Thanks for the great video. This plugin has been a secret weapon for me for some time. Another really good use is using it as an analyser. I run tracks or whole songs through it to see what it tames or recovers. I then apply these boosts or attenuation with my own favourite EQs. Handy trick.
I discovered Gullfoss by accident, got curious and downloaded the 14 trial. I put it on 3-4 tracks on the master buss and was immediately sold and floored. I bought it 20 mins after trying it. That's a record for me! If used without abusing it, it will take your mixes to the next level. I Recover and Tame anywhere from 25-30% tops on already good but busy mixes. After Gullfoss I can now hear everything clearer and with more dimension. Now I'm wondering how I ever lived without it. The best $200 (U.S Dollars) I've spent in a long time on a plugin, plus now they've added the Live and Mastering version which is even more precise. Awesome plugin!
I got Gulfoss and Sonible’s smart bundle last year. I definitely like Gulfoss as a final/master EQ, as well as for groups (yes, I’m a Cubase user 😁) and for instruments with complex/dynamic timbres (pads basically).
Thank you, Dom. Great highlight video as usual! Gullfoss has lived on my master buss and on many track plugin chains for the last few years. Totally relate to your assessment.
such a great plug in thanks for uploading. learned alot from you dom and yet you showed me how many things i can do with EQ and this eq is just such an amazing tool for vocals and guitars. i will get this plug in to use with my guitar and vocals for sure.
when you played the rock track it really sold me to look into this..I love how it simply transformed the whole track..the crisp high heads are even more present and the whole track becomes buttery smooth.
I've heard good things about Gullfoss but I haven't really paid attention, until I saw this video. I'm honestly amazed by the clarity it gives. I am testing out the demo in the meantime. Great presentation Dom! :)
Another GREAT video. This plug is that magic, secret sauce wizardry in action! Thanks for making the controls and functionality clearly articulated. A+
generous man - awesome plugin everyone should have! :) And again - I really love your style of explaining the stuff - always something to learn! If there is a chance that you would make a video about Oeksound´s Soothe 2, I would be so happy!
Looking forward to this! I have the Gullfoss - plugin, and am using it. So I am really looking forward to see your professional expertise on using the Gullfoss plugin!
thanks again Dom for another fantastic review...I learn so much from you, this is one plus point to this crazy lockdown, I have time to really improve my person.
Incredible plug-in, from what I've seen in your video. I definitely have to try this out on my new projects as well as trying to re-master my previously release projects. Great to see AI/ML being applied to my music!
Hi @domsigalas , I m a Cubase fanatic user and love your work. I found more about Gullfoss when I was searching for a plugin as alternative price for the Soothe2. The best definition for this kind of plugin would not be exactly simply an EQ but a "dynamic resonance suppressor". About hte giveway I m in !! Thanks for your great videos always.
I’d call this plug-in the “Mixus Fixus”. It’s very impressive but I can’t see myself using it much. Maybe if I’m in an alcohol haze and want to check my hearing, but I wouldn’t trust my mix to something this invasive. Maybe a vocal stem. Hearing and watching your examples, I would kill for a ‘speed’ knob.
In real life you would use much lower values for recover and tame (not more than 10) than for demonstration purposes in a TH-cam video, then it sounds much less invasive. If you want more control, Voxengo TEOTE does a similar thing (albeit with a different technology behind) with more control possibilities, and imho better sound when doing more drastic processing.
Coming from the premiere with no IG account :) I think this could be very helpful on some orchestral strings too, as older libraries can sound a bit harsh sometimes. Would welcome a comparison with Soothe if you feel like it ! Sorry if I was meant to tag 2 friends here on TH-cam, I don’t have any unfortunately. Thank you for the video and keep up the good work ! You convinced me to switch from Logic to Cubase as soon as I can, and thanks to you I can’t wait to have the mean to acquire a Montage :) Cheers !
Hi Alexis! I am happy to include you in the draw since you were in the livestream. How do I contact you if you win though? That’s the main reason we decided to make this an Instagram Draw. :)
@@DomSigalas Hi Dom, just created an IG account in order to facilitate the whole thing. Still no friends there but should help just in case (fingers crossed !). Cheers :)
Sorry Dom for asking a very off topic question........I am planning to buy a Yamaha mx61 keyboard I have seen a few videos about it but I wanted to ask you is that really a good choice for live situations? Do I have to get stuff like mainstage to get it to play live or would it work in a very "hardware" way?
Hi Dom, great presentation, wish I had some audio friends beyond 1 :( but never mind. I tried to purchase with the discount code on the Gulfoss website but says invalid discount code still. Maybe they haven't put it into their website yet?
Great review Dom, I had already tried the demo, but due to financial reasons in my beautiful Argentina, I couldn't afford it, it cost me three times as much. It is a go tool for the workflow. PS I don't have #Audiogeeks friends ☹️. Let's try the giveaway, Hugs and greetings
I was on the premiere - would have loved to take part on the instagram thing but unfortunately ... I have no friends on instagram (yet). Can I join anyway?
you Got it my friend! No need to tag friends as you were in the Premiere :) Can you comment on IG though so I can contact you and include you in the draw?

The best out there, we need more scientist in the music scene to develop more dope plugins like Gulfoss :D

The most used eq like this is the Soothe by Oeksound, a classic plugin.
Thanks SO MUCH, DOM!!! I have been looking for savings on Gullfoss DESPERATELY!
Thanks for the discount! I ordered it. Works well with Classical music, too.
How are you finding it with bagpipes?!
@@SoundtheoryLtd I tried it and it works fine. Provides some choices for a person’s taste in bite versus mellow.
Yes another Dom video!!! Every time a new video is out, it makes me want to open my Cubase and jam! Thanks for the high quality video every time!
Amazing. I follow you since I met you in Cubase and Wavelab videos. Since then I am learning a lot. Thanks

Once again very cool.. keep up the great work Dom.
Dom's ears and a little part of his great EQ knowledge as a plugin, I can't believe it.....
Hi Dom, it looks very well. I think it's a good tool for insert in the bus master. 👍

Very cool. Most likely I would use it on the Master Bus 😁😎
Cool content Dom. Thank you!
Also there are TEOTE from Voxengo and soothe2 from oeksound that are doing pretty the same.

So funny I seriously just bought this less than a week ago and my same thoughts exactly as it’s already saved me much time
Thx for the code.
Will definately check the demo !

I was gonna buy it but I missed the promotion period 😞

woah that EQ is expensive. Great video though, others have raved about Gulfoss, too. Keep em coming!
Thank you Dom!!!!

Have you tried the Sonible plugins? Love using the compressor for side chain ducking.
Where in your mastering chain would you put this? beginning or end?
Beginning
Nice

Hey Brian, just checked and works here- make sure you use SIGALAS30 at checkout.
Interesting what would you say about soothe 2 plugin, I know its a bit different thing than gullfoss, but anyways
as for me I would use it in mastering situation, and soothe for individual tracks, but I'll wait for black friday for sales
@@Jura_JS ive read many threads about it and they generally say the thing u just did
:O Great!
Just curious. Is this along the same lines of the automated mastering software that some companies use?
How will you use it in the future? Will it stay on any channel/track presets?
It's a super useful tool to get a great starting point for channels that demand a bit of polishing and refinement!
Are you still using the Gullfoss plugin?
Absolutely! I show it a lot on my course too :)

Cheating??......kind of 😏. Here's one fear with these Harry Potter plugs, will it make mixers a little lazy??
Would use on vocals and drums ...names @bang_the_box on ig
