Do you have a video testing the accuracy of those sensors? (pulse, ox, etc)

@@ziraga Not a video, mostly cause honestly, pure accuracy chart videos simply don't do well here. That said, tons of detail and accuracy charts in that post above.

@@Dcrainmaker Just got the venu 2 based on your review (I was initially going to buy the apple watch s6) , as my first garmin watch I am impressed by the level of health centric metrics, however I am facing 2 issues,
1- the SPO2 is way off than the medical grade finger meter by 8-10%
      Garmin 85%-92%
      Medical meter 98%-99%
2- it does not log my sleep, I do suffer from insomnia.
Should I wait for it to make a pattern for me or am I doing something wrong.
Any help regarding these two issues would be most appreciated

    • @Dcrainmaker

      @@sidfiz3459 Hello!
      1) For SPO2, are you measuring them both at the exact same time, and both while still (ideally with your hand on a table or such)? In my case, I saw them within 1% in almost all cases, when measured the same way at the same time.
      2) I can't speak to insomnia or how well the device handles, but I'd say that you might want to consider tweaking the sleep trigger times in the app to what you more closely might fall asleep (finally) to. Technically speaking these values are rarely used these days, but I think they do serve as a bit of a backstop to Garmin's algorithms when it's struggling detection.

    • @sidfiz3459
      @sidfiz3459 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Dcrainmaker
For SPO2 yes, tried both at the same time but significant variation currently its showing 92% while the finger sensor is at 99%, maybe arm hair might be affecting the accuracy?
The sleep trigger timings sound very plausible as the watch might not be used to my sleep pattern, will try that out and see if it resolves it
      Thanks 😊

This was the last review, I watched before buying Venu 2, and I can hands down say it sucks. If you are buying this for the "start exercise, track bunch of metrics, upload" features, yes those work and exist in my 2010 polar sports tracker as well. If you are buying this for some of the smarter "features" don't even bother. Did I miss the disclaimer from this reviewer that "this is a paid advertisement" video? Otherwise I cannot honestly tell how can someone talk about this watch for 10+ minutes and not mention totally bogus features.
Anything that is "automated" or "detected" is plain out wrong. To give some very simple examples, the watch would tell me "I've been sitting too long it's time to move" while I am cleaning a greasy kitchen sink and sweat is dripping from my nose. After my morning shower, poo when I grab my coffee and swipe the watch it says "you are sleeping, wake up now? yes/no?" You enter "go to bed" - "wake up" hours and it would not detect anything that's not in that range. I travelled two stops in tube and the watch starts vibrating telling me that I just broke my personal best for walking.
I'm not saying watches that track these are perfect but this costs almost £390 while a £50 fitbit would track these things effortlessly better. Don't waste your money. If you need an active sports tracker go for a proper one. If you just need something to count your steps, dailiy activity sleep etc, go get one. Venu 2 is an inbetweener good for nothing that costs a fortune.

Got any recommendations? Something with a smiliar design but better functionality and battery life?

    • @most-average-athelete
      @most-average-athelete 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@Richard-fi3rz if you mean the "automated" stuff by better functionality, I think they are all equally bad. Fitbit is a lot better than any of these but it is not a "smart watch" as this one or samsung or apple watch. There is a youtube channel called "The Quantified Scientist" where the dude tests how accurate these things measure.
If you mean "tap start record upload" they are all equally good. If you are buying this as an accessory as a watch, which also tracks things, I'd instead buy Huawei watch GT2 pro. 190£ and comes with a titanium body an sapphire glass almost like jewellery. On the other hand has to support for external HRMs (which is a must have for me)
So for now I am using my old polar tracker, for exercise and ignored "daily auto tracking" stuff, until someone makes a decent buy. May be huawei will add HRM support on Watch 3 but until then Venu 2, is 110% not worth the money. Don't listed to these "paid promotion review" channels.

    1. Is it normal that the distance measurement for cycling is more accurate than for running? The same route, but a different result: ideal for cycling: 10 km, for jogging 9.87 km.
    2. The current pace displayed during your run is not correct at all. I run at a pace of around 5:30 (what is correctly summed up after each kilometer), and during the Venu 2 run, it shows a time over 6 minutes (6:40 or even 7). What could be wrong?

is the sleep tracking feature and heart rate sensor new-er than the ones on Fenix 6 range? if so, do we expect the sleep feature to come to fenix 6 series? I also wish venu/vivoactive series came with touchless option. I prefer buttons. Fenix is a bit of an overkill for me as I’m not a runner or a triathlete, but it seems to be the only Garmin option that looks like an actual watch (non-plastic) if one wants physical buttons😣

Current Samsung Galaxy 3 watch user. I just recently bought the Garmin Scale and I have the Garmin 1030 plus for cycling. Most of my exercise is cycling 3-5 days a week, but adding in hikes and 30 minute workouts. I like the idea of having all data on Garmin Connect app. I am trying to decide a few things. What would I miss with leaving Galaxy watch? I actually don't use many of the features on the watch now beside seeing who is calling and glancing at a notification. I just starting using the strava app on it for hikes recently and spotify to headphones while hiking. I used the galaxy for a workout for the first time with this week. Not bad. Galaxy's strava app on the watch for recording it. Once or twice I month I find myself using the speaker on the watch for a call. So I don't think I would miss that feature. I like the idea of body battery, more accurate heart rate, more accurate GPS and the fact it is on the same platform as my cycling data. Part of my question would be, what would I be giving up leaving galaxy. The second part of my question would be Venu 2 or wait for fenix 7? I think I like touch screens. Great reviews as always Ray! I watch many of them! I am also on the waiting list for the skydio 2 thanks to your review!

Great watch for those that decide their own schedule and pace while recording a lot of heartrate and GPS+GLONASS data everywhere while having thin wrists, the battery does last past expectations and only drains when music is played over Bluetooth. GPS connection is fast the only connection issues I've had where after firmware updates which where easy to solve by syncing the device with the desktop app. For me this is the watch to wear 24/7 to never miss the opportunity to record sports events, there are better brands for sleep tracking while this watch has the better sport sensors which is more important to me.

Just bought this Venu 2 and I am very confused. I bought it so I can see my sleeping quality, track my body battery, stress levels, heart rate when training- it's all interesting. I don't do running etc, just gym workouts and pretty active actual work. Put watch first time today, went to the gym- watch started giving me notifications, that I am super stressed and told me to take a break. I thought it is confused because I didn't choose that I am working out, so I tried to switch on Strength training- but it gave me options to choose workout types etc. I don't want to sit in the gym half a time fiddling my watch+ I really don't need my watch to tell me what to do, so I cancelled it and I believe watch still left confused thinking I am stressed like fk. Came home, sat at pc and my watch telling me to move on :D
WTF is actually happening here? Does it mean that I am wasting time trying to track my stress levels, heart rate etc, just because watch is stupid and don't understand that 110bpm is not my normal heart beats? Will it show, that I am super stressed, low on energy, sick human because it think that my normal heart beats are 110bpm?
Or am I stupid and missing something here? How do you go about the gym without these premade workouts programs by watch?

I recently purchased a Venu 2. Yesterday and today, I climbed a flight of 5 stairs, but the watch shows only 2. My Fitbit Versa 2 shows it correctly as 5. Is this a known defect with the Venu 2 altimeter?

I know this video is old already but I'm considering this watch. I do have a question though which I haven't seen someone mention (so it might not be an issue). For the sleep tracking - on my old cheap $30 smartwach, I would always activate and 'press buttons' on the touch screen because I sleep with my hand under my pillow which puts force on the touch screen. Now I'm not sure if this is only because the watch was a cheapie so any pressure would activate the touch screen? Are these watches or even apple watches the same? I really don't feel like sleeping with the watch on if it's going to constantly wake up or vibrate from me pressing stuff on it during the night. Thanks to anyone who can answer!

I want to buy Venu2 or FR255. But I don't know which one will be the best for me. I don't run as much as i used to... For now I workout more. But I want to get back to running a little bit and in future Im think to take a sprint triahatlon. But I don't know when I will take this, I don't even know IF I will take triathlon. But if I will I think it will be nice to have this options that FR255 has. To be honest it will be nice to have for now, (when im not running that much) to have that option as running power etc, just to have it. Or am I wrong? Also the Venu2 is older (not to say "old") than FR255. Could someone help me to choose right?

A smart watch should make my life better not worse. The venu 2 is quite difficult and cumbersome to use. I was frustrated with the intricate but useless software. I just want to see HR and distance in big enough numbers that I do not need to put on glasses. And I should not need to push buttons or swipe screens to see my HR. I refurbed it for a refund and would not even accept one if given to me for free. I want a watch (no Apple or Fitbit junk) that shows HR and distance traveled, with accurate HR.
    Does it even exist?
Venu2 was a huge disappointment. It’s like they had a liberal arts non-runner in charge of the software.

Question. I'm looking for a device to keep in touch with recovery and to monitor sleep. I'm an avid cyclist (14 hours of training per week) and ideally i don't want to cycle with a watch on as I have my bike computer for this... Can I put my watch around my steering wheel or in my back pocket and use the data from my heartrate cheststrap, Powermeter etc? I don't mind putting the watch on right after cycling but don't want to ride all summer long with a watch on..
Can't find an answer anywhere so please help!

Vivoactive 4 if you want an always on display that's very readable in direct sunlight.

I use it for hiking and when I first got it i was sure there was a live on-screen map showing the route taken as I walked it but I can't seem to find the option. Is this something you can confirm? It's like the route map that sync's with your phone but live on the watch face

I have a venu. It's sleep tracking is awful. I work night shifts. I sleep after work and a short nap before going to work. However, garmin sleep shows only 1. Before this I had a fitbit which was able to measure these multiple sleep episodes within the day. If I try to edit the sleep log in garmin, there's only 1 sleep that I can have in the entire day. This is ridiculous.. I wanted to kno3if the new venu2 fixed this.

The Venu 2 has no speaker for alarm sounds and the vibration is very soft.
Although the watch face can be always on,
it severely drains the battery (like most of its other features). For the price it costs I’m disappointed in the Venu 2. In meetings I don’t want to interact with the watch to see the time either. Doozy for me.
