I bought these plugins yesterday. very easy to use, very good result. Now I can pull a track to front or make the track fill background or somewhere between front and background. use with recorded sources that have overtones. this plugin solve problems.

So, the type of depth-staging you are talking about is more related to the Boost parameter as this deals with the perceived loudness from a sound source. For example, positive Boost values are as if you are closer to the sound source and negative values are as if you have moved away.
@2:34 you say bias and brighten only have an effect if tame and recovery have been adjusted. @7:10 you say brighten is global and effects everything, even if the other 3 controls have not been adjusted. Which is it? Or am I misunderstanding you?
I don't really understand the need for the bias option. If you want to lean more toward "tame" why not just increase "tame", and vice versa? What does bias do differently?
Not sitting in my studio and Im using less than ideal listening gear. Couldn't hear any difference. Guess I have to watch it again in my studio... People are raving about this plugin so I know Im missing something ;) Im a bit afraid of the price tag though, haven't seen it yet.
Haha for what it’s worth, when they showed the first “on / off” demonstration, I thought they were only showing it bypassed - I didn’t realize they were toggling between on and off. So yeah, the difference is veeeerry subtle
This seems like a contraditcion about the brighten control. -> A) 2:29 - "They [Bias and Brighten] only have an effect if the tame or recover parameters have been adjusted". "Bias and Brighten do nothing on their own". B) 7:12ish "these [Brighten and Boost] are global controls so they affect everything even if you haven't adjusted the recover, tame or bias controls". I'm guessing the fog is in what you mean, and I'm not 100% clear what you do mean, by "..even if you haven't adjusted the recover, tame...".
I think i've found two contradictory statements in this video. At 2:30 it says "Brighten do[es] nothing on [its] own" But at 07:10 he says Brighten controls everything, "even if you haven't adjusted the recover, tame, or bias control" What is right here? Edit: i've just tested it, the first statement seems to be right
I wonder how this compares to a plugin like Soothe2. I’m curious about this but I feel like Soothe accomplishes this in a much simpler and more elegant way (when he started talking about the relationship between bias and brightness with the first two knobs I was like “wow, this is a UX designers nightmare” 😂)
Please download the trial of Gullfoss and Soothe and give them a proper A|B comparison. Both great tools, and in my opinion apples and oranges. Gullfoss has just 5 parameters, so the simplicitiy is there, but there is an initial learning curve.
I'll wait for this years black friday.. i can't afford 300 AUD right now.. i missed the 30% sale a couple months back sadly, i didn't even know it was happening, i thought this never went on sale.. I just wish i got it when was 99.95 USD.. it's more than double for me in AUD now.. the price IS a bit cheeky and the BF price should be the standard price.
And by what measure do you set prices? By what you have in your wallet? You also go buy a car this way? "It's to expensive, it should be much cheaper". Just wait for the next sale and buy it then. Or save up and buy it then.
I could not tell the difference on TH-cam so I got the demo version Some mixes you could see an improvement right away. Other mixes it seemed to want to make a bright mix brighter, but there is another video where they are treating a bright mix, and once you see how they did that, it is easy enough. 4 stars. It loses a star only because my windows registry is now housing an ilok key and I have no idea what iLok is sending to the cloud, and if they are harvesting my desktop. Should take all my personal info off the machine?
iLok is widely used and nothing to be concerned about security-wise. That said, I hate the system enough to avoid plugins that use it. Thanks for pointing that out before I wasted my time watching more videos on this.
i totally used this plugin wrong. and i myself preach to read manuals all the time. big L for me. this has revolutionized gullfoss for me. the boost parameter is crazy
@@maciekkk123 Fair enough ... but did you also download a trial for your DAW and check it out on a mix? TH-cam is not a bastion of quality audio. Anyway, I have and clearly can hear significant differences ... so I bought it.
@@dftweedie3021 Yeah it might be youtube.. I do think it is great idea for the plugin, but also think they could make better youtube demo of it.. anyway I will give it a go with a demo plugin soon. I'm happy for you that it useful and works for you.
Yeah, I'm not in the best treated room, don't have the best monitors in the world (Yamaha HS8s), but I clearly heard a significant difference when he bypassed and activated it.

So if you crank the tame, the sound will move into the background, and if you crank the recover it goes into the background?

Just got it today. LOVE IT!!!!
Super Tutorial introducing this plugin! 👍🏻👏🏻🙏🏻

Had the same thought!
On actually using the plugin the former comment is correct - brightness does nothing unless tame and/or recover have been engaged.
Aha! it's Brilliant!!!like magic a slong as your mix is tight!
I don't really understand the need for the bias option. If you want to lean more toward "tame" why not just increase "tame", and vice versa? What does bias do differently?

I think what they mean is that it might change the effect of tame and recover even though you're not touching those knobs directly.
Could I please have a discount?

Heeey, it's Music Tech Help Guy! 😄
It says on your site when I go to buy that it's a 'personal licence'. I assume this means just a single copy, it covers commercial use though?
Yes, the Soundtheory licence completely covers all commercial uses.
love an eq tutorial with strong sibilance lol

@@metalhead3ecr you’re right. I wrote this before having really spent time with Gulfoss, now I use both of them regularly. Both excellent plugins.

oh thats what they do!
