Not for me. All the characters were selfish, arrogant brats. The only character I had any respect for, by the end, was Starbuck, and they ruined her. And, the scripts were to predictable.
This show was awesome and Athena was probably one of my first celebrity crushes. Favorite episode was Starbuck crash landing and facing the Cylon “Red Eye”, I think that was the name the locals gave him.
That was the episode "The Lost Warrior", where Apollo crash lands on the planet Equellus. When Apollo goes to town, it's like a wild West atmosphere. The Cylon named "Red Eye" thinks that LaCerta (the town boss) is the Imperious Leader. LaCerta resembles Boss Hogg in that white hat and suit. Loved it when Apollo smoked Red Eye in that duel.

“The Cylons had developed the revolutionary tactic of targeting the bridge. Even more remarkable was that this tactic was not done earlier - for decades the exposed ship bridge was a common warship design. Why no strategist had thought of this sooner remains a mystery.”
One thing I always loved about this episode was that there was two NEW spaceship model scenes, and not just recycling of the same old ones (though they were in this episode as well. 1) @2:34 When the Cyclon Raider was turning in front of the Galactica to make its suicide run on the bridge. 2) @3:30 When the Cyclon Raider suicide runs into the landing bay. First time either of those model scenes were shown.
The music and sound effects from this show still trigger a sense of wonder in me. The sci fi of the late 70s led me to a technology career. I remember the first time I sat in my home on a wireless network and connected to and managed a server on the other side of the world. It was a piece of sci fi becoming reality.
I loved BSG as a kid. I remember my parents (RIP Dad) took me to a sci-fi double bill at one of the old Derby cinemas (the ABC, I think): Battlestar Galactica 2 and Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. It was fantastic!! My Mum fell asleep . . . . I never did understand why! 😂😂😂😂
I really loved this show back in the day. I also loved the new one. The toys they had back then for BSG were also really cool. You know....I've always wondered why the Viper pilots always had helmets that made them resemble Egyptian headdresses.
I was 17 when this hit the airwaves. Liked the show, the characters, the space saga story, the Egyptian style helmets, guess they where hinting at that their ancestors visited earth in ancient times. It was pretty wild how the viper would shoot out of the launch tube with that very extremely loooong exhaust flume. Thought it was going to burn all of its fuel up. Prob. a lot of guys back then fantasized about meeting and hooking up with Sheba ( Anne Lockhart ), me included. Oh well I guess a lonely boy can dream. In 1980 I even bought one of those fake knockoff colonial warrior jackets( but didn't know it at the time) from the back of Starlog magazine I believe. When it arrived it was med thick cotton and drab olive green, NOT brown like the TV show. And it lost it's shape after 2 or 3 machine washings ! Yeah my family and I used to watch and enjoy this show in it's first and only season 78'-79'. I specifically remember the episode were they were down on a ice planet to destroy a Cylon super weapon and avoid being detected by those chrome headed toasters. it was a nail biting 2 parter I believe.Yeah those were some fond memories. Wish I could go to Comic Con or a convention and meet the rest of the surviving cast.
this is why you put the CIC in the heart of the ship. My father in law was an officer on the USS Benington when she blew up-he was on duty in the CIC and while the flight deck was gone, they barely felt the explosion
A massive explosion rocks the entire ship. And causes a massive shockwave that ripples within the ship. In the rejuvenation center, massive damage causes many to be injured from the blast. Athena: "I thought we were too far inside to take a laser hit." Boomer: "We are! That was something else!" While Boomer and Athena take stock of the damage.they start attending to the wounded members.
If 8 Raiders made it... Galactica would have ended up like Atlantia lol. Solonite seems to be the C-4 of the OG BSG universe. Mainly used for demolition.
I always wondered by they didn't have half their raiders fight back and the other half do a sort of flank and ram. And not just ram the Galactica, but other ships as well. And with the Galactica largely taken out, why didn't the base ships keep attacking?
@@gregorydahl Other way around. Raiders ram every ship. Without the civilian ships, the rest is kind of pointless and resupply and support becomes a real issue.
Too bad this never became a full-fledge film series like Star Wars or Star Trek. I personally feel that the writing for Battlestar Galatica was so much better than the other two and the story more compelling.
I look at the placement of the reinforcement bars in the cockpit glass of the Vipers. Good thing they have a targeting screen for firing - talk about blind spots for the pilot!!

@@thiefofa1073 Also, the battlestars had dedicated launch tubes and clearly-defined recovery bays. We see ISDs with fighter launch capability, but not all at once, and their recovery bays aren't as pronounced.
The original show was awesome for the day,but the re-imagination in the 2000’s took it to another level.
A awful level could not make it through the first esp.
They did a great job on the reboot
The first orginal BSG was a series about Hope,
The reboot BSG was a series about paranoia.
The orginal series was a joy to watch
The reboot was disgusting.
Not for me. All the characters were selfish, arrogant brats. The only character I had any respect for, by the end, was Starbuck, and they ruined her. And, the scripts were to predictable.
The reboot was terrible
I had such high hopes for this show.
This show was awesome and Athena was probably one of my first celebrity crushes. Favorite episode was Starbuck crash landing and facing the Cylon “Red Eye”, I think that was the name the locals gave him.
That was Apollo; great episode.
Thanks for the update, had my pilots switched@@darthplagueis66
Thanks for the update, I had my pilots switched, didn't he also kinda fall for one of the female townspeople, I think she had a son also?@@lindaoneil5085
Une d'est meilleur des meilleures séries des années fin 70.❤❤❤
Just an amazing and outstanding scene!!
Galactica was a wonderful mix of "hard scifi" and space opera as this episode demonstrates
I wish the SCI fi channel would still air old shows like this and buck Rodgers
Biddi, biddi, biddi!
Best show of the 70/80’s 👍🏼
Cool ships - Loved the toys.
This was my favourite show. ❤
The Cylons were cool as hell. They had awesome robotic voices.
Excellent show 👏 👌 ❤
The music and sound effects from this show still trigger a sense of wonder in me. The sci fi of the late 70s led me to a technology career. I remember the first time I sat in my home on a wireless network and connected to and managed a server on the other side of the world. It was a piece of sci fi becoming reality.
I remember this show like it was yesterday. Couldn't wate until the next episode. I even had a plastic model of a Viper.
I used watch this as a kid on tv…..it was the coolest thing ever
The best laser cannon sound and the best robot voices
Baltar: Burn Galactica! YOU'RE FINISHED, ADAMA! 😈😈😈😈
Actually that was from the episode "The Living Legend" with Lloyd Bridges playing Commander Cain, the commander of the Battlestar Pegasus.
My favorite episode from BOTH versions of the series.
Loved this show as a kid!!
From Episode Fire In Space
I remember this show 😅👍🍻
¡Esta serie era lo mejor para ver en aquellos años y me trae muy hermosos recuerdos muchas gracias por su realización es única!👍😊
EL MAS DRAMATICO EPISODIO DE GALACTICA , ASTRONAVE DE COMBATE.
One of my favorite shows
I loved this show as a kid
Super amazing cutting edge 8 bit computer graphics!!!
Loved that show back in the day...
this was the coolest TV series as a kid. I used to draw vipers all over my duotangs.
I used to have frequent fights with my parents over bedtime hour, when this came on
this is why you put the CIC in the heart of the ship. My father in law was an officer on the USS Benington when she blew up-he was on duty in the CIC and while the flight deck was gone, they barely felt the explosion
The first series of Battle Galactica was first broadcast in New Zealand in 1981 - it was a great time to be an 11 year old - very exciting
A massive explosion rocks the entire ship. And causes a massive shockwave that ripples within the ship. In the rejuvenation center, massive damage causes many to be injured from the blast.
Athena: "I thought we were too far inside to take a laser hit."
Boomer: "We are! That was something else!"
While Boomer and Athena take stock of the damage.they start attending to the wounded members.
Glass on a space ship, great idea. They even had it in the remake.
MUITO BOM esse episódio 👏👏👏
This is the best one.
I love this show I have the whole collection dvd
If 8 Raiders made it... Galactica would have ended up like Atlantia lol.
Solonite seems to be the C-4 of the OG BSG universe. Mainly used for demolition.
More like the 'Semtex' of the Cylon Empire.
Must be a pretty powerful explosive. They mentioned it in the episode Gun on Ice Planet Zero.
Nothing better for night vision than to put a row of lights right inside your helmet.
I always wondered by they didn't have half their raiders fight back and the other half do a sort of flank and ram. And not just ram the Galactica, but other ships as well.
And with the Galactica largely taken out, why didn't the base ships keep attacking?
The fleet could always have rammed the cylons but the galactica was the hope for survival in a stalemate .
@@gregorydahl Other way around. Raiders ram every ship. Without the civilian ships, the rest is kind of pointless and resupply and support becomes a real issue.
R.I.P. Mr. Terry Carter, who just recently passed away.
I remember when the series first began in 1978. Then became Battlestar galactic 1980.
Too bad this never became a full-fledge film series like Star Wars or Star Trek. I personally feel that the writing for Battlestar Galatica was so much better than the other two and the story more compelling.
Fire in space episode was edited in movie Mission Galactica cycon attack. In also including the living legend episode too.
Still cannot belleive this went only one season...it was prety damn cool.
I look at the placement of the reinforcement bars in the cockpit glass of the Vipers. Good thing they have a targeting screen for firing - talk about blind spots for the pilot!!
The Vipers are such an awesome design. It. Pete Mitchell would be in heaven!
Loved watching Mission Galactica in the cinema. Theatrical version of The Living Legend
R.I.P.,Terry Carter,Lorne Greene and Richard Lawrence Hatch.
0:33 Was disappointed this little piece of music wasn't included in the Stu Phillips _Galactica_ music set. And the music from the Cylon attack on the _Delphi_ in _Galactica 1980._
Agreed about the latter. Wasn't the first piece you listed tracked from "The Living Legend"?
@@darthplagueis66 It was used when Starbuck took Apollo's place on the patrol into the void in "Lost Planet of the Gods," when the Viper escort for the _Pegasus_ shuttles back the _Galactica_ launched in "The Living Legend," and here in "Fire in Space" as the Vipers are forming up to meet the incoming Cylon kamikaze attack. This short piece does not appear to have been included in any soundtrack release.
Always liked this show when I was a kid. An eagle eyed electronics nerd can spot all the Tektronix test and measurement gear that were used as props. Tektronix TM 500 series mainframe units were used to mimic ship instrumentation. Tektronix 4051 computers were used to create the tactical displays.
