I took the train from Paignton [edit: from Goodrington Sands] to Kingswear and back last year. Beautiful line. :-) Great holiday with the family. First steam train ride for my daughter! :-)

I looked up some info on no. 6019 "King Henry V". It was built at Swindon Works in July 1928, withdrawn in September 1962, and was scrapped later in Newport.
Nice video although driving could be better. I went to Paignton in 2017 on holiday and did the route as you said. Steam Train from Paignton to Kings Weir. Boat along the river (forgot what it’s called)Then got train back to the place where Agatha Christie’s house was, walked around that and then got a bus back to Paignton. Wonderful holiday, weather was amazing. Felt like being abroad with all the palm trees. Would love to go back there sometime.

It became BR #6019 in 1948 (at the time of the nationalization, the GWR engines still kept their original numbers for some reason) and the engine was withdrawn from service on September 30th, 1962. It was cut up at Cashmore's Scrapyard in Newport on December 31st, 1962 at the age of 44.
excellent run Sam, and love the epic wheel slip. I know that line well, my folks live in Paignton and when I go visit every summer I always ride the line. There is an epic, if somewhat pricey package of a day trip you can do. You get a vintage bus from Paignton station to Totnes, (normally a 1950's AC Regent) that drops you off at Totnes Riverside station, where you catch a train up the South Devon Steam Railway, to Buckfast, you can then kill an hour or so in Buckfast Abbey (try the beer the monks brew - very good stuff), or the Butterfly farm, or just poke around Buckfast station, (The South Devon is more open than the Paignton and Dartmouth and you can visit the sheds and the stock yard and the repair shop as well as the museum.) You then get the next train back to Totnes, hop on a boat for a 50 minute cruise down the Dart to Dartmouth. Jump the Ferry to Kingswear, and then another steamer along the route you have just driven to Paignton. . Last time I did the whole route I had the AC Regent Bus, a Collett Goods 0-6-0 on the South Devon and a 42xx 2-8-0T on the Paignton and Dartmouth. Anyway all the best. Jon

Sorry , just replied to you on my previous comment. When the Flying Scotsman came back from America Mr Pegler had run out of cash and Mr Mc Alpine bought it . It still had a small amount of time left of its steam certificate so at the time the Kingswear line was one of the only heritage lines with gentle curves so they ran it to earn some cash towards the rebuild . Would love to have a go with simulator with the Flying Scotsman .Great vid . Richard

I love playing this game it is one of my favorite games. My favorite engine I have is the B12 and my favorite route is the route Is one I am making my self the great central railway. I also have the exeter to kingswear route too.

At my local railway the Severn valley, it runs between bridgenorth and kiddiminster and it's in single track and at every station you have to stop and wait for the other (steam) train
I just found 2 old models of the Mallard and the Duchess in my cupboard under my stairs :D I don't remember them but they are cool. The Duchess has such a lovely colour!!! Any news on a potential Duchess unboxing yet?

This was interesting to say the least I mean what would have happened if the traffic didn't stop and the people in the cars became bloody corpses. Also just saying the firebox in't opened in tunnels because there is a risk of smoke reaching the cab and knocking out the crew, in fact one of the S&DJR 7F's had this happen to it and the crew ended up dying Cheers Avi

haha! Well it's not too bad - you can use the controls in the HUD, which makes it much easier! You can have accidents - but normally the game stops and says 'game over', or whatever, before you can see the carnage, sadly! :( Cheers matey, Sam :)
The blue peter was a locomotive that was badly damaged, when the crew caused her to wheel-slip, and she blew a cylinder (I think), and I believe the running gear may have been damaged too! Cheers, Sam :)
Blue Peter is an LNER Peppercorn Class A2. She is owned by the Royal Scot Locomotive and General Trust which is run by Jeremy Hosking. Blue Peter is currently under overhaul at Crewe LNWR Heritage.

When you have wheel Slip you must shut the regulator quickly down to 0%.
Oh okay! I knew to turn it down, but I didn't know to shut it down to 0% - could have had another blue peter on my hands ;)

Hey Sam, loved both of your Train Simulator 2016 videos. What is the simulator called and where did you get it from? Is this the steam version or the main version and could you please do more of these videos soon?

haha! Well it's not too bad - you can use the controls in the HUD, which makes it much easier! You can have accidents - but normally the game stops and says 'game over', or whatever, before you can see the carnage, sadly! :(

What is a blue peter???
The blue peter was a locomotive that was badly damaged, when the crew caused her to wheel-slip, and she blew a cylinder (I think), and I believe the running gear may have been damaged too!

Blue Peter is an LNER Peppercorn Class A2. She is owned by the Royal Scot Locomotive and General Trust which is run by Jeremy Hosking. Blue Peter is currently under overhaul at Crewe LNWR Heritage.

It's super realistic you can even leave the cab and everything is interactive
