Hi Martyn, it wasn’t that long considering you had a number of days Advent and other works. It’s all coming along very nicely. Thanks for taking us around Cardiff City. You covered all my old haunts except I have no idea where the shopping mall is as we didn’t have one in my day (I left in 1984😱). I reckon the bird is of the “Soona” variety cause sooner or later we’ll all find out what it is 🤣😂🤭. Stay safe and well. Be kind to Mark, he’s a good sport. Thanks from Australia 🐨🦘😷
Parrot? 🦜 Macaw? Peacock? 🦚 …. Hopefully in 2 more weeks, we will see what hatches!!! 🐣😊 Thank you for sharing your weekend shopping walk-about. Very interesting stores. You are very patient with all those tiny stitches and tubes. I don’t think I could do those toenails! 🤣
You are simply fantastic. I'm so glad to have found you. I can't wait to see your the "bird". You and mark are such a cute couple. I love that you tell us about your day and that you tell us what you're eating. I just hate it when bloggers say we just had dinner or we just had breakfast and they don't give us a clue about what they're eating. Sending lots of Solstice love.
Really enjoyed the trip to Cardiff. The arcades are very similar to the couple that are left in Wigan town centre. I love them and they always look great at this time of the year. Sadly haven't been able to go shopping this year. I'm to nervous with all the people around. Thank you for wearing your masks. I just wish other people would be as considerate. It used to be passing the smokers on the enties/exits of places that I struggled with, but now it's every body. I'm loving seeing ' the bird's take shape. Well done on the bead work, it gorgeous. I need to do more of that. Take care and keep safe. xxJane
Oh you make me laugh stirring Mark up. The arcade shopping looks nice. It reminds me of the Royal Arcade in Melbourne. Your bird is coming together nicely and I cant wait to see the final reveal. Good luck with all the knitting of the baby items too
Oy! That's frustrating; the change in size. We're all excitedly waiting to see if the new needles resolve the problem The cardigans, booties and hat are adorable. The bird - she really does have our curiosity engaged! The arcades are gorgeous.
Wow seeing winter and Christmas is making me feel a little homesick. Lived in Adelaide SA for nearly 14 years and I still miss Christmas in the winter! Miss Wales too!
Loved seeing Cardiff, I lived there for 7 years in the late 80s to mid 90s, so pre-Cardiff Bay. We went back a few years ago what a change. Well done on the baby knits x
What a supet productive time youve had. Going to be a very impressive blingy bird. Your little nephew and niece are going to be lovely and cosie. Tiny bootees are so cute. Have a good week🌈🎄
Just watched you Martyn, great video as always! Made me laugh out loud when you mentioned the "bearding " needle!! As for mastering the beading, you deserve a polished halo!! Your baby blanket square different needles made me chuckle. I knitted some socks. Almost finished the second one but couldn't understand why it was so much bigger. Then realised I had used a 3.50 mini circular instead of 2.25!! You'd think I would have noticed!!! Look forward to seeing your baubleathon video, they look great! As you say, Happy Crafting!!
Thanks for letting us walk around with you, I love it. I don't crochet and you have me looking at those cute birds!! Help! Loved watching you crochet the gems. Happy Holidays!
Wonderful episode! Your tour was great and always nice to see your creations. Excited to see your bird. And now I'll work backward through your videos for advent! So entertaining! Best wishes!
Awwwww, loved the footage of Cardiff City Centre, ive wandered those beautiful arcades when we were there and I bought a beautiful Welsh Love spoon from the souvenir shop opposite the Castle !!! Loved Cardiff, loved Wales 🏴!!!! Merry Christmas, oh and ps, love your videos Martin !!! X
Oh that has been such a treat watching the Christmas market and hearing how you are progressing. Counting down to your next one. I am now knitting a Christmas cowl - having knit lots and lots of Christmas baubles. 🎄🎄🧶
Loved seeing Cardiff city center and the castle! I love shops like that! I have caught up on all of your videos, now I wait for your new ones to appear. I have blocked my shawlography and am loving it! So curious about the bird! Happy crafting!
Great video, I love Cardiff . You can’t beat bird and blend I do their monthly subscription and love it, I’ve also got their advent calendar this’s year. You and Mark together are so funny xx
Thanks for showing us the sights of Cardiff! Your Toft bird is coming right along although I’m with you and would have had problems with the beading. Love the music you’ve chosen for the beginning and throughout. Looking forward to your next Vlogmas!
We are here for anything you are willing to share...A few minutes per episode or even hours! As for the tree decorations...Maybe we can help you with a name for their exclusive video? How about Baublepalooza or Bobblepalooza???
I’ve recently found your videos, during the Stephen West MKAL. Your videos are lovely (as are you) and I enjoy joining you as you knit and travel around Cardiff. Your crafts are charming and so well-done. Thank you for creating these videos. ❤️
Love the vlogmas, thank’s for the walk, love to visite there.. maybe some day.. and then knit toghether with some coffee there..only.. what whil our husbands then do😃😃hug from belgium
Loved the footage of festive Cardiff, especially the arcades. The jade wool is a gorgeous colour, and doesnt it play well with the teal. That's going to be one exotic bird!
Loved the shopping and the sights. Of course it wasn't Mark's fault, such an innocent face! Your bird is going to be quite magnificent - the sparklies are worth the effort! I have finally reached the Shawlography brioche section and struggling a bit. We will see. Thank you for another brilliant episode xx
Wow martyn ur a star all that crafting 🤗I ve finished three granddaughter s Xmas jumpers still got front of hubby’s scooby dog jumper to do but working on choc orange covers for granddaughter s teachers need finished for Friday😫
I loved hearing you say 'the sooner I get to work, the sooner I get home'. I say that every day as I'm leaving for work. Perhaps the first 'tail' is a cockscomb?
More coffee required me thinks Martyn. Vlogtober in the thumbnail for this Vlogmas episode lol. Loving the Toft advent progress. I'm in awe of your bead work. What a bling bling bird "she" is going to be 😮 Can't wait for the next few days. Fab-u-lous 🐦
Thank you so much for the gorgeous views of walking around Cardiff! Also, all the crocheting that you did is impressive. PLEASE show us what you do when you get to the stuffing of the bird. I have no idea how you are going to stuff into those tiny little tubes and I have never made a plush toy so I'm curious. Great videos! : - )
Thanks again Martyn for a lovely blog full of great content . Can you mention the yarns you have used on the babies knits . You make me smile every time ❤️
Another great episode! You have inspired me to try my first Toft animal over the holidays, first crochet also! Since you're not doing a December round-up, maybe do a WIP round-up for the end of the year? I'm sure lots of us are curious about the mysterious 17 odd WIPs you have confessed to!
Hi. I love the grumpy Marc-in the-morning! Greetings to him. I'm a not-speak-to me-in-the -morning!! too.. Love your podcasts and I'm very curious what the bird is looking at the end.
Thank you for another great podcast! I loved the footage of the arcades So Christmas-y! Your nieces and nephew are very lucky to have such a loving uncle as you Martyn. I'm enjoying your Toff Advent as a non-crocheter. It looks really fun!
have you ever seen Zoe from Pins and Needles - she went to those arcades on her Vlogmas.. The other thing that might interest you - and bear with because I haven't watched all your back issues - is that she and a local yarn dyer have got together to make a totally Welsh sustainable wool - Cartref yarn if you fancy a look
You two are just what i need. I’ve had one of those days. 😣. Mum not well my big girl (dog) not well. And i have just sat down with a v large glass of red. And Mark “it’s not my fault” is making me chuckle. Thanku for that 😘 I’m trying to work out where you are in Cardiff as you go around. Last time i was there, Howell’s was still open 🙈. Definitely a gin (as long as it isn’t the parma violet one 🤢). On your bird…..i now don’t think it can be a turkey or a partridge 🤔. Because the bits wouldn’t be right. Ummm what bird is it??? Polish your halo 😇 my darling because i would’ve blocked the f… out of the blue squares to make them fit!!! 🤣🤣🤣 xx
Y'all are just too funny!!! Really enjoyed the shopping trip! The stores in your shopping plaza looked delightful! That's gonna be an awesome bird when finished.....whatever species it turns out to be. Lucky babies being born into your family! 😊
Martyn you have been a very busy crafter! I am just enthralled with this Toft CAL. The beads are beautiful! (And a new technique) The baby things are coming together very nicely…..I also have difficulty maintaining tension when doing things that need to be sewn together (excitement or exactly what I’m not sure….but it’s one of the reasons I look for patterns that attach as you go…I have less issues size wise doing it that way) Don’t give a thought to the length of these videos…I enjoy the longer visits! Can’t wait for the baubles!!
You: "I've changed needles" Me: "Noooo!" (thinking it was different sizes) so sorry for assuming that, you're not that bonkers hahaha Well I loved that little shopping and sightseeing tour with you two, especially as we are still in lockdown here til the 17th. So no public christmas decoration to watch. I hope it will be til the 17th and not longer and as today, there will be a tiny ice rink on our main square in town that opens when lockdown ends. Fingers crossed, last year they had to cancel it. Oh yeah, the beads, the thread and the swears, totally! First I couldn't figure out how to secure the thread, it kept going off when I tested. And I can't get the beads on the wool, the knot is tiny but the folded thread of wool is just thick. Every time I try, the cotton rips. Every time. So I called for help and let someone else do it. Otherwide I'd be way behind by now, still trying to get them on for the 38.532 time wasting 150 kilometres of cotton thread. Yep, in between I was like "the long bits as a tail as well? perhaps the 5-finger-part as a crown?" But the head is emerald, not red. Hm. It's a mystery and it's wonderful (apart from problem above)! I feel for Mark - to be "hangover-tired" is something completely different, it can also be used as "time-hangover-tired" for sure haha He really seems to get comfortable towards the camera? Slowly but steady, now he's visibly sitting in the back as well sometimes Speaking of visibly in the back, is that a humidifier you tried to do partnerlook with? 😂
Cardiff is so beautiful, I’d love sitting there knitting it’s inspiring. I’m loving theToft advent. Its much more doable than others especially during the holidays. I’ve gotta get it next year. What month do they go on sale so I can mark my calendar for next year please????
The Cardiff Castle was beautiful. I think this bird is a Macaw 🦜. Whatever it is she’ll be fabulous.

Lovely you took us shopping with you! The arcades look very nice!
You made me laugh with the beading struggle. Cheers for pushing through with that!
Just when Singapore, Mexico and the Canadian Rockies were my most "exotic" places I've been, you show Cardiff Castle....Bucket List!!!
My guess is it is a Peacock. Also, the footage of your shopping trip was so wonderful. I love the UK ! California does not feel Christmasy ever.
What a supet productive time youve had. Going to be a very impressive blingy bird. Your little nephew and niece are going to be lovely and cosie. Tiny bootees are so cute.
