this interview happened either on Nov 1st or Nov 2nd 1993, since the MBT date at Amherst had already happened (and the interviewer says "last week" when referring to the Amherst date, which was done on a Friday,) but the date at Miami had not. on this interview: Mariah talks about her quickly rising fame, the marriage, and the rehearsal date at Amherst. (there is no audio of the concert, by the way.) credit to jakej on The Internet Archive!
Well, Mariah said it’s not true. She said that can happen with record companies but she said it doesn’t apply to her. That’s how she answered the question ( a good question though)
@@schoolgirloutfitmariah9304 actually it is comparable. the only difference is that she did some more attempts in NYC on certain songs, and she didn't get tired at the end of the concert. Philadelphia was a REALLY GOOD CONCERT, ALMOST just as good as NYC
Very interesting. She mentions multiple times about not touring because her voice is delicate and she doesn't want to blow it out and that it's an instrument. I really wonder if after 3 years she finally gave in and that was the beginning of the end for her voice and the start of her vocal decline. With all her sickness on this tour she really must have regretted doing it and must have felt such a massive obligation to do it once the ball was rolling
The Daydream tour wasn’t what killed her voice (she still sounded top notch on that London date). Her voice declined during the recording and promotion of Butterfly
@@Solo-vh9fmDaydream era is when she starts singing unnaturally for her voice type. It’s definitely the era where her voice decline starts. She started changing her technique and singin incorrectly. Her chest coordination technique from 1986 - 1994 was the best for her voice. She’d only really run into certain breath control problems (mostly prolonged sustained notes) and singing high soprano notes, which isn’t her real voice range. When Mariah sang in her real voice key range and kept it chest coordinated, she was perfectly fine.
Her voice never blew out when she was recoding Butterfly it was a tired and dry Daydream. Also she was really tired during the Butterfly tour and she's never got to recover until 2004.
@@mariahwhitneycelinejanetmadona It actually does. Mariah wasn’t fully ready to tour nor did she really want to but Tommy was like “this is for promoting” and Mariah wanted to make a short tour

the interviewer hit the nail on the head when he said the record company markets her "like a product"

Cuz she was sick and tired.

I look beautiful both way
I actually really like the photo choice!
What do we know about the rehearsal show?
pretty sure it was just same thing as the MBT, just rehearsal to check sound and such - although i do have an anecdote from someone who was there
they threw a rose toward the stage and it torpedo'd mariah like on the cheek
@@MIXANDMTCH wow
