I guess there's always something new to learn when camping of any kind, and some decisions will always work out better than others, but I can understand your preference for wild camping when possible. The scenery on Arran is stunning, and it was also such a pleasure to see Jazz running along over that little bridge with such joie de vivre. She's loving her new life.
Hi Miss Merrily. Hope you are doing well. It really helped us to work a few things out by staying where we did. Arran is so beautiful and we really enjoyed this trip. Lookout for a surprise guest appearance on this weeks vlog 😉. Have a good week. 😊👍
You should make a cook book for camping using your low watt appliances. It would help people and put extra coin in the bank for travels. Combine with pictures of your travels for each meal. A win for everyone.
Hi Travis. That is a very good idea! Not sure I have enough recipes for a full-on book but maybe some recipe sheets. We do try to be very frugal with power and stick to renewables whenever we can. Have a great week 👍😉
Hi both a lovely video as ever and I wouldn’t say it was a mistake to stay on that site you had a lot to contend with after the attack and jazz’s arrival it’s helped you decide what you prefer to do! Looks like you had a great time and love arran as well very much I don’t blame you if you have a diesel heater installed as it must have been in the back of your minds about the LPG I am amazed nobody sells it there Look forward to next video hope you are all well Daniel
Hi Gill. I think it’s a great location/spot. It’s an Aire ++. I can personally tell you the showers are immaculate. They even supply shampoo and conditioner. 🙏🐶🐶🐶🧙♂️🚐
Only just watching your Arran videos. There is that campsite at Glen Rosa for a fiver a night I think it was. It's like wild camping with safety there. I know you're back now though. That aire isn't our type of place either, but I suppose to save gas etc, then it's OK for one night and the toilet block looked good from the outside. That parking looked great at Lamlash. Going to have to find it cos we only parked in a layby on the road for a couple of hours when we went there. Cool, the w3w just came up lol. I've saved it.xx
That campsite sounds much more our sort of place. Not quite sure whether it would be open in winter. Would need to check. But such good value! It’s a small Parkup but certainly beautiful. Very peaceful with nice walks. Going to the Aire was probably a good thing as it made us realise what we didn’t want. Up until that point we were still undecided about how to move forward. We would go back there, but mainly just for showers etc. something very special about parking in nature!
It was an enjoyable watch and I definitely now want to go to Arran🙂. Have you considered the Aeropress for coffee, we have one and it makes a good beverage. Looking forward to your next instalment x
Yes somebody else said in these comments about Aeropress. I had a look at them online. They do look very good. How are they for cleaning afterwards? I want something to be easy to wash up 😂. Glad you enjoyed it. 🐶🐶🐶👍🧙♂️🚐🙏
I can't understand why you worry about LPG running out , I only need to fill my tank every 65 days. I am spending two months wild camping on Arran at present and won't go into any campsites. And I don't have lithium batteries either. It's easy to set a van up to be totally off grid.
Hi Dave, yeah like you we wouldn’t worry about it right now. Back in February with -3c it was obviously a different scenario. Our underslung tank only seems to hold about enough gas for 5 days full heating. We have easily done 10 days off grid in winter on Skye but there we have access to LPG. What heating are you using at the moment? 🐶🐶🐶👍🧙♂️🚐🙏
@@Wizardinthewild I understand now, I run a diesel heater which I can also run on kerosene, it's ultra efficient and economical it's the best thing in my van apart from the solar.😁🏴
The site looked much better in the day when you went and explored. Any idea how much they charge for swimming etc? Do you find you only get 4 nights in the winter with gas? It seems to last much longer in the summer doesn’t it. Goat fell is on my to do list at some point 😊 We like Lamlash, we stayed there while waiting for the camper in a hotel (Lamlash Bay) which was nice. Have a great rest of the week, David & Rachel 👍
I think the swimming was about £5 each. If the temperatures are around zero we get about 5 possibly 6 nights. I don’t think it’s very efficient. We have a go at Goatfell in a future episode. It’s a lovely island. Thanks for commenting guys. 🐶🐶🐶👍🧙♂️🚐🙏
Hi James. Thanks for the feedback. Most of the vlog was a lot of us talking so we wanted to balance it with a great bit of driving music. Personally I liked the volume levels but I do when I drive my car. Sorry if it seemed to loud for you. Will bear that in mind. 👍🙏🐶🐶🐶🧙♂️🚐
I guess you live and learn and from this you have been able to process more following your incident what you truly like …. We have a diesel heater off the main tank and so if I can’t drive anywhere I can’t hear the van so makes life simple for sure
Thank you guys. I think you will be able to understand the feeling having had a similar type of thing happen. Funny you should mention Diesel heater. I am getting a quote today for having one installed! Thank you 🐶🐶🐶👍🧙♂️🚐🙏
Hi Graham & Ellie. I suppose winter camping has to have some compromise, How much was the aire per night? Was it me or was Grahams hat 👁🗨 on the move🤷♂🤷♂Cheers K.
Blessed Belated Birthday Graham! Hi Wizards, nice to see the Mrs cooking! I always like to see her cook simple non-fuss meals. Just out of curiosity, was it because of space constraint that Merlin wasn’t fixed with a microwave. I thought is would be easier for Mrs to prepare meals? Ha ha 😊
Hi Sophia. Thanks for your kind comments. Some vans like ours do have a microwave fitted above the sink, and yes, that would be very useful! But our model didn’t. The extra cupboards we have instead are very useful though 😉. Have a good week 😊👍 🧙♀️
Can't understand why you booked 5 nights in an Aire but then kept on about you prefer going to wild spots. Also same as one of the other comments your LPG will last a month easily even having showers etc Arran is beautiful so get out and go wild guys.
Hi David. The reason we booked it are two fold. Firstly we lost our confidence to wild camp when we’re were attacked in November. Secondly we have the new rescue dog and we didn’t know how that was going to go. We have sort of built up to this moment and unless you follow us closely you may not have known the circumstances. Our LPG tank will last us no more than 4-5 days when temperatures are that low and we need the heating on. So our thoughts on LPG reflected a number of issues. I don’t think our Whale heating system is very efficient and we are looking at a diesel heater now. If you haven’t seen other video’s in the series you may not have known that this was February this year. Thanks for your comment we do appreciate it 🐶🐶🐶🙏🧙♂️🚐
Pam, thank you. Just had a look at those. They do look very good. Do they take much cleaning? It’s important to us that it’s simple and easy to wash afterwards. Appreciate the comment. Going to read more reviews. 🐶🐶🐶🙏🧙♂️🚐
I (Graham) love a good steak. I mostly eat Vegan and Ellie always does. But, if get past the label these taste damn good and that’s what matters to me. If we can enjoy food and help the planet why not win win. Of course many people can’t get past the “vegan” label.

I guess somewhere handy to recharge the batteries and use the power to save on the gas. 👍
