly the same issue as you. I have dry skin but hooded eyes and slightly oily eyelids. I prepped in the same way as you just did and it transferred and didn’t set in the way they suggested. I had Ground Coffee and Renaissance Gold. V disappointed.
@@sarahhughes8729 Hi Sarah, thank you for your comment. I think we have a similar skin type and eyelids. I think the darker shades are definitely not budge or smudge-proof. Renaissance Gold being the lightest shade, performs the best out of all six shades but even then, it's not completely smudge-proof on oilier lids. Sorry to hear it didn't wear well on you, either. I'm so glad you did this review. I bought two of these pencils, Ground Coffee and Burnt Umber. Both of these smudge, smear and transfer on me so badly. After an hour of wear, I looked like I'd been crying... it was honestly the worst pencil liner I'd ever tried! As you say, if it was marketed differently, that would be another matter. But they're being sold as smudge proof and water proof, which they most certainly are not. She also keeps hammering the point that they set after 45 seconds, they absolutely do not, not on me anyway. I used mine in the same manner I use all my eyeliner pencils, with a primer, and lined on my top and bottom lash line, and these just did NOT stick at all. I contacted their customer service as well like you did, and they offered me the same tips as you received (which is weird because non of these tips were mentioned in her video when demo-ing them) - and they still didn't work for me. So I actually received a full refund for mine as they're completely useless to me :( SUCH a shame because I absolutely adore all her other products!! I really hope this feedback is taken on board and a re-formulation happens, as I'd REALLY love for these to work!
Hello, I'm so sorry to hear you had a similar experience to me! In honesty, I try to buy the entire collection or at least a couple of items from every launch in the hope that it will help people. I know many people held off from buying and have now decided not to purchase after watching my video and after speaking to others with similar problems. Crap 😢I have really oily eyelids. I bought 1 shade just in case and now I’m not hopeful at all ☹️ I’m not interested in adding another step to my makeup routine like a primer, why can’t eyewear just stay put!
I’m wearing Green Forest for the first time today as a normal eyeliner and in the top waterline. I feel like I’m back in 1995 with grunge eyes. Tomorrow I’ll try only as a normal eyeliner and hope it will not transfer to grunge look😂 It reminds me of the eyeliner from Victoria Beckham. By the way. I really appreciate your honest reviews. I have a huge love for Lisa Eldridge makeup, but also want to stay critical. We spend a lot of money on makeup, so it better be perfect.

@@theeditbydh Yes. Now I have worn it as only an eyeliner and no waterlines. It’s pretty awful. I’ve written to the Lisa Eldridge Team to ask for advice, but I’ve tried with primer and eyeshadow to set as well with no luck. I actually hope, they will do a refund. The last experiment will be a VERY small amount as a normal eyeliner smudged out for the purpose of the feeling of grunge. But that’s not my most used look🙃 I have the Victoria Beckham in Surf Side (or Sea Surf ? - a clear green) and that one works as a normal eyeliner. Not in waterlines.

I was so excited for these as they looked so similar to the Victoria Bekham ones but as someone with extremely sensitive eyes that are watery, these ended up being a mess on me! Within the first two hours the black treacle shade was half way down my face. These are a huge let down for me 🫠🥴

I bought Burnt Umber and Renaissance Gold last week and have worn them both twice, Burnt Umber to tightline my upper waterline and Renaissance Gold along top and bottom lashes. I've experienced no issues at all and I'm really happy with them. 😊 Love the colours and the formula.
Hello! I predicted that RG would last the best out of all the shades in the collection as it's the lightest shade. Normally lighter shades perform well, and the darker ones don't. That's why I did a wear test with Black Treacle on the first day, which failed miserably. I'm so glad that it has lasted well for you, that's most important so that you feel you got your money's worth 😉xxx
I do have dry skin and yet..... when I was in my mid 50's I got the "oily eyelids" .... OMG I have never had shadows crease or mascara smudge but I can now! I do love Urban Decay's pencil 24/7 eyeliners and I have them in the Boring Colours - like Lisa's ! lol As I have gotten older I do love the "Boring" makeup so I guess if someone who does not suffer from oily lids and is my age - they will love Lisa's eyeliners but I feel they will go the same way as they did on your eyes if I buy them. I am sticking to urban Decay and I don't mind using a sharpener . :) Looking lovely Deb !!! XXX

Thank you for an honest and fair review as always. The fact that the pencils require sharpening did put me off a bit, like you I much prefer no hassle twist pencils. The colours are a bit underwhelming but I'm hoping that Lisa will add to the range - maybe a couple of brighter jewel shades for Christmas? I love a soft smooth basic cool brown eyeliner so I will probably give it a go. The look you created is so pretty it's such a shame the transfer issues let you down.

You are so talented and easy to follow. Thank you for the great tips and insights! I have had issues finding liners since I am sensitive to carmine (bloodshot eyes!) so I was happy these do not contain carmine. But I have issues with smudging routinely so these may be tricky for me.

New subscriber…you got me with this review! Your thoroughness and detail are so very appreciated! I have sensitive eyes…so I will stick with my Make eyeliners. The downside is they have a VERY quick dry down - so you need to work fast. The upside is the built in brush - brilliant - as well as the fact that they really are budge proof. Thanks again!

“Giving is my love language” - such a lovely sentiment. I ordered Cinder Smoke and Renaissance Gold. I wish Cinder Smoke had a touch more shimmer like the VBB satin kajal in Sea Grey. I do love the smoky effect of both though. (I would have liked to have had a sharpener included.)
Such a good review thank you! Great tip on sharpening a tip with tissue or paper. This is the first Lisa product I dont think I will buy, I already find her eyeshadows smudge on me, pretty sure these will be a complete mess (my eyes aren't oily either). I also think they are a bit steeply priced, just under the VB ones, but the VB pricing is generally higher than Lisa's so I am surprised.

It's always great to hear your thoughts on new Lisa Eldridge products. I was starting to get mad at you being overly generous with your giveaways, but then you were so sweet when you talked about how much you love gift-giving that I guess I have to allow you to continue. 😙 (I will get to make some more friends on Instagram though as five as always a stretch 😅) I have my eye on Renaissance Gold and Ground Coffee but I'm going to go see them in store first. Personally I like the initial shade range leaning dark; I love the idea of black alternatives that give a softer but still defined look in colours that might suit people better than straightforward black. And I love that there is a neutral-to-cool brown; I was afraid there would only be a warm one, like Burnt Umber, which would be too red for me. Surely more vivid colours will follow later. Even before your video I had zero faith that they will be smudge- or budge-proof on my eyes, especially my waterline, because I've never found a product that doesn't leave me a gothic mess within hours 😂. Even though I have the opposite of oily lids - mine would make the Sahara seem damp. I was surprised by just how much it smudged on you though. I completely agree, it's better not to make any promises about being budge- or waterproof if you can't 100% deliver. Then you're just setting people up for disappointment and the product up to seem like it's failing when it might otherwise be great. It's a bummer if she's stopped doing the gift with purchase make up bag. I think that Selfridges has an exclusive one, but IIRC the minimum spend was £90. Don't get me wrong, it's very easy to drop that on Lisa's products, but I'd be less likely to do it in store when I might just buy one product at a time. Did you pick up that one when you were there? Have you been to the new counter at Liberty yet?

I went to Liberty yesterday to check out Renaissance Gold and was fully intending to buy it but I couldn't ignore your experience with the smudging. I realised that it looks a lot like Anais applied over a black or dark brown liner, so I'm just going to do that instead. I already have liners that smudge, I don't need to buy another one that doesn't live up to its promises! So I've talked myself out of it for now, but we'll see how long my resolve lasts

Hello Dasha, I really like the Chanel Stylo Yeux one (for my waterline), although someone commented that the Lancome one is better. Several people also commented that the UD 24/7 one is also really good. I use the Huda Beauty (dark brown) and Rare Beauty liquid liners. I also love the Bobbi Brown PERFECTLY DEFINED GEL EYELINER in Scotch, which is my absolute fave. Nars long-wearing pencils are also great, although I haven't used them in a while. I hope that helps! I’m guessing VBB as similar texture or PML. I purchased night forest and renaissance gold. If I like them then I was thinking of getting snider smoke. As well, I like dark so the colours work for me especially for a first launch. I was hoping that she would have added a navy blue, again dark but to me a great staple piece. I’m concerned that these smudged as they did. I’m wondering if putting them in the fridge first would help? I know crazy suggestion and extra work but I’m just curious. Unfortunately, I live in Canada and already paid duty and taxes in addition to the exchange rate so these items are quite costly, basically double the price so I really hope they work for me. Hello Julienne, so sorry to hear about the crazy duty and taxes. In honesty, I don't think making them cold will help with the longevity. I think it could potentially help solidify it for the initial application, but once on and we go about our day-to-day lives, it will function as normal. I wore the RG today, and it was much longer-wearing than the other shades. If you don't have oily lids, I think it should be fine, but if you have oilier lids or live in a hot climate, you'd have to consider these factors. I still love my Dior lipstick, although I only bring it out in carpeted places 😂Thank you so much for watching! xxx
A lot people guessed eyeliners when she showed the pictures of the middle of the pencils. I was hoping she would do her liquid eye colors in matte instead. I don't mind it if they are not waterproof because then it will last better on an oily surface. Someone compared the ingredients to the VB liners and the fact they are 2 ingredients different tells me they will perform in a similar way. Also to set hers apart from VB she could have included a pencil tip brush ( not foam) to the other end. In regards to the "free" pouches, I think a lot of profits from the sale of the products went into renting counter space inside Liberty and Selfridges as well as staffing them. We may not see them again.

I agree that these lean toward the traditional/boring but I’m sure colour offerings will be expanded. I've just received the gold and green today and they are very nice ! I have to say that these pencils are VERY similar to the victoria beckham pencils ...Will be wearing these over the next few days and hopefully they are every bit as good as Mrs beckhams !!❤

I must admit this is the first Lisa Eldridge product launch, that I can easily pass on. I used to buy everything asap, or at least waited to see a couple reviews and then spent some time fighting the "desires" (almost inevitably caving in within a few days lol)... but this launch kind of left me cold... Colors are rather boring, the price is very high (especially given how plain the pencil is, no smudger or brush on the other side, no sharpener included) and now knowing that it isn't as budgeproof as claimed... is really disappointing. I like my tried and tested Shiseido InkArtist Kajals and UD 24/7 pencils, so I think a creamy formula that sets properly isn't impossible to do. I have a suspicion that Lisa isn't as involved with the brand as she was in the beginning, I know she accepted some investor around the time she launched foundation. Perhaps that affected the way the company is run... I truly hope it doesn't turn into another Charlotte Tilbury type of brand (which in my not so humble opinion is the most overhyped, poorly packaged, low quality "luxe" brand in existence). Knowing the investor in question was also involved with CT in the beginning, I am not very optimistic. Thank you for your honest and thorough review, I truly appreciate it. We are the same skin/hair/eyes color, so your videos are extremely helpful to me. I ordered Affair Velveteen after seeing it on you and I couldn't be happier, it suits our coloring surprisingly well! If my experience and opinion then help someone with making a purchase decision, that's my job done ☺I will now look into the Shiseido kajal you mentioned. Several people recommended the UD one, so I'll look into that too. I hardly see any UD stores or counters in London, so may have to purchase online. Don't even get me started on CT 😂Her advertisements, especially around Christmas time (the bloody jingles) are particularly triggering 😂. I agree with pretty much most of your comments. I do think CT has one or two really good products, but the rest is very MEH! There's a reason I don't review her brand on my channel ☺ I'm also so glad you love Affair, I'm sure it looks beautiful on you. I definitely prefer the Velveteen Affair to the lipstick version. This is the first video of yours I have watched and I loved how thorough and conversational you were! I am hoping for comparisons to VBB! I agree that the colors disappointed me slightly, all being black-ish. It’s a good starting lineup, I suppose, but was hoping for something more unique. The dark green most brands come out with always disappointed me but I want a more true green, or more yellow/olive green.

I will skip the launch as I have to use up a grey Lancome and a MAC pencil in my favourite colours grey and dark brown. Both stay put in the waterline which is the purpose I bought them for. I love underlining my top waterline 😊. I suppose and hope you will compare LE to Victoria Beckham. I am especially interested in the grey and blue liner from Victoria 🖤 Edit: I love the boring colours but I consider the grey and green to be very dark. I would love to see a deep blue (sparkling), a burgundy or a plum.

I ordered ground coffee and got it yesterday and tried it today for the first time. I watched your review last night so I was nervous to try it today! I have mega oily eyelids, but my eye savior is the Ulta matte eye primer-oils never break through and keeps my eyes looking perfect all day! If you haven’t tried that eye primer (don’t know if you have access to Ulta?), I *highly* recommend. Anyway, thanks to your review, I also set the eye primer (which I don’t normally do) and ground coffee lasted all day with no smudging or transfer! 🙌 But I see what you mean about the formula being a bit too liquify/smooth. I have moderate experience using liner, so I was able to get a good result, but I can totally see how someone could have a lot of trouble controlling it… Did you notice that the cap feels different from the lip pencils? I was surprised, kept feeling like I wasn’t getting it on all the way. Anyway, thanks as always for your reviews!!
Hello, thank you for watching! I was so hopeful about the eye primer but sadly, we don't have access to Ulta here, unless it's stocked in a niche store somewhere. I will be sure to look out for it if I go to the States or know someone who does. If Ground Coffee lasted all day on your oily eyelids, the Ulta eye primer must be pure magic 😂 I did notice about the caps but for me, it feels secure so I didn't mention anything in the video. I like the Lancôme pencils over the Chanel ones but my go-to are the PM ones. I bet you are going to compare these to VBB. Those smudged on me like crazy. Like you, I have oilier eyelids but mine are also hooded. The VBB bronze didn’t smudge as much on me as the darker ones. I was so excited to see LE Renaissance gold because I found VBB Bronze too dark but then was disappointed to hear about the black base. Unfortunately I have to pass on this launch and hope PM releases more colors. Love your video

Thanks for the honest review, it's hard criticizing someone like LE. I too miss the bag it made each buy very fun and special. I must admit that i no longer buy all her releases, however when i heard about the pencils I got really excited as i am addicted to VB eyeliner (i assume that the company you talked about 😅😅) and i hoped to have an alternative. First i think that VB has so much more interesting colors that really flatter the eyes. I was surprised not to be that excited from LE as she knows colors so well ( that is why I keep buying her lipsticks although they all break on me) .i bought umber as i am looking for this color since marc jacobs closed and forest green as i wanted a blackened green ,not bright. However if it smudges it really a no go. I also think that you get a better deal with VB and you can get sometime discount or free shipping. After this long declaration i will continue by saying i prefer twist ups as the last longer and never dry out

I have almost ALL her lipsticks and liquid lipsticks her foundation and liquid highlighters! So when this came out I ordered day 1! But it was a fail for me unfortunately although creamy it was a huge mess on my watery eyes absolutely not budge proof whatsoever Lisa i stand by you but this product is just not for my sensitive eyes I will finish up my pencil but won’t repurchase 😢

Her last bag was the Pompadour one, which she released last year for her holiday collection. She only launches velvet bags with velvet lipstick releases (so always in autumn/winter). Her last linen bag available on-line was the aquamarine which she launched with her summer pinks collection in 2019 (if I remember correctly). All these bags have been available here and there through the years. My guess is she ordered a very large quantity has been selling them/giving them away until they sold out, but they were never meant to be permanent. Maybe she will release a new velvet bag this year, who knows? Also, she released another linen pouch which was only available in Selfridges. I was hoping that when she stocked Velvet Bloom on her website she'd also sell the pouch, but alas, she did not. Again, it could be available in the future, who knows?

I was wondering if they are similar to VBB liners because they smudge horribly on me, and it sounds like they are basically the same which is a shame. So I guess I'm saving some money here.
@@theeditbydh I would say the VB ones I have are "wetter", apart from the Smoky Quartz shade which I find to be more firm than the others in the range.
I have ordered the sorcery palette and a couple of pencils. I am very NOT good with eye pencils, I am a beginner. And overly sensitive when trying to draw a line. The Sisley (plum shade mostly) pencils have worked great as they glide on relatively easily. I therefore have high expectations from these LE pencils in terms of ease of the slide. I shall wait & see.
Hello! The Sorcery palette is SO gorgeous! Sometimes, I just take it out of my makeup drawer to marvel at the colours like a loser 😂 I'm not necessarily the biggest bright colours fan (for eyes), but there's something about Sorcery that is like the name, very hypnotising. I’m a longtime Lisa Eldridge fan and will continue to be, but in Canada one eyeliner will cost Canadians approximately $51 dollars per pencil, and that’s before the duties & taxes of $23 or more. I’ve paid 28 at most. It’s just out of this single mothers reach which kind of breaks my heart. Thanks! Take care!

The formula seems to be more like MAC eye kohls which are very creamy but doesn’t really set and smudges. I used to really love MAC's Teddy but did not repurchase as I tend to rub my eyes and a smudgey formula seems like a recipe for disaster. This launch maybe a pass but the gold pencil is very tempting 😅
Hello Jolynn, Yes, Kohl just doesn't last well on me at all. It's to the point where I tend to avoid purchasing kohl eye pencils, but because it's Lisa, and because it was described as lasting 16 hours, I bought into it 😅 The Renaissance Gold is longer-wearing and more forgiving due to the lighter shade. I wore it today (with only a slight smudge), and it lasted way better than any of the other shades I've tried. Thanks so much for watching xxx
Yeah, this is a flop for me. I don’t have oily eyelids and powdered them before trying these, it still moved, but didn’t disappear as bad as the VB liners. I’ve got the two matte browns and love the colours. However, I don’t tight line and when it ended up in my eyes accidentally it stung…

I don’t mind a pencil you have to sharpen. I think the burnt umber, the gold, and night forest are pretty. But the green is very dark. I think I’d like more vivid colors. I’d love an olive green that’s not too dark, a purple, a burgundy, a copper, and a silver!! Oh, it’s a shame it transferred so badly initially! But then it stayed locked in where you didn’t want it. Yikes!! Ugh! I’m sad even the primer didn’t help that much. I do have oily eyelids and I live where it’s hot so maybe I’d try to set it with eyeshadow on top? I’m 99.9% sure you’ll compare these to the Victoria Beckham eyeliners. That would be my guess! It would be great to know the shade differences and the wear/performance differences between the two. I didn’t enter your ND giveaway because I already have that palette…but I’m super excited about the LE giveaway! You are so kind!! ❤

Hi Elaine, I tend to do giveaways on Lisa Eldridge collections. I always buy double the products (one set to give away) before I review them. Because LE's launches are normally pretty good, I had no prior way of knowing they'd perform like this. I am a *massive* LE product fan (don't want to even count how much I've spent with her...), but I had the exact same smudging issue as you and everyone in the comments. I looked in the mirror after like three hours of wear-time and looked like a raccoon. So disappointing! Makes me not want to buy so immediately in the future from LE, which is really sad.

I am very disappointed in the formula. I purchased Burnt Umber and Forest Green. They simply don't work for me, they transfer, smudge, etc. Additionally the Burnt Umber is irritating my eyes! Very surprised since I am used to the Victoria Beckham kohl liners which don't irritate me at all. I will be contacting the LE team to return them. Unfortunate that this formula, which at least 6 reviewers have commented the same thing-they smudge and transfer, does not live up the the LE brand.

The allure if LE is her personality, calm demeanor--her products are OK, but not must-haves. The BB shadow sticks, LM caviar sticks, TM shadow sticks do exactly what these pencils claim to do and they last on the skin. I have learned to buy one shade and never invest in the whole collection, just in case they do not live up to the claims. FYI, she does advertise these as budge proof, so if they do not live up to her description, then they are a fail---and must be called out. This stuff is expensive (and completely unnecessary) and as consumers we have to be mindful where we spend our hard earned money.
Hello, I 100% agree with you. Lisa is her brand; her brand is Lisa, and the customers buy into Lisa. That is why I'm worried about changes to the brand, especially now that she's expanded and is in bigger retailers like Selfridges especially. Many people would say her lipsticks are super good, not just ok. Sure, everyone feels differently, but I think they’re really high quality even if you don’t personally care for them. I also really like her liquid lurex eyeshadows and her highlighter. I don’t think all of Lisa’s products are just ok, but maybe this eyeliner launch wasn’t the best.
Hi, I agree Lisa has a lot of great products (as stated in my long list of previous videos ☺️), but she also has some misses. I believe it’s also true that many people buy into Lisa based on trusting her without even doing much research into the products. The same can’t be said for many other brands. Her eyeliners aren’t the best (especially when marketed as long-wearing, budge-proof and transfer-resistant). Also, her cleanser was very meh. It’s fine as a cleanser (not great), but I didn’t think it worked or doubled up as a mask even though she said it did. Her exfoliator cloth also isn’t the greatest; I think BP do a much better one. Also, her customer service used to be better, and that’s why I said I’m worried that as she grows and now that she apparently has an investor, the standard won’t be the same/she won’t get as much of say on the direction the brand goes. Sadly not smudge proof on me at all. Her best product is the foundation but has two bottles that leaked. Lipstick snapped, fallout from eyeshadow, cheek colour exploded, she is very good at marketing, but products are not worth the money for me. Only repeat purchase will be foundation. Shame about the bottle. Amazing mua without a doubt. Products for me don’t live up to the hype.
Hi Liz, you're right, there have been faults with many of her products. I think the only redeeming quality is the fast response from the customer service team and the fact that she accepted fault with the blush (which she is still working on). I think she has good quality products, but I wouldn't say, they are the best on the market. I prefer the twist up. I’m guessing that you will compare to Victoria Beckham. Those transfer like heck on me so these were an easy pass for me. I’ll stick to my chanel stylo yeux and the hourglass eye liners are amazing they don’t go anywhere. I am super oily and those last and I walk my dog every evening. I’m curious to try MAKE cosmetics I have a feeling those will be long wearing too. I was surprised she didn’t release a concealer or a chubby eyeshadow sticks.

I'd like to add a few comments I forgot to mention in the video:
1) I will do another wear test with the prep and prime, with only the liner (to see if that makes a difference).
2) I wanted to include a section on Kohl, but it would have made my video even longer. There are a lot of differences compared to "normal" eyeliner, but one of them is that kohl is a lot softer, very pigmented and traditionally, great for smudging and creating a smoky eye. I know this, but my comments and observations were based on my experience of wearing it and the description "budge-proof, transfer-resistant, waterproof with 16-hours wear".There is also a cultural and spiritual aspect to it but if you want to know more, I would recommend doing your own research.
3) Though the pencil is soft, it does not wear down easily, unlike many other soft pencils. For example, I used the pencils several times (applying pressure) to do different swatches and wear tests, but I have yet to sharpen them. Though soft, it doesn't require sharpening after every use, especially if you use my tip ☺

I had exactly the same issue as you. I have dry skin but hooded eyes and slightly oily eyelids. I prepped in the same way as you just did and it transferred and didn’t set in the way they suggested. I had Ground Coffee and Renaissance Gold. V disappointed.

Renaissance Gold being the lightest shade, performs the best out of all six shades but even then, it's not completely smudge-proof on oilier lids. Sorry to hear it didn't wear well on you, either. I'm so glad you did this review. I bought two of these pencils, Ground Coffee and Burnt Umber. Both of these smudge, smear and transfer on me so badly. After an hour of wear, I looked like I'd been crying... it was honestly the worst pencil liner I'd ever tried! As you say, if it was marketed differently, that would be another matter. But they're being sold as smudge proof and water proof, which they most certainly are not. She also keeps hammering the point that they set after 45 seconds, they absolutely do not, not on me anyway. I used mine in the same manner I use all my eyeliner pencils, with a primer, and lined on my top and bottom lash line, and these just did NOT stick at all. I contacted their customer service as well like you did, and they offered me the same tips as you received (which is weird because non of these tips were mentioned in her video when demo-ing them) - and they still didn't work for me. So I actually received a full refund for mine as they're completely useless to me :( SUCH a shame because I absolutely adore all her other products!! I really hope this feedback is taken on board and a re-formulation happens, as I'd REALLY love for these to work!

Crap 😢I have really oily eyelids. I bought 1 shade just in case and now I’m not hopeful at all ☹️ I’m not interested in adding another step to my makeup routine like a primer, why can’t eyewear just stay put!

I’m wearing Green Forest for the first time today as a normal eyeliner and in the top waterline. I feel like I’m back in 1995 with grunge eyes. Tomorrow I’ll try only as a normal eyeliner and hope it will not transfer to grunge look😂 It reminds me of the eyeliner from Victoria Beckham. By the way. I really appreciate your honest reviews. I’ve written to the Lisa Eldridge Team to ask for advice, but I’ve tried with primer and eyeshadow to set as well with no luck. I actually hope, they will do a refund. The last experiment will be a VERY small amount as a normal eyeliner smudged out for the purpose of the feeling of grunge. But that’s not my most used look🙃 I have the Victoria Beckham in Surf Side (or Sea Surf ? - a clear green) and that one works as a normal eyeliner. Not in waterlines.

I was so excited for these as they looked so similar to the Victoria Bekham ones but as someone with extremely sensitive eyes that are watery, these ended up being a mess on me! Within the first two hours the black treacle shade was half way down my face. These are a huge let down for me 🫠🥴

I bought Burnt Umber and Renaissance Gold last week and have worn them both twice, Burnt Umber to tightline my upper waterline and Renaissance Gold along top and bottom lashes. I've experienced no issues at all and I'm really happy with them. 😊 Love the colours and the formula.
Hello! I predicted that RG would last the best out of all the shades in the collection as it's the lightest shade. Normally lighter shades perform well, and the darker ones don't. That's why I did a wear test with Black Treacle on the first day, which failed miserably. I'm so glad that it has lasted well for you, that's most important so that you feel you got your money's worth 😉xxx
I do have dry skin and yet..... when I was in my mid 50's I got the "oily eyelids" .... OMG I have never had shadows crease or mascara smudge but I can now!
I do love Urban Decay's pencil 24/7 eyeliners and I have them in the Boring Colours - like Lisa's ! lol
As I have gotten older I do love the "Boring" makeup so I guess if someone who does not suffer from oily lids and is my age - they will love Lisa's eyeliners but I feel they will go the same way as they did on your eyes if I buy them.
I am sticking to urban Decay and I don't mind using a sharpener . :)

Thank you for an honest and fair review as always. The fact that the pencils require sharpening did put me off a bit, like you I much prefer no hassle twist pencils. The colours are a bit underwhelming but I'm hoping that Lisa will add to the range - maybe a couple of brighter jewel shades for Christmas? I love a soft smooth basic cool brown eyeliner so I will probably give it a go. The look you created is so pretty it's such a shame the transfer issues let you down.

The downside is they have a VERY quick dry down - so you need to work fast. The upside is the built in brush - brilliant - as well as the fact that they really are budge proof. Thanks again!

“Giving is my love language” - such a lovely sentiment. I ordered Cinder Smoke and Renaissance Gold. I wish Cinder Smoke had a touch more shimmer like the VBB satin kajal in Sea Grey. I do love the smoky effect of both though. (I would have liked to have had a sharpener included.)

Such a good review thank you! Great tip on sharpening a tip with tissue or paper. This is the first Lisa product I dont think I will buy, I already find her eyeshadows smudge on me, pretty sure these will be a complete mess (my eyes aren't oily either). I also think they are a bit steeply priced, just under the VB ones, but the VB pricing is generally higher than Lisa's so I am surprised.

I have my eye on Renaissance Gold and Ground Coffee but I'm going to go see them in store first.
Personally I like the initial shade range leaning dark; I love the idea of black alternatives that give a softer but still defined look in colours that might suit people better than straightforward black. And I love that there is a neutral-to-cool brown; I was afraid there would only be a warm one, like Burnt Umber, which would be too red for me. Surely more vivid colours will follow later.
Even before your video I had zero faith that they will be smudge- or budge-proof on my eyes, especially my waterline, because I've never found a product that doesn't leave me a gothic mess within hours 😂. Even though I have the opposite of oily lids - mine would make the Sahara seem damp. I was surprised by just how much it smudged on you though.
I completely agree, it's better not to make any promises about being budge- or waterproof if you can't 100% deliver. Then you're just setting people up for disappointment and the product up to seem like it's failing when it might otherwise be great.
It's a bummer if she's stopped doing the gift with purchase make up bag. I think that Selfridges has an exclusive one, but IIRC the minimum spend was £90. Don't get me wrong, it's very easy to drop that on Lisa's products, but I'd be less likely to do it in store when I might just buy one product at a time. Did you pick up that one when you were there?

I am sure more vivid colours will follow, but on the other hand, I also think it largely depends on how well this existing collection performs. Many people seem to have had the same problem as me.
I didn't pick up the Selfridges one. The experience was overwhelming (not in a good way), and I was in a hurry to leave - after waiting for ages. I haven't been to the new counter, but I'm sure I will pass by when I'm next in central. Have you? I hope you're well xxx

I went to Liberty yesterday to check out Renaissance Gold and was fully intending to buy it but I couldn't ignore your experience with the smudging.
I realised that it looks a lot like Anais applied over a black or dark brown liner, so I'm just going to do that instead. I already have liners that smudge, I don't need to buy another one that doesn't live up to its promises! So I've talked myself out of it for now, but we'll see how long my resolve lasts

Hello Dasha, I really like the Chanel Stylo Yeux one (for my waterline), although someone commented that the Lancome one is better. Several people also commented that the UD 24/7 one is also really good. I use the Huda Beauty (dark brown) and Rare Beauty liquid liners. I also love the Bobbi Brown PERFECTLY DEFINED GEL EYELINER in Scotch, which is my absolute fave. Nars long-wearing pencils are also great, although I haven't used them in a while. I hope that helps! I’m guessing VBB as similar texture or PML. I purchased night forest and renaissance gold. If I like them then I was thinking of getting snider smoke. As well, I like dark so the colours work for me especially for a first launch. I was hoping that she would have added a navy blue, again dark but to me a great staple piece. I’m concerned that these smudged as they did. I’m wondering if putting them in the fridge first would help? I know crazy suggestion and extra work but I’m just curious. Unfortunately, I live in Canada and already paid duty and taxes in addition to the exchange rate so these items are quite costly, basically double the price so I really hope they work for me. Hello Julienne, so sorry to hear about the crazy duty and taxes. In honesty, I don't think making them cold will help with the longevity. I think it could potentially help solidify it for the initial application, but once on and we go about our day-to-day lives, it will function as normal. I wore the RG today, and it was much longer-wearing than the other shades. If you don't have oily lids, I think it should be fine, but if you have oilier lids or live in a hot climate, you'd have to consider these factors. I still love my Dior lipstick, although I only bring it out in carpeted places 😂Thank you so much for watching! xxx

A lot people guessed eyeliners when she showed the pictures of the middle of the pencils. I was hoping she would do her liquid eye colors in matte instead. I don't mind it if they are not waterproof because then it will last better on an oily surface. Someone compared the ingredients to the VB liners and the fact they are 2 ingredients different tells me they will perform in a similar way. Also to set hers apart from VB she could have included a pencil tip brush ( not foam) to the other end.
In regards to the "free" pouches, I think a lot of profits from the sale of the products went into renting counter space inside Liberty and Selfridges as well as staffing them. We may not see them again.

I agree that these lean toward the traditional/boring but I’m sure colour offerings will be expanded. I love the VBB eyeliners, but I have to make extra effort to prevent smudging so I’m sure it would be the same with these. I stand by loving Affair on you! 🥰❤️

I must admit this is the first Lisa Eldridge product launch, that I can easily pass on. I used to buy everything asap, or at least waited to see a couple reviews and then spent some time fighting the "desires" (almost inevitably caving in within a few days lol)... but this launch kind of left me cold... Colors are rather boring, the price is very high (especially given how plain the pencil is, no smudger or brush on the other side, no sharpener included) and now knowing that it isn't as budgeproof as claimed... is really disappointing. I like my tried and tested Shiseido InkArtist Kajals and UD 24/7 pencils, so I think a creamy formula that sets properly isn't impossible to do. I have a suspicion that Lisa isn't as involved with the brand as she was in the beginning, I know she accepted some investor around the time she launched foundation. Perhaps that affected the way the company is run... I truly hope it doesn't turn into another Charlotte Tilbury type of brand (which in my not so humble opinion is the most overhyped, poorly packaged, low quality "luxe" brand in existence). Knowing the investor in question was also involved with CT in the beginning, I am not very optimistic.

If my experience and opinion then help someone with making a purchase decision, that's my job done ☺I will now look into the Shiseido kajal you mentioned. Several people recommended the UD one, so I'll look into that too. I hardly see any UD stores or counters in London, so may have to purchase online.
Don't even get me started on CT 😂Her advertisements, especially around Christmas time (the bloody jingles) are particularly triggering 😂. I agree with pretty much most of your comments. I do think CT has one or two really good products, but the rest is very MEH! There's a reason I don't review her brand on my channel ☺

I am hoping for comparisons to VBB! I agree that the colors disappointed me slightly, all being black-ish. It’s a good starting lineup, I suppose, but was hoping for something more unique. The dark green most brands come out with always disappointed me but I want a more true green, or more yellow/olive green.

I will skip the launch as I have to use up a grey Lancome and a MAC pencil in my favourite colours grey and dark brown. Both stay put in the waterline which is the purpose I bought them for. I love underlining my top waterline 😊. I suppose and hope you will compare LE to Victoria Beckham. I am especially interested in the grey and blue liner from Victoria 🖤
Edit: I love the boring colours but I consider the grey and green to be very dark. I would love to see a deep blue (sparkling), a burgundy or a plum.

I ordered ground coffee and got it yesterday and tried it today for the first time. I watched your review last night so I was nervous to try it today! I have mega oily eyelids, but my eye savior is the Ulta matte eye primer-oils never break through and keeps my eyes looking perfect all day! If you haven’t tried that eye primer (don’t know if you have access to Ulta?), I *highly* recommend. Anyway, thanks to your review, I also set the eye primer (which I don’t normally do) and ground coffee lasted all day with no smudging or transfer! 🙌 But I see what you mean about the formula being a bit too liquify/smooth. I have moderate experience using liner, so I was able to get a good result, but I can totally see how someone could have a lot of trouble controlling it…
Did you notice that the cap feels different from the lip pencils? I was surprised, kept feeling like I wasn’t getting it on all the way.

Hello, thank you for watching! I was so hopeful about the eye primer but sadly, we don't have access to Ulta here, unless it's stocked in a niche store somewhere. I will be sure to look out for it if I go to the States or know someone who does. If Ground Coffee lasted all day on your oily eyelids, the Ulta eye primer must be pure magic 😂 I did notice about the caps but for me, it feels secure so I didn't mention anything in the video. I like the Lancôme pencils over the Chanel ones but my go-to are the PM ones. I bet you are going to compare these to VBB. Those smudged on me like crazy. Like you, I have oilier eyelids but mine are also hooded. The VBB bronze didn’t smudge as much on me as the darker ones. I was so excited to see LE Renaissance gold because I found VBB Bronze too dark but then was disappointed to hear about the black base. Unfortunately I have to pass on this launch and hope PM releases more colors. Love your video

Thanks for the honest review, it's hard criticizing someone like LE. I too miss the bag it made each buy very fun and special. I must admit that i no longer buy all her releases, however when i heard about the pencils I got really excited as i am addicted to VB eyeliner (i assume that the company you talked about 😅😅) and i hoped to have an alternative. First i think that VB has so much more interesting colors that really flatter the eyes. I was surprised not to be that excited from LE as she knows colors so well ( that is why I keep buying her lipsticks although they all break on me) .i bought umber as i am looking for this color since marc jacobs closed and forest green as i wanted a blackened green ,not bright. However if it smudges it really a no go. I also think that you get a better deal with VB and you can get sometime discount or free shipping.
After this long declaration i will continue by saying i prefer twist ups as the last longer and never dry out

I have almost ALL her lipsticks and liquid lipsticks her foundation and liquid highlighters! So when this came out I ordered day 1! But it was a fail for me unfortunately although creamy it was a huge mess on my watery eyes absolutely not budge proof whatsoever Lisa i stand by you but this product is just not for my sensitive eyes I will finish up my pencil but won’t repurchase 😢

Her last bag was the Pompadour one, which she released last year for her holiday collection. She only launches velvet bags with velvet lipstick releases (so always in autumn/winter). Her last linen bag available on-line was the aquamarine which she launched with her summer pinks collection in 2019 (if I remember correctly). All these bags have been available here and there through the years. My guess is she ordered a very large quantity has been selling them/giving them away until they sold out, but they were never meant to be permanent. Maybe she will release a new velvet bag this year, who knows? Also, she released another linen pouch which was only available in Selfridges. I was hoping that when she stocked Velvet Bloom on her website she'd also sell the pouch, but alas, she did not. Again, it could be available in the future, who knows?

I have ordered the sorcery palette and a couple of pencils. I am very NOT good with eye pencils, I am a beginner. And overly sensitive when trying to draw a line. The Sisley (plum shade mostly) pencils have worked great as they glide on relatively easily. I therefore have high expectations from these LE pencils in terms of ease of the slide. I shall wait & see.
Hello! The Sorcery palette is SO gorgeous! Sometimes, I just take it out of my makeup drawer to marvel at the colours like a loser 😂 I'm not necessarily the biggest bright colours fan (for eyes), but there's something about Sorcery that is like the name, very hypnotising. I’m a longtime Lisa Eldridge fan and will continue to be, but in Canada one eyeliner will cost Canadians approximately $51 dollars per pencil, and that’s before the duties & taxes of $23 or more. I’ve paid 28 at most.

The formula seems to be more like MAC eye kohls which are very creamy but doesn’t really set and smudges. I used to really love MAC's Teddy but did not repurchase as I tend to rub my eyes and a smudgey formula seems like a recipe for disaster. This launch maybe a pass but the gold pencil is very tempting 😅
Hello Jolynn, Yes, Kohl just doesn't last well on me at all. It's to the point where I tend to avoid purchasing kohl eye pencils, but because it's Lisa, and because it was described as lasting 16 hours, I bought into it 😅 The Renaissance Gold is longer-wearing and more forgiving due to the lighter shade. I wore it today (with only a slight smudge), and it lasted way better than any of the other shades I've tried. Thanks so much for watching xxx
Yeah, this is a flop for me. I don’t have oily eyelids and powdered them before trying these, it still moved, but didn’t disappear as bad as the VB liners. I’ve got the two matte browns and love the colours. However, I don’t tight line and when it ended up in my eyes accidentally it stung…

I don’t mind a pencil you have to sharpen. I think the burnt umber, the gold, and night forest are pretty. But the green is very dark. I think I’d like more vivid colors. I’d love an olive green that’s not too dark, a purple, a burgundy, a copper, and a silver!!
Oh, it’s a shame it transferred so badly initially! But then it stayed locked in where you didn’t want it. Yikes!! Ugh! I’m sad even the primer didn’t help that much. I do have oily eyelids and I live where it’s hot so maybe I’d try to set it with eyeshadow on top?
I’m 99.9% sure you’ll compare these to the Victoria Beckham eyeliners. That would be my guess! It would be great to know the shade differences and the wear/performance differences between the two.

I am a *massive* LE product fan (don't want to even count how much I've spent with her...), but I had the exact same smudging issue as you and everyone in the comments. I looked in the mirror after like three hours of wear-time and looked like a raccoon. So disappointing! Makes me not want to buy so immediately in the future from LE, which is really sad.

I am very disappointed in the formula. I purchased Burnt Umber and Forest Green. They simply don't work for me, they transfer, smudge, etc. Additionally the Burnt Umber is irritating my eyes! Very surprised since I am used to the Victoria Beckham kohl liners which don't irritate me at all. I will be contacting the LE team to return them. Unfortunate that this formula, which at least 6 reviewers have commented the same thing-they smudge and transfer, does not live up the the LE brand.

The allure if LE is her personality, calm demeanor--her products are OK, but not must-haves. The BB shadow sticks, LM caviar sticks, TM shadow sticks do exactly what these pencils claim to do and they last on the skin. I have learned to buy one shade and never invest in the whole collection, just in case they do not live up to the claims. FYI, she does advertise these as budge proof, so if they do not live up to her description, then they are a fail---and must be called out. This stuff is expensive (and completely unnecessary) and as consumers we have to be mindful where we spend our hard earned money.

That is why I'm worried about changes to the brand, especially now that she's expanded and is in bigger retailers like Selfridges especially. Many people would say her lipsticks are super good, not just ok. Sure, everyone feels differently, but I think they’re really high quality even if you don’t personally care for them. I also really like her liquid lurex eyeshadows and her highlighter. I don’t think all of Lisa’s products are just ok, but maybe this eyeliner launch wasn’t the best.
Hi, I agree Lisa has a lot of great products (as stated in my long list of previous videos ☺️), but she also has some misses. I believe it’s also true that many people buy into Lisa based on trusting her without even doing much research into the products. The same can’t be said for many other brands. Her eyeliners aren’t the best (especially when marketed as long-wearing, budge-proof and transfer-resistant). Also, her cleanser was very meh. It’s fine as a cleanser (not great), but I didn’t think it worked or doubled up as a mask even though she said it did. Her exfoliator cloth also isn’t the greatest; I think BP do a much better one. Also, her customer service used to be better, and that’s why I said I’m worried that as she grows and now that she apparently has an investor, the standard won’t be the same/she won’t get as much of say on the direction the brand goes. Sadly not smudge proof on me at all. Her best product is the foundation but has two bottles that leaked. Lipstick snapped, fallout from eyeshadow, cheek colour exploded, she is very good at marketing, but products are not worth the money for me. Only repeat purchase will be foundation. Shame about the bottle. Amazing mua without a doubt. Products for me don’t live up to the hype.
Hi Liz, you're right, there have been faults with many of her products. I think the only redeeming quality is the fast response from the customer service team and the fact that she accepted fault with the blush (which she is still working on). I think she has good quality products, but I wouldn't say, they are the best on the market. me. I’ll stick to my chanel stylo yeux and the hourglass eye liners are amazing they don’t go anywhere. I am super oily and those last and I walk my dog every evening. I’m curious to try MAKE cosmetics I have a feeling those will be long wearing too. I was surprised she didn’t release a concealer or a chubby eyeshadow sticks.
