The chewing on the cigar is Apone's thing. In high school back in the 80s, our bus driver was an old retired state trooper we called Gummer (he had no teeth), who always had an unlit cigar in his mouth.
Newt has been on-screen for 2 minutes. "She's a great actress" Brother, as a non-actress, she nailed this movie - her first and only movie ever. She's a school teacher now.

Funnily enough, Burke’s actor is also in Stranger Things. Also, he took his mom to the theater when it came out and even his mom was like I’m glad your character died 😆
Fantastic reaction! I must have seen this movie 100 times, but I always get hype watching new viewers get hype! I've seen you both react to a lot of movies, but the way you guys were locked in as it kept ramping up and up was awesome. Name another that does it better - I'll wait.
If yall watch the special edition, u would definitely understand. Ripley went back bc she wanted to face her fear & make sure it wouldn't come to Earth. Period. Her PTSD was very serious. Her waking up from her bad dreams were night terror. I just found out my dad had it & he was a Vietnam vet. Sadly he passed away last year.
The thing with Gorman and undisciplined marines was that the mission was set up to "fail". A professional unit of marines with an experienced commanding officer would have a high probability of exterminating the "bugs", which would be of no value to the company. The company needed the mission to fail, so that there would be "survivors"... Burke had it all figured out, just like they said...
The double standard of “it’s too late! You can’t save them! By now they’re already being cocooned like the others” and “they don’t kill you!” Like for real? I’d have written newt off like Ripley did my team if I were Hicks.
This is definitely one of the best movies ever and Ripely is best / most BA female character of all time M you got a L on that impregnation check everyone lol (although tactically I agree with you 100)
There is a book that explains the missing 57 years. The officer was picked by Burke as he could easily be manipulated as he had limited experience. The director's cut gives you more background info into Ripley and why she bonded with Newt so much. The APC they use is in fact an airport towing vehicle for planes.
The queen wasn't going to let them go, she just played her hand a little to early so to speak. Ripley probably might have left without frying the eggs as she knew the aliens were doomed soon with the explosion. If you look at Ripley's face when the egg opened, it's a "really?, ok truce is over!".
PREDATOR and THE THING remain my favorite scary alien movies of all time, but... ALIENS doesn't fuck around either. It's number three. Plus, "GET AWAY FROM HER, YOU BITCH!" is still, to this day, one of the bestest lines ever delivered in film history.
11:12, the chuckle is not because Ripley is a woman. Apone and Hicks are Marines they don't interact with civilians often. Nor do they expect them to have any skills that would be useful to them. Also Ripley was a flight officer which means she wouldn't normally be running a cargo loader. So long story short their laughter is because they were presently surprised.
Ok, Mair and Sophie. The first ALIEN movie was designed as a tribute to the science-fiction films that Ridley Scott grew up admiring in the 195o's. That's when the pacing was slower to bring tension to the story. James Cameron wanted to bring a more modern dynamic of action to the franchise for the sequel. He had just directed THE TERMINATOR and felt he could level up the excitement with more action. The problem with today's audience is the lack of patience in their attention. Because video games, social media, the advantages of having special effects that did not exist yet, the story was the primary asset to movies. This speed of light thinking does a disservice to movies by overshadowing the audience with flashy images that aren't always supported by good writing. The last part of my argument is that people today are a little more tech savvy than previous generations. So, it is harder to challenge them in many ways. But there is always hope that some independent minded people will unite to change the status quo. You might try to watch James Cameron take you into THE ABYSS for your next movie. Or, watch Ridley Scott take you into the dark future of renegade androids in BLADE RUNNER. Keep going and enjoy the movies.
The aliens aren't actually much of a threat. First movie: Ash hobbles the crew's reaction. Second movie: colonist bodies located tactically to nullify the marine weapons.
The first movie is just called Alien, only one monster. The sequel is called Aliens, multiple monsters. Subtle but genius naming convention. They talk about at the beginning of the movie Ripley had a daughter but missed her entire life while being in hibernation. Ripley basically sees Newt as a second chance with her daughter. The Queen let Ripley and Newt leave to save her kids, the eggs, but Ripley destroyed them all. The Queen going after Newt at the end is her revenge. Even though she is basically a giant bug it still understands that Ripley is essentially the mother of Newt. Ripley vs the Queen is a mom vs mom battle to the death. Welcome to a well written, strong, female character. Also this means we only have a few more movies before we get to start the Predator franchise!
8:45 You seem to miss the fact that it wasn't the android (Ash), nor the AI (Mother) who gave the orders to bring the xenomorph back - and none of them was malfunctioning. It was HUMANS (the company), who wanted to study the alien and the "machines" just did their job.
Lt. Gorman = Lt. Dyke from Band of Brothers. Sorbel messed up in the training exercises... Dyke...out of fight, flight, freeze.... he froze like Gorman
Jenette Goldstein (Vasquez) is also in Terminator 2 (the mum of Edward Furlongs character) & Titanic (the mum trapped in steerage who tells her kids a bedtime story as the ship is sinking). I didnt even recognise her in either of those 2 movies 😂
H.R. Giger did the concept art for the world of Alien. His most visual piece of work is the fold out cover for Emerson Lake and Palmer's 1974 album, Brain Salad Surgery. If you look at the woman's dread locks you can see the inspiration for the Alien world. He also did concept art for the 80's version of Dune but they went in a different direction. If you look at that art, it would have been a LOT more dark looking film.
Your reactions are so fun to watch. I saw both Alien & Aliens in the theater when they first came out. No one had seen anything like Alien and the chest burster seen made some people throw up in the theater. It smelled awful. People were shook up and shaking, weak knees. It was awsome. Same with the Exorcist. Nothing like these movies before. Stra wars included . Kat in Colorado
In ALIENS, James Cameron used what the audience knows against them. The audience "knew" androids could not be trusted. Which creates a lot of tension in the audience in ALIENS, that Bishop could betray everyone at any moment. And the audience KNOWS how lethal an alien is. The audience is left holding their breathe, anticipating the soldiers finally seeing what the audience knows is coming. But even though the audience knows what an alien is, there is no context for what hundreds can do. Character building and story arcs are tight. Acting is top notch. I want movies being made today, to be this good too! If Hollywood could do this in the 80's and 90's with less technology, why can't movies of this quality be made today?!
"I don't know if you keep up with current events, but we got our ASSES KICKED!!" ... "Game over man, game OVER." ... "We're in some real deep shit now!" --- Classic lines from Bill Paxson.
Another great reaction to another all-time great flick. James Cameron knows how to spin 'em. Aside: Great comparison btw Lt. Gorman here with Lt. Sobel in Band of Brothers. [SPOILER]: But I'd say Gorman redeems himself at the end, unlike Sobel, by going back to try to save Vasquez and actually engaging in combat, no longer safely behind the wheel.
Mair yo man you are excellent to watch a movie with bruh......love you're reactions, you're commentating.......... and Sophie was very smart she was nailing it.......very good guys
😂😂 I was wondering when yall was going to be reacting to this one. Keep up the amazing work. Everyone please stay safe and blessed much love from San Antonio
I actually met Carrie Henn (NEWT) last year at a convention; days before Halloween. Wish I could share a picture. Got her autograph on my Aliens DVD I was amazed that Bishop remained useful after ripped in half, unlike a certain gold droid in Empire Strikes Back. The actor who played him didn’t know how to read until he was 30 years old! Also, I was ecstatic when the movie was mentioned in an Avengers film and the basis for a rescue plan! They even did a camera shot that was reminiscent of it. Wish you had watched the Special Edition of Aliens. Do NOT bother with the remaining sequels. HUGE disappointments. Normally don’t bother with audio commentaries but I enjoyed the one with the director and cast.
Alien was a haunted house (horror). Aliens was a roller coaster (action). I love both of them equally, and it was one of the very few times when a sequel did justice to the original. Terminator and Predator achieved that, as well.
Definitely the best one out of the franchise. I swear I have seen this movie so many times to the point I know most of its script lol I mean you gotta admit it had classic one-liners. Also, if you loved Titanic, you gotta react to some of James Cameron's other movies from the 90's like True Lies. Those were the days where he was at his best . Enjoyed your reactions as always
I’ve watched quite a few reactions to this film and lately more and more think that Ripley’s dream about being impregnated by a chestburster ALSO means everything else was fake. Especially the 57 years. Really glad dude caught it in the boardroom about having people there for decades.
Prometheus is utter dog shit. Nothing about it is good. The story is badly contrived. Acting is crap And the effects are average at best. The characters are also all unlikeable trolls it's insufferable to watch. The film claimed the aliens were made by a certain race, when it was the actual predators that created the Aliens for sport hunting. Also, the 2 scientists are super scared of everything non human and yet act all stupid like street hoodlums when exploring an alien environment. Then at the 1st sign of real danger when he should be wary (as he is a coward), he instead takes his mask of and shoves his face into an unknown aliens face just b4 it jumps him?? Ooh did not see that one coming. Which no one would ever do.... He is supposed to be intelligent and a coward, but here he is acting dumb and silly moments later. Completely out of character. Thats poor script writing. Then the female lead who was an absolute Mary Sue, gets her stomach ripped open and her guts almost fall out, yet staples her stomach back together and makes a 50 foot leap across a chasm qnd lands on her stomach that's just been staplled moments earlier and it dosent rip open and kill her?? Wow staples must be amazing. Then decides to follow them back to their home world knowing full well they want to and will kill her before she EVER learns any answers. No one would ever go. Yet she stupidly decides to go. Talk about pathetic. The original Alien and Aliens films never had such stupidness written into the script. Prometheus has been universally paned as the worst film in the entire franchise. On par with Aliens 3 or 4 for shitness It is absolute garbage of the highest order
Its pretty meh tbh as all alien sequels that came after the first two films. I did watch it, but its mostly cope at this point, they can easily stop here, and keep the best memories of the franchise for life. It only gets worse. Ignorance is bliss, its better not to know more of the story.
Thank you. There is no reason to watch Alien 3 as it pales in comparison to this. A complete let down. All those that recommend it just want to relive the universe.
Woo! Now, if you keep watching, just know the rest, disrespect the hell out of this happy ending. You just finished the the best 2 Alien films. That said, they're all fun to watch to some extent.
I believe he almost shares that honor with Lance Henriksen (Bishop), though Bishop isn’t technically alive and is revived in Alien 3 for a bit. Lance was one of the cops killed in the police station in T1, and he played Weyland in Alien vs Predator where he was dispatched by a Predator, so he has met his worst demises against all three at least, if not actual death in all instances.
Great reaction y’all. I agree better than the 1st one although the first one was great. Funny I was in Marine Corps boot camp Christmas Day 1986. This is the movie they showed us. I was scared. At this point I hadn’t seen the 1st one. 😳 😊👏👏
Darn I was hoping this was the directors cut. It WAS 57 years, because after that scene there was a scene where he talks about Ripley’s daughter and how she’s 66 years old and died two years ago.
"Aliens": Third Officer Ripley has been found and taken to Gateway station with a Xenomorph-size cas of PTSD. What will The Weyland-Yutani Suits make of her blowing up the "Nostromo"? When I saw this movie in 1986, I had a question about Ripley. That question was answered in 1990 with Special Edition Laserdisc(!). 7:10 Yep, actor Mark Rolston was there. 7:19 No comment on "Pvt. Vasquez" doing pull-ups? Yep, Sigourney Weaver is a 6 footer. 10:02 Ripley shows Apone and Hicks that she's not a front office paper shuffler like Burke, but a working class dog like themselves. 15:56 I noticed that Ripley was able to "get close, quickly" to Rebecca, unlike the female Colonial Marines. A review of the time said: "Sisterhood!" With the 1990 SE Laserdisc, I confirmed that Ripley had been a parent. 18:09 Vasquez had spare fire control modules so the squad still had fire support. Sigourney Weaver has said that "Aliens" was about guns; I thought it was all about Family. Note: Find the Assembly Cut of "Alien3" (1992), which is infinitely superior to the studio interference theatrical cut.

The company needed the mission to fail, so that there would be "survivors"... Burke had it all figured out, just like they said...
You two are adorable, the film hasn't even started yet and I'm subscribing!
The double standard of “it’s too late! You can’t save them! By now they’re already being cocooned like the others” and “they don’t kill you!” Like for real? I’d have written newt off like Ripley did my team if I were Hicks.
Jonesy is the oldest cat of all time
Jesus I've seen this and Shawshank Redemption so many times and I never realized until now that Drake is Bogs!
These two trying to start the robot civil war by treating sentient Robots as cannon fodder...lol😂.
This is definitely one of the best movies ever and Ripely is best / most BA female character of all time
M you got a L on that impregnation check everyone lol (although tactically I agree with you 100)
There is a book that explains the missing 57 years. The officer was picked by Burke as he could easily be manipulated as he had limited experience. The director's cut gives you more background info into Ripley and why she bonded with Newt so much. The APC they use is in fact an airport towing vehicle for planes.
Does the 57 yrs require an explanation? I thought she was just a tiny vessel floating in the expanse of deep space
It's said at the premier Paul Reiser's own mother cheered when the Alien got him. That's a real movie villain for you.
Plus, "GET AWAY FROM HER, YOU BITCH!" is still, to this day, one of the bestest lines ever delivered in film history.
hell yeah! Good taste! Thanks for a great reaction!
OMG 2nd favorite movie of all time.
They should make a movie about Hadley's Hope how it all happened. Would be like Rogue One of Star Wars. All up until the marines come.
There is a comic/graphic novel about that...

Look up Aliens River of Pain. There's a book and audio book that tells that part of the story
@@pandapropsncostumes i know... but I want a full motion picture like Romulus.
I’ve watched a couple of y’all’s reactions, this one made me subscribe.
10:50 that’s hilarious, never noticed that before
Ok, Mair and Sophie.
"The worst decision is no decision at all"
-military axiom
And she`s in Lethal Weapon 2....
They weren’t really laughing AT Ripley. They were laughing because they were impressed with her.
Soooo since yall doing Alien reactions are yall gonna do Predator reactions too and end it with Alien vs Predator???? 😂😂😂😂 cause these are golden
Best F'n movie right here. Ripley 4 LIFE!
Check out the movies Predator(1987), Predator 2(1990), and The Thing(1982).
Im in the military, I can confirm, we are absolute clowns as a way to cope with the stress. But when its game time, we are serious as shit.
Mair yo man you are excellent to watch a movie with bruh......love you're reactions, you're commentating.......... and Sophie was very smart she was nailing it.......very good guys
Hahahaha! Yeah! The military’s all about transparency, lol!
Like Hudson said "F#ckin A" thats the best Alien movie
Awesome reaction guys! It truly is a near perfect action-horror-thriller. And the rarest of all things - a sequel that rivals the original!
YES , this is my favorite in The series! I am Interested to see if this one scares Sophie !
😂😂 I was wondering when yall was going to be reacting to this one. Keep up the amazing work. Everyone please stay safe and blessed much love from San Antonio
They laughed at Ripley cause they were impressed by her skills...
Wow, I just watched this again last week. A real gem!
Wrong moment to pause :D
And yes they can breathe without space helmets. They terraformed the planet, meaning they make it breathable and stuff.
Great reactions!
I actually met Carrie Henn (NEWT) last year at a convention; days before Halloween. Wish I could share a picture. Got her autograph on my Aliens DVD
I was amazed that Bishop remained useful after ripped in half, unlike a certain gold droid in Empire Strikes Back.
Tell me you never smoked a blunt, black and mild, cigar or cigarette between your teeth...keep those lungs, lips and teeth pure folks.
Awesome Movie and Work Guys, Thanks!!! 😎👍👍👍👍 Greetings from Helsinki, Finland🇫🇮🇺🇸🇫🇮🇺🇸
Glad you guys got to this gem. Prometheus is a good one too. Explains a lot.👍🏻
Prometheus is utter dog shit.
Nothing about it is good.
The story is badly contrived.
Acting is crap
And the effects are average at best.
On par with Aliens 3 or 4 for shitness
It is absolute garbage of the highest order
Its pretty meh tbh as all alien sequels that came after the first two films. I did watch it, but its mostly cope at this point, they can easily stop here, and keep the best memories of the franchise for life. It only gets worse. Ignorance is bliss, its better not to know more of the story.
Yall remember the 1986, knife-hand challenge?
My two cents...I wish I had never seen Alien 3...it RUINED everything without adding anything significant to the story.
Thank you. There is no reason to watch Alien 3 as it pales in comparison to this. A complete let down. All those that recommend it just want to relive the universe.
@@tiredoffools8929 I do recommend Alien Romulus though. It is a bit silly "scientifically" but a fun watch nevertheless.
Woo! Now, if you keep watching, just know the rest, disrespect the hell out of this happy ending. You just finished the the best 2 Alien films.
That said, they're all fun to watch to some extent.
My all time fave movie ! Damn near perfect ....RiP Bill Paxton (Hudson ) The only guy to have been killed by a Terminator a Predator and a Xenomorph
Alien('s) is my favorite, outta' the franchise. Jus' sayin', "THE BEST", in my opinion.
Sophie is SO SMART!!
IQ of 120!!
Steps ahead!!
These guys are young and Ripley has been gone for 57 years so she would be extremely old to them and behind on new technology. Right young folks lol?
Excellent sequel 👍🔥fun fact.."newt" took her paycheck from Aliens and split...never acted again..got a good education and built a life for herself...
Great movie, fun reactions ❤
Darn I was hoping this was the directors cut. It WAS 57 years, because after that scene there was a scene where he talks about Ripley’s daughter and how she’s 66 years old and died two years ago.
This is one of those franchises when a sequel is better than original
Sophie is the Smoke Police.
Somebody take the controller away from him, who tf pauses it in crucial moments? Just start the movie and that go
