FUJIFILM RECIPES - Episode 1: KODACHROME

  • Hi, Everybody!
    Today I am sharing one of my favorite Fujifilm film recipes with you: Kodachrome. Please know that I am NOT a film photographer. I am not claiming to have achieved a completely authentic film look.
    I do appreciate film & use it occasionally, but just know that if you want a true film look, shoot with real film. Fujifilm is about the closest thing to shooting film with digital cameras, and that is a lot of the reason why I love it. I've said before, I don't like my images to feel overly digital, so I enjoy adding film-like qualities to my images.
    I hope you enjoy this video! Subscribe to see the rest of the series & say hello if you are new here!

    My personal favourite since many years: ProNeg Hi with - 1/3 or -2/3 EV. I tried Classic Chrome plenty of times but the sky is too teal for my taste. I love the subdued colors of ProNeg and I prefer the higher contrast, hence the "Hi" version of ProNeg. Once I move aways from my trusty old X-T1 I will give the newer recipies a try. Oh, and cheeers from Germany. ;-)

      Hi, Andreas! Thank you so much for watching and for subscribing, all the way from Germany! I totally understand how you might find the blues in CC too teal- I really love it but sometimes it can be a bit much. I also enjoy ProNeg Hi. I appreciate the comment - cheers! :)

      Just sold my R6 and my whole kit with it for the XE-4 and the 33mm 1.4. So far I love it. The R6 was amazing but I never wanted to carry it unless it was a necessity. The XE-4 has put the fun back in it for me. Small, light and an amazing sensor for the package. This camera will go places my bigger kit never would have.

    Love your channel! Great work!! This video in particular really speaks to me, as I’m trying to find a film simulation that suits my style but I haven’t tried tweaking them like this. I recently traded in my Canon 5dIII & 50 1.2 that I shot with for many years for an X-pro 3 & 16mm and 56mm lenses. I was so upset thinking I made a horrible decision, and planned on returning it all the next day. I found your channel and decided to give it more time, and I’m so glad I did. Your channel is a breath of fresh air, and I look forward to each one. Keep it up! And thanks!!

      @@TheZachMendez Wow. The Kodachrome images were awesome but the quality of the video was the highlight for me. So good! Now just create a Fuji recipe that looks like the graded C70 will ya? Lol. For real though....

      Hey there! Thanks for watching & for the suggestion! I will definitely do some testing. The Fuji X Weekly blog has various recipes for different sensors including the bayer sensor cameras. Hope this helps!

    Do you always keep your cameras with no lens attached or just for the video?

    • @TheZachMendez
      @TheZachMendez  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do usually keep them on my shelf with the lenses detached, yes. It saves a bit on space. Thanks for watching!

    My XT4 is slow with and without the clarity so it's just a heavy receipe to process

      Thank you for watching! Yes - Actually I did get this one from Fuji X Weekly & I mention that in the video and link to the post in the description. I started with the Kodachrome 64 recipe from the blog and tweaked it a little bit. I will keep exploring some of the other recipes there. Thanks again! :)

    Yeah, it's so nice! I almost prefer the nost. Neg. recipe, but it's very close. I always shoot just raw without clarity and then tweak via in camera processing. Think it'll help me to better understand the settings for different conditions. Cheers!
