Arguably the worst kept leak McFarlane ever kept under "cape", Christopher Reeve's iconic Man of Steel has been the talk of the community and one of the most sought-after grails. Does it soar to those aforementoned heights??

You ever thought Christopher Reeves has big hands cuz he probably don't have little girl hands like you do your spider nerd I really can't stand your content I hope you go away for good

*Christopher Reeve
Wtf is your deal bro if you don’t like the content then don’t watch fuck is the point of your comment fr 😭
Christopher Reeve is the perfect role as both Clark Kent and Superman especially how he fits the Superman suit while being Clark as a clumsy yet smart reporter, I don't have him in hand but I will try because I will keep watching the fiilms.
Great review. Very detailed. This is my definitive Superman! I’m a 90’s kid and I think Mcfarlane nailed it in my opinion! This is a solid figure. Comes with flight stand, lots of hands, wired cape, especially those head sculpts and for $30. Thank god they are done with the card holders.
I found the platinum at Walmart this morning, totally shocked me. They haven’t put anything new out since before Christmas, and didn’t have the regular release. Awesome review
Trunks, not diaper.
can't please em all .. definitely a top figure of 2024 .
Mid tier at best .
Yeah I love the figure too.
I really love this figure and immediately pre-ordered it when I got the chance. The only thing that i find unfortunate is that we get an angry alternative headsculpt instead of a smiling one. When I think of CR's Superman, I always imagine him with his smile and I think they should've gone in that direction and kept the angry one for the chase figure...
Thank you for your honest review. This is the 1st video ive seen from your channel so i subscribed for more content. Its because of this version of superman, that i jumped off my dresser at 3 years old thinking i could fly in my superman pj's. I havent picked him up yet, but i plan on it soon.
Keep in mind that its a sculpture, if you do it too realistic, he will look weird. The hands and muscles are to give him a powerful look. Otherwise if you stand him next to another superman figures, he would look dumb. Its a nice choice for me to make him look strong enough to kick my Goku action figure... or Buzz Lightyear.
6:29 I know it looks screenprinted, but it is not, photos of the suit online. It proves it not to be the case. But what Mcfarlane did is still odd lol.
Correct, it’s stitched together and is flush with the rest of the costume. What McFarlane should’ve done is just sculpt indents onto the chest piece and it would’ve been perfect
It's better than the Mezco, but NECA'S Head portrait is better. However, this is more durable and has a wired cape, and that makes the difference. NECA, sadly, used brittle plastic back in the day. I bought 3. One already broke. This is a good in-between the 2 Superman near this scale. Yup Christopher Reeve was very lanky back in the day. He bulked-up after being trained by David Prowse the body builder under Darth Vader's costume .I got mine from Best Buy.
Cannot wait to get mine going to make a fabric suit. I think I look better hide all the joints.
Thanks a lot for nitpicking it. I felt I was the only one not 100% satisfyied with the figure honestly
I was playing around with mine while listening to your excellent review and I found something fishy about mine: the bottom joint of his double jointed left knee is frozen. Won't bend. I tried as hard as I dared to, but it wouldn't budge. Maybe if I heated him up it'll come loose.
I found mine at a Gamestop last week and just today, the Walmart near me that absolutely has nothing new in the collector's area, boom! both regular and platinum versions. I already have mine so I left both versions on the pegs for someone else to grab😅
Nice review.. but I suggest you watch videos of how the “S” on Christopher reeve costume was made… not printing at all.. it is stitched from another piece of cloth in a very complex way to avoid warping of the S.. neca replicated it flawlessly
dude puts it in stupid positions and then goes "it looks dumb in stupid positions" well yes sir. that is true.
no one is posing him like that though
Hands aren’t the size of punching gloves. 0/10 😅
It still looks fantastic and I want one.
Yes, "punching gloves" are definitely what they're called.

Fits the figure
As a fan of Christopher Reeve's Superman (AKA the ultimate Superman), I was excited by the announcement of this particular action figure. However, the more I watch reviews the more I can see the flaws that come with it. The likeness a bit off, the chest not broad enough, the weird wrists color and shape, the fat hands, and the limited articulation of the neck and torso. All in all, I feel less excited by it. Although I do wish to own a nearly perfect rendition of the character from The Movie 1978, I'm considering making my own custom eventually.
That is the same flight base the Golden eagle armor Wonder Woman, I was frustrated with it there because she has a soft rubber armor over her waist that you have to warp and damage if you leave her pinched into the base. I know with Superman they are there on the film suit, but given the wrist joints, I think emphasizing the sweatband ends of the sleeves so much was a very odd choice. The wrist ball should at least be skin tone.
I collect dolls and action figures, I am fine with soft goods, but I do not like mixed media. It drives me nuts when an action figure with painted on clothes has a scrap of fabric on it. As a collector since the 80s, those flexible plastic capes were a huge upgrade in the 90s. I smoke. Dolls go in cases. Action figures with fabric stay at the retailer's warehouse. I know I am in the minority here, but figures with fabric immediately read as cheap to me, like they chintzed out on a scuplted cape.
As a stickler for Wonder Woman emblem errors, I appreciate your level of detail, nice video, I would never have caught the subtle emblem error you presented! Great eye! For me, overall this has that marionette-like awkwardness of early Marvel Legends due to the joints, I am finding that's how Todd's articulated figures are. My favorite McFarlane figure is still og Angela, the limited articulation serves the aesthetic, that company just doesn't have mechanics down.
He also does not seem to understand that men are not widest at the hip. His 7" male DC figures all have enormous hips. Almost no man is shaped so that his hips are bigger than his abdomen. I weigh 140 pounds. My roomate is over 200. Both of us have hips smaller than our tummies. This is the case no matter how big, small or muscular a guy is. Who is shaped like these McFarlane men with their giant hip bones? My chest barrel is bigger than my hips, anyone else, guys? The McFarlane JL looks like it was sponsored by Tena. I've gotten some of his Batman '66 males, but none of the 7". I hope he loses the license.
They could have done better ngl, orangeish red instead of more fashion red and Baby sky blue instead of hawaiian blue, splotchy emblem on both and back. If they did some of fixes and better sculpt it might have really been a winner figure
I was excited for it initially and pre-ordered as soon as it came up. But as time went on and I kept seeing more shots of the head sculpt, I changed my mind and cancelled. The likeness just isn't close enough for me to see it as Christopher Reeve Superman as opposed to some random dude in a Superman cosplay... Didn't really have much of an issue with the rest of it, but that face scultp was a deal breaker. I'm hoping someone gives that more accurate version to us someday.
Seems to be a pretty strong release to me even tho you pretty much bombed on this one seem kinda petty a lil bit IMO
McFarlane could of done a better job with the head sculpt considering you have third party custom doing a very good job at head sculpting plus this figures should’ve been pinless
Damn I can’t wait to have Him! But damn he still got that blue wrists Superman syndrome 😓. Still I Want It More that Any Other! Bro is the reason I even Like Superman 🤓.
I have both Superman and the evil Superman I got good Superman fro entertainment earth that I pre ordered in October I just got it and I know the manger at game stop and she got the evil Superman in and saved it for e and called me to come get him so that how I got mine but am looking to get double that way I can put them up that way I have extra one
Reeve was a fantastic Superman but he was not and is not the definitive Superman. The character has over 8 decades of history and to say that ONE iteration is the only version is disrespectful to all other writers, artists and directors. Alleged “superman fans” cannot understand how toxic they are in holding this belief.
Regarding the figure, for me it looks fantastic and really captured the likeness of Reeve.
I don’t see it as disrespectful to all others to say Reeve was the best Superman. Rather, that Reeve’s legacy is playing the character so well that it is seen the definitive performance and influenced all other incarnations in some shape or form moving forward. Kirk Allen probably held the spot previously, but one has to admire the hard work Reeve put in. He worked for 6 months straight to put on 30 pounds of muscle to play the role. In today’s age, a simple hormone shot and top of the dollar fitness trainer is the norm to reach that level. Remember, Jerry Siegel himself praised Reeve for his performance.
@ but it is NOT the definitive performance what do you not understand? There are other aspects of the character that other writers, artists and directors touch on that Reece’s iteration does not so he literally cannot be definitive in anything. If it’s YOUR favourite interpretation then sure but you do not and cannot speak for everyone.
@@Carlisle-mn3fv I mean maybe if you got into it more I’d get where you’re coming from. Again though, I say that the co-creator of Superman himself, Jerry Siegel, praised Reeve during his lifetime. You don’t get a higher honor playing Superman than that and literally is impossible for anyone else to get that blessing. I’m not sure what you’re talking about.

Why do you have multiple comments on his videos just hating 😂😂
