If AMD wants marketshare and allow gamers to really grab their product, they need to lower the price on their launch. If they do, this could make a real dent in the intel market. Also, if they do, they force Intel to do the same and from what the rumours say, the next intel gen might be worse than 14th gen for gaming.
Hopefully they listen to the gamers of the world!

You don't really have to upgrade for years to come when you get on to the higher end cpu on a matured platform. By the time you think of upgrade you should switch to next platform, by then it will be matured and lower price and more performance gain and power efficient.

It's a fairly new 2022 TV/monitor, and I don't feel like spending $1300 for 32" 4k OLED when my current display works fine. The 32" would also be a downgrade from my current 42". As a 5800X owner who used to have an RX6600, I am bemused that they used that card as a benchmark. Um. Okay. It's a fine card. $100 or less for a used one. Great value. But the 5800X much less this new variant is going to be napping waiting for that card. I replaced my with a 6700XT which seems to be an extremely balanced card for the 5800X. Don't think I have ever had a CPU-GPU so evenly and perfectly matched. The updated 5800XT or whatever it's called is probably an even better match. Yippee. I kid. Not really seeing much to celebrate for AM4. There are already a plethora of great AM4 choices, and let's be honest, a lot of interest is only on the X3D variants. Seriously doubt anyone will see a 5800XT over the 5800X and go "wow, now THAT'S what I want today!" And I say that as someone who did purposely choose the X part instead of the X3D everybody else wanted. Still very happy for AMD. They are still killing it. As an AMD fan for ages, and suffering with awful stuff, it makes me very happy to see them finally the top dog and they earned it. Intel has a lot of 'splainin to do. Tell us again about E cores and P cores? I need a good bedtime story to fall asleep.

You have to watch the lite load on MSI boards, but limiting the AMPS is the surefire way to bring usage down.
If you do ALL CORE voltage apply mode and not Offset mode your idle Wattage will be much higher.
You watch, they'll be bragging on everything at black friday anyways. Just like they did on the 14900K. Took 2 years for these guys to say that Intel was unstable, cause they wanted to sell some last year.....

Hello, I am researching midrange desktop PC's for Windows 11 in the hope of upgrading one with a standard ATX PSU and video card. I have so far looked at the Dell Optiplex 7070, Dell Inspiron 3020 and the Acer T-1760. All good systems but very difficult to upgrade the PSU for a good video card. Currently a Radeon RX 6400, but planning to upgrade to at least a RX 6600.
I am on fixed budget however it is beginning to appear I may have to build a PC from scratch. That is fine however it has been over a decade since I have done that. It might be more expensive but at least I could buy the parts over the next few months.
I have ancient Compaq Presario with a Seasonic 520 watt PSU that has only been turned on a few times in the last few years. That old Compaq has three features not found on most modern mid range desktops from what I have seen.
    1. a motherboard that has a 24 pin ATX connector.
    2. A case that easily accepts a standard ATX PSU. I had no trouble upgrading the original 300 watt to the 520 watt Seasonic.
    3. A case fan not found in the Acer T1760.
I am toying with the idea of using that old case to modernize with maybe a motherboard etc. from one of these systems. On the other hand I may buy new parts to install into that case unless I am forced into buying a new case.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

If eventually want to build a pc for both gaming and productivity (video editing etc) but want it to be great for gaming as well is it better to take the "3D" or non 3D cpu?

If you're doing video editing very often or as a job, go with an Intel CPU with igpu for the benefits of quicksync. If it's just something you do occasionally and gaming is your main thing, get an X3D CPU if you can.

The pairing of graphics card and CPU isn't that strange. I'm currently planning on building a computer with a 5950X, which costs about $50 more than the CPU they used, and the graphics card I'm planning to use is exactly the same.
This goes against the standard advice on your channel (and others) about trying primarily to get a CPU strong enough to not bottleneck alongside a graphics card that's as powerful as you can afford. And that's good advice ... *if* your only goal is to make a powerful gaming computer which doesn't get used for anything more CPU intensive.
If you have CPU intensive tasks as well, a better CPU helps a lot. And if your goals for gaming aren't that intensive, the 6600 gives you plenty of performance.
The 12 year old potato graphics card I have often struggles with 1024x768 at low settings. The worst is Path of Exile, where I can't go over 800x600. Mostly it stays around 12-15 fps, but occasionally it drops to 5 fps.
I don't know if you've ever played a game at 5 fps, but it feels less like frames per second, and more like seconds per frame.
All I need from my graphics card is that it isn't a potato. I want to be able to play modern games without worrying that I won't be able to run it at all, and I want better than slideshow frame rates.

I think it's intersting that the opinions on screen resolutions differs so much. On this channel it's "Get a 1440P gaming monitor!" while on some others it's more "Get a 4K monitor, don't bother with 1440P.
Personally I like 1440 monitors. Thing is 4K is just too much for the affordable GPU's. Besides my eyes might be part of it as I can just read text on a 27" 1440p display. On 4K the text is just too small. "So up the scale!" No, because not all programs respect the scaling that Windows provides. Besides I like having more text on screen as long as I can read it.
There are dravbacks of using a lower res. For instance when gaming I really prefer to run at native resolution, but if the system can't produce the frame rate it's preferable to lower the resolution to some decent fraction. A fraction of two for the resolution is often the best. With a 4K display this is 1920 x 1080 pixels or a quarter the number of pixels. The scaling is simple using 2 by 2 pixels on the 4K screen for each 1080p pixel. Sure it look a bit rough, but there isn't any other scaling artifacts necessary. With a 1440p display it's 1280 x 720 that can be represented by 2 by2 monitor pixels per game pixel. That's a much lower resolution and not really all that attractive if projected on a 27" screen or larger.
Another thing that's sometimes irritating with 4K screens are the maximum refresh rate. Now I'll admit that it doesn't bother me but 4K monitors are limited to about 240 Hz refresh, and that requires a Display Port 2.1 capable of supporting 80Gbs. First of all GPU's supporting this is limited, and second of all the longest cables handling this is currently 1 or 1.2 meters long. More than that and severe signal problems will occur.
Now personally I'm perfectly happy at about 100 Hz refresh rate, but there are a lot of people who really want to hit 240Hz or preferably even more.
1440p monitors have less problems with the ports and cables needed for high refresh rates.
Now most of this is problems that will get resolved in a few years. But for now I think I prefer 1440p screens.
