Bella’s fur is lush 😍. Glad she has a loving home.
She is trying to back out of her cone. I had all of my cats and dogs spayed/neutered but never had the cones. I just had to make sure they stayed dry. They were fine otherwise. I love all of your fur babies so much. Great video.

The paw swelled like that because they had it too tight and on too long. It only needs to be on for five minutes until the blood clots where the IV was. Hope she heals quickly.

Sometimes cats cause whats know as fatty paw. It is because the bandaid is to tight sometimes, but also because kitty's tend to shake their paw so much that it causes swelling.
@jwathas I work in emergency medicine as a vet tech and have witnessed cats shake their paw to that extent. We always check their catheter and tape job to make sure it's not to tight and sometimes bandage the paw for 30 minutes or so to stop the swelling from continuing.
@jwathas It's normal for spayed cats and dogs to go home on the same day. They only stay overnight if there were complications with the surgery (which rarely happen). Usually owners drop their animals off in the morning and pick them up in the afternoon. If you're practice kept them in overnight as a requirement it is very unusual and different from what is the norm. I'd consider switching from that practice, since all its doing is making owners pay more for something unnecessary.
@jwathas So this comment confused me since we're taught that keeping cats overnight after spaying is unnecessary and many cats recover better in the comfort of their own home (since although its a more invasive surgery than castration it's so routine and low risk that keeping overnight is unnecessary and the 6 hours post-surgery before the owner picks the cat up is considered enough to see how well the cat is recovering). But I did some research and apparently in the US it's not unusual keep cats overnight (I'm assuming you're from the US since you say "Vet Tech" instead of "Vet Nurse" but please correct me if I'm wrong)! I work in the UK where it's almost unheard of to do this unless you're spaying due to other health reasons (e.g. pyometra). If a vet practice here insisted on keeping healthy post-spayed cats overnight it would definitely raise eyebrows. It's interesting to see the differences between the two countries.

Idk how you managed to put Bella in the cat box so easily, my cat puts her paws in the way so she can't go in, it's impossible
Izzi Willmot try putting her hind legs in first and tilt the cat crate upwards so it's easier to get her in that's what I do with my cat if she still puts up a fight just gently tell her she will be alright. Also grab her paws and put some treats in.

When I got my girl fixed last year, she didn't need a cone or pain meds. She was fine within a day or two and jumping and running around again in no time.

@AllieandAspenAdventures first of all I was not the one who said (or typed) that there were 50 likes and I think that there is something wrong with TH-cam and it said no views and it had 39 likes and it was kind of weird so I was just the person who saw the video first while typing the comment and liked it okay!!!!!
Hope Bella's feeling better! I'm a vet tech and kittens/puppies coming in for surgery always makes people so nervous, but kitten spays are honestly one of the easiest procedures so don't worry! I'm not sure where you go for vet care but I'm surprised they didn't clean up the blood from her arm and remove the bandage... her paw was so swollen because the bandage was tight and the paw wasn't getting proper circulation. Once an animal is up and moving that bandage should come off.
Btw, we shave the arm to place a catheter which gives them drugs and IV fluids, and we have to shave so much fur on the stomach because there can't be any rouge hair in the surgical field.
My favorite cat died of cancer 1 year ago :(

Also, there's several health issues that can originate in the uterus for a cat, and spaining them will prevent these from occuring, so spaining a cat usually makes their life expectancy raise by a few years. It's not a huge boost, but it's still a health benefit. And we all want Bella to grow up healthy after all.

This reminds me of my cat after her surgery, she fell on her back from a 1.5 foot stool, it looked painful.

When we took her out of the kennel she went straight to that spot (she fell over a few times on her way there, she was more "drunk" than you see bella in this video) and when she got there she immediately jumped on it and it was to high so she fell back first on to the floor.
After that I figured that it would be best for her to put her back into the kennel with food and water so she will not get hurt.
Timor Shaked got it. Sorry if I sounded accusatory , didn’t mean it harshly . I just hate seeing animals get hurt especially when it could’ve been avoided the way Bella didn’t have to fall from the box . I’m glad the box wasn’t too high .

My cats experience getting spayed seemed much less traumatic. She was herself in less than a day and they didn’t advise us to have her in a cone. Interesting. Anyway hope she recovers fast and also love you guys. Enjoy all your vids!! 😁
I foster and the kittens don't get shaved legs just bellies or the lower area if its a boy. I have never used a cone on them and they always come home like nothing happened.
When my cat got spayed she was so mad she was hissing at us and she couldn’t walk so now shes scared of the kennel and the vet was like i cant believe your getting her spayed bc shes a tortoise shell cat and her brother keeps going to neighborhood cats and keeps trynna get with em and he keeps getting messed up bc of the females lol 😂 so my moms friend is getting him neutered

I have had many many cats spayed and this is the first time I've seen that you need to leave a cone on their head for days. I mean even for my colony cats, I spay them then let them go back to their colony the next day (without a cone). Thank you for spaying Bella. I know it's tough now, but it'll be better for her. My friends cat is spayed too and don’t worry about it. She’s going to be fine and dandy in a week. If the operation went smoothly there’s a low chance if her being in pain.

Oh, drugged kitties XD Don't worry, you guys aren't bad pet parents. You're doing Bella a great service by getting her spayed! Not only will you not have to worry about a surprise litter of kittens, but her chances of getting reproductive cancer are basically gone. The healing phase will be over soon, and she'll be back to her normal self. Hugs and love from California!
I remember when my kitten got it done I was so worried about her but she heeled very fast. She didn’t have a cone and had a brother trying to play with her. I just had to watch her and him
As a 4 cat owner all of them spayed. She shouldn't be jumping... don't put her in high places where she can fall. The surgery is full open abdominal cavity. It's not like neutering a dog or a male cat. It's much more delicate. She shouldn't be getting handled so much so soon after surgery. I was so scared when she fell of the boxes. She needs a safe comfortable space where she can relax. She'll be feeling better by day 3.

You guys should really feed her wet food. Kibble is fine when you guys leave the house so she can free feed but if you only feed dry food your cat is way more prone to kidney disease and urinary tract infections. Cats need moisture in their diet(not just from water) and they are carnivores. I have worked for many years in a health pet food store and also my family owns a cat rescue. We feed canned food and the cats have never had any issues. I have had multiple friends who only fed kibble to their cats and they end up getting urinary infections or die from kidney disease. Kibble is a processed food, that has way to many carbs and grains.

I agree. I took the cone off my cat because he was not drinking, eating and was miserable. You could put it back if Bella starts constantly licking her stitches. Poor Bella!
