Thanks for sharing this, we played with Grand Staff in the finals when they won in Washington DC at Howard University. The Distance Band. We met Lou Rauls and had a great time.
Hi Laberge, thanks for showing this I was the drummer for Sugahh & this is really rare! Cool to see us on the thumbnail too! One day I'll add a Sugahh video from showdown.
This is the best comment I've ever received. Knowing someone who actually participated in the event watched this makes me so happy. Thank you for contributing to music :)
I have one of these records! I found it for 3 bucks in a record store in a small as hell Oregon town even though the record was from Los Angeles. I've seen it sold for 700 dollars, The Wizard by Finesse. Never gonna sell it probably, a gem of my collection, a MAJOR jam too.
Really interesting! Some really hot stuff here! As you noted really strong productions and songwriting on a lot of these! Never heard of this before thanks for sharing.
did some research on foxy fatts and company. according to this interesting article www.al.com/entertainment/2014/11/foxxy_fatts_longtime_birmingha.html , foxxy was a very active jazz and blues musician who sadly passed away in 2014 at the age of 65. the band's facebook page shows them performing as late as 2013, playing at jazz festivals and the like. he even was inducted into the alabama jazz hall of fame in 1997.
hey. i already commented on this one, but i need to reach out again for a different reason: so basically, there is an active online search going for the identity of a particular song snippet that sounds very 80s and like some kind of pop-oriented funk; think debarge. if you search for "unknown song everyone knows that" on youtube, you'll find it; it sadly is only a few seconds long. i immediately thought that it kinda sounds like something from budweiser showdown, and remembered your video. i know this is a shot in the dark, very random and i don't expect you to know the whole budweiser discography by heart, but if you do recognize the track, an answer would be very appreciated.
Yo! I still haven't found it but I did see Rolling Stone wrote an article about it! www.rollingstone.com/culture/culture-features/everyone-knows-that-lost-mystery-song-1234875326/

That's incredible! The fact I've reached a few people who participated was a bit of a side goal of the video :)

That is incredible! I would love to make a find like that, jealous :)
Rather rad mini Doc, thanks for this
also sampling "slide my love" for that funk
Yeah, I'd like to make a few more like this. This was a fun project!

Thanks, this was a little experimental set of videos I created. I may make more someday.
Super cool, tons of new info to me. Appreciate the video!
Sick video, it's ironic that a beer company put on a contest and most of the music has been forgotten or lost lol!
Well done with the vid. There are some definite winners on the ole Bud Show!
Thanks man, more vids to come soon!
Thanks for putting this together!
Thanks for watching
