It’s good to know I’m not the only one that isn’t a fan of how the coyote sounds. I think they sound alright with flowmaster mufflers, but other than that I’m not a huge fan of the sound. ESPECIALLY with a corsa exhaust, god they sound awful.

it's hard to believe the S197 is so good when they had no competition in that era from GM or Chrysler.... When the s197 came out, they had already discontinued the camaro and firebird a couple years earlier and Chrysler didn't have anything for decades that was in the same segment. Yet and still ford put together a great package that was out there being competitive all by itself. Maybe that is why the Mustang has survived all these years with great success, ford has always put together a solid fun affordable sporty car for the masses no matter what is going on in the economy or with the competition.
I have a 2006 Mustang GT with 35,000 miles, tons of handling mods, braking mods and some bolt ons. Making 376hp crank. These 3 valves are amazing and reliable, one of the last brute Mustangs, just ABS and Traction Control. S197 from 2005 to 2009 are worth buying.
You can find good deals too I paid $4k for mine because reverse is sketchy and the clutch is tough to push (og owner put a twin disk in, 2nd owner smoked it and put a stock clutch back in with the aftermarket throw out.) Every part of it has been worked or upgraded. I got an incredible deal, others are out there. Full aftermarket suspension, wheels, exhaust, interior, exterior, a tune, strut brace, brakes, you name it.
I miss my S197 2007 GT. It was my first Mustang and I purchased it new in 2008 when I was 19 years old. Drove it well over 100k miles with almost no issues!
This is it. This is the sound I want for my 3V. I've seen countless videos of people's exhausts on their 3Vs, but none ever captured the sound I wanted. This is it and it came stock from Shelby. This is the goal for me. I love the early S197s. I don't care how much "better" the newer ones are.
i owned a 2006 mustang gt, and had to sell it to get a car suitable for montana winters, unfortunately. Gonna watch this video a trillion times living vicariously through it until i can buy another.
I had a Screaming Yellow ‘05 GT for a year a while back. It was my first V8. Spent a lot of time with my dad on it. The chop that it had from the cams we put in it was beautiful. Ended up having to sell it because of how far my commute is to university :’(
The deep rumble of Ford’s 3V cannot be beaten. Some say underpowered, but I say just right. Love the new Coyote’s and each generation that ford has put out of the motor, but it just isn’t the same sound.
Pretty cool car but too expensive, in my opinion, based on the actual upgrades for the money. In 2007, a Mustang GT Premium started at $27,500, "Shelby GT" package was $8,400 (I'm looking at a window sticker of a GT turned Shelby GT) so $36,000, and a GT500 was $43,000 (both Shelby GT and GT500 prices include gas guzzler tax). So for $8,400 you lose a spoiler, but get upgraded dampers with stiffer lowering springs, upgraded front and rear sway bars with strut tower brace, Hurst short throw shifter, cold air intake, mufflers with X pipe, a tune, 18" Mustang wheels, modified hood with hood scoop and pins, and minor stuff, along with Shelby serial number (something a lot of Shelby people care about). To me, it's just a Mustang GT with some upgrades. I would rather get a GT and modify it to my liking or pay an extra $7,000 on top of Shelby GT upgrade and have an actual GT500 built from the ground up by Ford. $15,500 more than a GT Premium but you get a very different car, with a different engine (supercharged 5.4 liter 500 hp vs 4.6 liter Mustang GT engine with minor upgrades that's making 319 hp) and 6 speed transmission vs 5 speed in Shelby GT that's again straight from regular Mustang GT, plus Hurst short throw shifter. But it's good to have options for any budget,
dang i haven't heard a 4.6 in a long time, dare i say it sounds better than a coyote? deeper more muscular sound that fits the character of the mustang
I have a base model 08 Mustang with the automatic. 200K miles basically and has proven to be solid, despite going through 10+ owners. Had an opportunity to buy one new, (blue, silver stripes) but bought the Bullitt edition instead. The Bullitt was $3200 cheaper and had just 4 hp. less, about the same suspension, and it came with an CAI too, I could live with that. But sometime I think "What If?" Yeah, the Bullitt is out in the garage, but will be taken out for a nice long drive tomorrow.
I wish I had money. I would love to have that car always wanted the Mustang, but it is the money situation. Always makes it rough and she looks very beautiful for her age.
i like the s197, s550 and the s650 v8 mustangs. i do hope 1 day i can own either gen mustang gt, do some simple bolt on mods like headers, exhaust, and a cold air intake so i can use it as my "fun car" with obviously some suspension upgrades to accommodate the fun and an extra set of tires
This is my favorite “stock” mustang of all time. The look is timeless, and the driving experience is perfectly analog. It’s not the fastest car they’ve ever produced but in terms of a fun to drive road car it’s unbeatable. The GT500 is obviously faster but I feel like the supercharger whine takes away from the V8 sound. Not to mention, the Shelby GT is 100% usable power on the street. If I were in the market for a weekend toy, this would be the one.
this is awesome, I got a '08 GTCS as my first car and seeing topher drive one is really cool. 4.6s may be slow but that sound is stellar especially with this exhaust setup.
