- today we are going to retire my almost 6 years old Acer predator Helios 300 laptop - and we will unbox- upgrade the storage and ram of the new Asus TUF Gaming F15 (FX507ZI). We are using the device mainly for content creation (video editing). We also upgraded the RAM from 16gb to 32gb and added and an additional 2tb solid state drive storage. We will show you how to install the added hardware.
none of this was sponsored, we used our own resources to acquire the devices.
This laptop is equipped with:

Covered alot of my questions! Great thorough review
i have the same asus laptop too, mine is with i7-12700H, RTX 4060, upgraded 24gb RAM (32 will be soon), 3TB SSD (C disk is samsung 990 pro 2TB for boot drive and D disk is kingston NV2 1TB for everything drive). i'm really impressed with my asus TUF F15 and i would continue using for many years 🥰
This was one of the best reviews I've ever seen.
very kind of you, thank you =)
Nice and detailed review with upgrade recommendations. Sweet rig with brushless motor that will definitely cool that laptop more efficiently. Good buy man.
thank you bro! it flies!
Thank for calling out macbook users ehem... lmao
@@thequalityadventure😂shots fired lol tinamaan 😂
Thanks for the video, not a lot of channels are covering this badboy. I just grabbed this one up will be here in December. Must appreciated keep it up brother :)
congrats on your new rig!
Thanks for the heads up on the ram bottleneck, getting the same model today actually! With 24gb ram , i7, rtx 3050 as i do content creation and want to get some gaming at the side as well. Great video!
Great video. Purchased this laptop based on your review
very good value and performance
hey there ✌️
thanks for the good work mate ....
may you talk more about these device maybe like long live stream so we may interact directly and may some gaming on it won't be wrong 😅
again thanks for your good work 🙏
I am actually about to pick up this laptop soon! Such a wild deal, hope the deal keeps going for a while, while i save up haha, this is more powerful than the desktop i built in 2012, i will be upgrading it to 32gb of ram tho.
its indeed best $$ and specs. handles everything i do- 32 gb is amazing
Thank you for video. Very informative. How did you get higher than 144hz on external monitor? Which port and cable was used 11:26 ? Sorry I’m not experienced in this . Subbed and liked . Keep it up 👍
you are welcome and thank you. your external monitor has its own hz- the higher the better for gaming- set you monitor to the max. plug it in on the hdmi port or
the usbc labeled on nvidia and that will use the laptops gpu.
@@BenjieMoreno Ty very much
Have you had any issues where the included SSD will sometimes spike to 100% usage with nothing going on? Seems to happen randomly. I've done a few tweaks and it happens a lot less but never figured out what was causing it. Found others with similar issues online, curious if you experienced the same.
That aside, amazing laptop. I also put in a secondary 2TB (sk hynix P41). It definitely slays for video editing and gaming alike. Hope to upgrade the ram to 32gb at some point.
i have not notice any spikes, ill keep an eye on it, 32 gb made a world of difference on editing.
so far, its taking everything i throw in it very easy
I bought the same laptop and I can confirm that it’s an amazing option! I hope this laptop lasts me at least a decade 😊
congrats!
Hey bro! Cool review!
Do you know if its cooled with thermal paste or liquid metal?
i have not cross that part yet but im almost 99% its a thermal paste atleast on TUF series- ROG has liquid metal. temps on this laptop is prettyl cool- i will make a video update when i cross that stage =)
Hello! may I know what your VRAM temperature is under load?
Same laptop that i buy last march 64gb ram 2tb ssd
Hi, I got this laptop recently and want to expand the storage with an additional SSD. In your recommendation, should I get the Samsung 980 pro with or without a heatsink? This is my first time upgrading my own pc and I’m curious if the heatsink would even fit on the ssd in this laptop?
i have not use a heat sink on a laptop set up, there might be one but its pretty tight spot back there. i would not advise one with sink in it.
@@BenjieMoreno thank you so much! I won’t go with the heat sink then
Hi, torned between the two:
TUF F15 15.6 - 144HZ
i7 - 12th gen H
RTX 4070
1 tb ssd
16gb DDR4
vs
Hp Victus 16.1 - 144HZ
i7 - 13th gen H
RTX 4070
1 tb ssd
16GB ddr5
Assuming it's the same price, it seems the Hp victus is at advantage of specs due to 13th gen processor and ddr5 of ram, however rumors said that hp victus got some lower quality of display of its sRGB and nits, do you have any reviews on the TUF F15 on its display? also they said that the DDR4 RAM (16GB) can be upgraded to not just 32GB (based on manufacturer) but 64GB confirmed by other verified user?
Which one to choose since hp victus got the advantage of specs, but not much of a review here, also any downside of the TUF F15 you found out? for these past months? TIA
if they have the same price- looks like hp wins with the stronger processor- the ddr5 for future proofing- yeah. but benchmark shows it has minimal performance contribution on the much tested and stable ddr4. i only used the monitor as 2nd screen, i do not utilize it that much on my workflow. 29 UW monitor has so much to offer on editing purposes. so far so good- laptop is a breeze to work with. amazing value over price
Hello,
Thank you for creating such a wonderful video.
I bought this laptop after watching your review.
I noticed that on the back of my laptop's box, it says "Made in China."
Could you please confirm if your laptop's box also mentioned "Made in China"? Additionally, is this laptop manufactured in China?
i have thrown the box- i believe this are all now assembled in china. as best as i can remember.
How's your personal experience going? Any thermal issue or ram issue( as it has DDR4 ) ?
its like a very warm butter knofe cutting a butter- 0 issues. ddr4 is time/benchmark tested and stable. audio/video processing is hiccup free
Hello...does ddr4 have a negative effect on working with Premiere or content creating?
absolutely not. its the other way around- ddr4 has been hanging out with premier pro for years… its stable and proof tested
999 on microcenter today
Hi! Could you please give me the weight of the box and its dimensions? I bought it and I need to know it for shipping. I would really appreciate it.
i have thrown the box
Whats the Max screen resolution? Fhd or 2k? Thanks
fhd 1080- 144hz
can you switch out the ram for a 4800mhz ddr5?
no you can not. this version can only accept ddr4
I’m new to this, from my understanding you installed two 16 GB ram cards or just one like how the video showed?
i installed 2 16gb, the laptop came with with 2 8gb from manufacturer
@@BenjieMoreno oh ok thank you! I bought this the ASUS - TUF 15.6" Gaming Laptop - Intel Core i7 with 16GB Memory - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 - 1TB SSD Model: FX507ZI-F15.I74070 for my college laptop, do you think it’s overkill?
@@AMAC6313 you gonna use this laptop on your entire college life- its more than sufficient- overkill? nah... with all the new application and software this modern day- i say your well equipped! congrats on your new rig!
@@BenjieMorenois this good for 4k & 1080 video editing? On programs like Vegas pro & AE & premiere sometimes while also a good 1080 & 1440 gaming experience with games like Spiderman or rdr 2 or maybe some future titles that are yet to come? I feel like rtx 4070 would a bit higher than 3070 in terms of performance.
@@Zain-yy6bm superb performance. my video files comes from 6k downscale to 4k files 8bit and 4k files on 10 bit, 4070 take it like a champ, i would advise to upgrade the ram to atleast 32 gb, editing softwares are ram hogs. other than that- this laptop is a beast- bump to performance setting on armour crate
Hi brother,
Thank you for making this video. Very informative
Basically, I'm considering buying the same laptop for 4k video editing and 3D modeling. Before making the purchase, I will ask 2 questions if you can answers then it will be very helpful.
Because you have hands-on-experience with it.
Question 1: Does Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects run smoothly for 4k video editing?
Question 2: Whenever you have some free time, could you please upscaling a low-resolution(144, 240, 360p) 10-minute video to (4k) using the 'Topaz Video AI' software? I want to know how long time it takes during rendering. (I can wait for 1 and 2 Weeks for your reply back. If you can do it, please proceed because my reason for buying this laptop is 80% rendering on Topaz Video AI software)
Thanks bunch!
i have 0 issues edting 4k files on this computet- 0 hiccups. upscaling lower resolution to higher depend on your skills and software, i personally do not do this. for $999 computer- it performs
@@BenjieMoreno Okay and how long battery backup?
@@ladlashahzada8998 it says 6-8 hours, but you dnt want to edit on a battery only. the gpu will not be optimized with just the battery. it has to be plugged in- thats the mandatory requirement for any gaming laptop
Can this laptop support 4k on an external monitor?
yes. 4070 gpu is mid tier gpu
Supported dual ssd? 2 slots for ssd?
yes- i left the original 1tb ssd and added another 2tb ssd as my main storage unit
Is it 250 brightness or 300 brightness?
idk. my workflow relies on external monitor to optimize the videocard and ensure higher quality
?Is core i7 12700h better than core i7 13620h
very subjective question- it really depends on what apps/games/software you mostly use it for. both almost similar with some edge differences. i do not own 13620h but benchmarks shows very small difference
is rtx 4050 good for content creation
at some extent it should be able to get the job done- my old 1060 handled 1080p pretty well- around 15-20mins on 4k then hiccups starts. you need to consider the cpu and ram as well
@@BenjieMoreno cpu is i5 13450hx and ddr5 16gb with rtx 4050 140w is it good for 1080p video editing and 3d rendering
@@YahyasFantasy thats solid specs, but for content creation ill take my current set up. ddr4 vs ddr5 conversation (marginal difference) stability wise, ddr4 wins. coming from 1060 to 4070- editing 4k files 8 or 10 bit is a breeze for what i do.
if price difference is under $300 ill take 4070 (this laptop i reviewed anyday)
Thanks your opinion@@BenjieMoreno
How does it handle blender
i do not use blender- is that a game?
Its a 3D modelling software@@BenjieMoreno
@@jojo-ow3tc the only thing i would check is your softwares optimize cpu requirement- the least. but 32gb ram and 4070 gpu is sufficient imho
