It is intriguing to me that a person can be born with this tendency. Genetics? Missing chromosome? . @Ju Gru You know what, that IS a good point, that it may have helped the situation. Maybe, maybe not, though.
His son is a psycho-killer. I don't blame anyone but him, but usually stopping the pressure and tension and expectation is a good idea with psychos.
Chandler would have lied some more, of course, might have followed through anyway, sure, but at least odds would have been smaller.
I don't know what the dad was contemplating; Maybe just knew he would get lied to and oh-so tired of his son's b.s....
But I definitely don't blame him. The parents seemed like rarely wonderful people to keep a house in order, which is not something many of us bother to do with what we own, ourselves.

Compassion is the key ingredient for raising children. You have to teach them compassion by the time they're 8 years old. Having a consistent routine and at least one person in their corner is also essential and minimizing trauma as much as is possible. The one thing you can't really control is if they are born with psychopathy and there are ways to tell early on and there are psychologists and psychiatrists that can help the child not turn into a criminal - but psychopathy is pretty rare. Odds are you will not have a child with psychopathy which is basically a type of brain damage/disorder they are born with.

The nail in the coffin was the shame of them finding out he’s a deadbeat all this time, which most likely sent their son into a manic survival mode & instead of owning up to his lies- he decided to throw his parents (which were merely a means to an end) to the side (by killing them) & instead of facing the now, ultra shame- he decided to do what he does best- & that’s to continue the lying & keep his facade going as long as possible. The full trial is on YT. The way they proved what times he was burning them in the fireplace was based on a neighbors camera. It's barely a few pixels wide, but they matched the window from the fireplace room frame by frame that night and you can see the fire build up, and die, and build up again and then burn out of control before going out. That's when the fireplace glass shattered. Their fat cells were rendering out and having fans blowing in caused an "oven fire" or "grease fire". He tried to throw water on it but we all know what happens when you throw water on a grease fire.
He was proven guilty more detailed than anyone else I have ever seen. Day by day and hour by hour for a whole week he left evidence EVERYWHERE.

Well, it always happens close to someone’s home. It’s crazy how many people are murdered. I knew two people who ended up murdered (separate incidents) and I knew of two other people who were murdered who were brothers of extended family through marriage. Just today, I was thinking about how when something bad happens, people say they thought it was something that happened to other people. What does that even mean? Other people are us, and we are other people. We’re all “other people” to most people.

Seeing Bart in that "Incredible Dad" shirt, smiling really broke my heart. It humanized him even more for me. Even when you accept the reality of death and it's inevitability it's so hard to truly *accept* that someone is dead when your staring at a picture of them happy and innocent.
Also seeing Krista's text. Informal and happy.
It would be easier to believe they were murderers or killed by a stranger. But murdered by their own son with no warning? Truly my brain refuses to grasp it.
They were just like us. Living life day-to-day and it all abruptly stopped by someone who they raised and supported and trusted. It's that easy to die. I know this but my brain just refuses to grasp it.

Also, he writes the scripts for all his TH-cam videos, and his mother writes the scripts of his podcasts. Half of those podcasts, though, are retellings of videos he's already made, so those must be somewhat easier to do. My thinking is that it's great that he and his mother get along so well, to want to tell these stories. I am starting to learn Spanish, and look forward to watching the videos on his Spanish channel! Mr. Ballen has this beautiful performative style of relaying seemingly innocuous details of every crime/weird event he covers, making each video so very compelling and fascinating. Axis, I'm so glad you brought up Matt Orchard because he is so underrated, his crime/controversial subject documentaries are riveting and his narration/style of storytelling is truly unmatched in the vast TH-cam true crime content community. He's so good at dissecting a person's motives and and their decisions leading up to something tragic or controversial from EVERY angle, and furthermore, I appreciate how he always asks us as the audience well-thought-out questions and points of skepticism we may never have thought to ask ourselves, even those of us already familiar with some of the infamous stories he covers. I love how engaged and engrossed i get with each video. His weird cult video was soooo good, i couldn't even be bothered to multi-task whilst watching it. My eyes were just glued on the video from start to finish.
Also IF you like Matt Orchard and Mr. Ballen, PLEASE do me a favor and check out the channel: "dreading (crime and psychology)". The narrator's voice takes a bit to warm up to, but his way of delivering his content and his acute observations on the crimes/stories/events he creates are just all gems, truly. He has this way of throwing in underhanded comments throughout his videos (he probably has an outline for his videos and then will remember, as he's telling the story, some offensive or horrid detail about the various vile criminals featured in his videos, and he'll suddenly say something along the lines of "What the f*ck" under his breath, referring to the criminal's motives or decision-making for example. There's nothing contrived about it. I cant really describe the "je ne sais quoi" appeal of his videos. They're just special, like Matt Orchard's. You won't regret it! A lot like Matt's, kind of, they're each unique in their own way.
Sorry guys for this ridiculously long unnecessary tangent.

The Son clearly would have presented a Lot of red flags, early in his developing childhood. The parents clearly ignored his perpetual lies and manipulation games, and probably figured he might grow out of it... rather than having him diagnosed for a personality disorder.
A normal healthy person, does not do these types of things. This is a Mentally Ill radical, with Narcissistic personality Disorder. He was obsessed with "IMAGE", and was far too lazy, to be bothered to work hard to achieve his goals. His parents were infringing on his chosen lifestyle of being a bum... and so he did what the worst Narcissists would do: To exploit and end them.
Thing is... Narcissists may come off as being intelligent.. but they tend to lack any depth of common sense, and logical thinking. This is why they tend to end up getting caught. Look at Amber Heard's trial.. and you will see the same thing.
Females in general, are very cautious, and have greater (over-amplified) levels of emotional connection. Its part of the developed Biological traits... which are designed to connect deeper with their children, so that they do no just leave them when danger approaches. The obsessive nature over the environment, was also developed, to help prevent the children from getting sick or injured. As such, its in your very Genetics, to be cautious and careful.

Well this ignorance and this blind faith parents had even while doubting still turning your back, letting someone you doubt live in your house. Then you have it coming for you.
If his father had done more before this, and did actions to seperate him out of doubt until he shows proof of some then this could maybe been avoided. and if it still happened then it would be tragic. But this is deserved. Ignorance comes with a price. Sometimes that means your life. Never be ignorant.

He threatened to Kill us all, all but our other Brother--whom he claimed to have loved--yet he killed HIS son. He was pure evil, and spent his life in and out of Prisons. He died from injuries sustained in Prison--injuries from the Guards, who he was beating to a pulp at the time. (It took 20 of them to subdue him) He died several years after my Parents had died (from cancer). They had lived to the age of 80, my brother made it to nearly 58. Yeah that is a LOT of lies to keep track of. However if you're not working or doing anything with your life it's likely not as hard as we might think to be able to keep track of all the lies and what not. Hell part of his time he spent "working at home" could have been him reflecting/taking notes on his lies to make sure he always had his story straight. The guy just looks like a slippery dirt bag at first glance honestly. What a terrible thing to do though... your family are the only people you can ever really depend on throughout all the changes in your life as friends come and go... so for him to destroy that aspect of his life to protect a lie rather than let them help him get his life together (after a huge argument of course and having to feel feelings of having let everyone down) and have a shot at a decent future just goes to show how unintelligent and selfish this guy truly is. I truly hope he never gets out of prison. People like that have no place in society and I think it's pretty much impossible for someone like him to ever redeem themselves.

My cousin did the same. Kept saying he made it into medical school like his sister. My aunt was so proud that her son was going to be a doctor. Paid his tuition (at great cost to herself), paid his housing and whenever he came close to quitting she paid for vacations to Acapulco or Cancun to take his mind off of school.
In reality he was just lying the entire time. Thankfully when he got caught he just threw a tantrum.
Jesus Christ, a landmine would deal with pressure better than Chandler. It might have killed less people as well.

Yesss. Like I think this story is so messed up because it’s crazy relatable. Like those parents could be mine… they loved their children, my mom was and is kinda a hovering mom no matter old I am and my dad has always gone out of his way for me and the there for sure was a total fear of disappointing them so my brother did great and was also an Eagle Scout and I struggled and then got it it together. Neverrr in a million years could I imagine doing what this kid did and it’s just like scary and disconcerting and heartbreaking because he has the type of parents that would’ve been mad about his lies sure, but they would’ve gotten over it because they loved him but he couldn’t deal with disappointing them so he just murdered them and chopped them up… that’s messed up

We can never even remotely think about killing someone, as normal thinking persons. But taking it t a step further, killing your own family which was your whole life kind and loving. But to add some more unbelievable steps forward: to cut them into pieces and burn them? He had no issues with his parents. They weren’t treating him bad so he must have a bad feeling about them. How can you do this? This must me an undetected psychopath. Sure his life was about to fall apart but he had the chance to do a restart. Loosing all the thrust but trying to make out a living, it wasn’t too late. But with his actions he truly destroyed his and his families life.

Sometimes those minorities are really dangerous and take complete control over you. But its incorrect to say that your consciousness is your brain. Sometimes it’s impossible to remember which lie was told to who and when. Yes there’s times when lying might be your only option to survive. Not cause you’re lazy and don’t wanna work. It’s very freeing to be honest, as long as it’s not done in a vindictive and hurtful way. But with respect if deserved. I used to lie a lot due to situations I’ve been in but I finally decided no more. All lying does is cause chaos and breaks trust. Sometimes all I have is my word but if I’m lying it’s useless. How can people trust I’d keep my word if I lie? So now I make sure my word means something by being honest at all times. My loyalty, love and any promises I make is never questioned BECAUSE I don’t lie. Stay strong cause you GOT THIS!! 😊

he just needs Jesus. Trust me. I know from experience. Jesus really is the one and only Son of God and Savior of humanity and the world. (Why would we lie about that??? What do we get in return for that "lie"? nothing but ridicule and being cast out of society. Look at what Jesus's original disciples got for telling the world about Him - they were killed. So I hope you can take my word for it. I wish you could understand how true it is - Jesus is pure Good. They say He is "the way, the truth, and the life." That is spot on. If you care about your son, let him know about this please. If you are tired of trying all of the world's ways, just sit with him one night, and tell him about how Jesus loves him and can save him@@susanfirey2033
