I kind of agree…but as a chap who lives full time in a vw T6.1 I find the insulated black out panels way more efficient. Plus when you do the ol morning condensation wipe, you can more efficiently wipe all the corners etc. the only pest being that in winter you have loose panels to store during the day and driving. I just put them behind the drivers seat so no biggy. I do agree that manufactures get cheeky about what is considered an extra and what’s needed👍
@ yes I have had Transporters and the larger vans. I prefer the ease of use of the blinds and find that the larger vans being better insulated tend to mitigate a lot of the cold bridging. We always put a curtain across the cab to help keep it warmer and prevent the condensation.
Great review guys, this van is really nice and as you say not bad value at all, I would defo have after market alloys on mine 😀 just wish you tube would moderate their adverts, 5 secs is fine and I watch them, but a 12 sec followed by a 19 sec before post starts playing again really is not fair on you guys or us watching, come on you tube sort it out ! But no reflection on you guys and really enjoyed this review! Just said to Mrs we are not going to Lowdams ( it’s not far from us) else I would end up with another mortgage 😂😂
I just love this 😊 and I believe it will hold it's value being a VW 😮more than other van conversions. I configured this and spent £76 k but it had everything I need
Great video 👍 Very nice with some lovely touches. Split fly screen is a really good idea especially if you pop on one of those 1/2, door bump stops. Lithium ready forward thinking. Not sure about the carpets everywhere especially the shower roof. Would I still choose the Westfalia Sven Hedin 🤔 Absolutely 💯 %
Hi Will and Sarah. Been so excited about this van for a few months now having seen videos from the caravan salon, Düsseldorf.. Saw your review at the NEC and went to see the demo model with Barry from Lowdhams three weeks ago and he mentioned that you will be doing a video, so it’s great to hear what you think. That said, we love this van so much we fully specced it up on the day with Barry and ordered one with delivery in May 2025. Couldn’t hold back on the options so went for lots of upgrades, final price £83,900. It is a lot but it is a great van with a top spec and will keep us happy for many years to come. Thanks for a great review. ,
Really informative guys… We have a T6.1 from camperking & love it but will be looking at something of this size in the future (love your new van btw… the Sven ticks so many boxes but its good to see what you can get for this type of money)
Lacks (needs!) a pop top roof like we have on our 2024 Hymer Free S600 Campus. Some things are simular, others different compared to our van. Nice trim, fancy control panel, nice lights in the Eriba, however find our Free S600 a little more pratical at some points. Always hoped of a Crafter based van (but not the Grand California!), after 7,5 years with a T6 California, although very satisfied and happy with our choice for the Mercedes Sprinter, a joy to drive. Best of luck with with your channel Will and Sarah, thanks to share your thorough reviews!
Looks like a nice van, though not a fan of open shelving, and that fabric in the bathroom along with a shower curtain means it will take forever to dry. BTW our Malibu has stickers on the screws, many peeling off! Supposed to be premium brand!
Campersales have a 600 for £80700, specced with an auto box, LED lights, extended assistance package, winter pack and camping pack. However, that's still on the 140bhp engine, no alloys, blown air heating, single leisure battery, no solar prep... It's not hard to see how you could push the price up. To be fair though, there will be people on a budget where the option to start with a relatively basic van will be attractive, and only spec the things that they really want. The Sven Henin Classic might make an interesting comparison as it also goes with that philosophy. (Good review though, thorough and objective 👍)
Brilliantly detailed review guys! I too saw this very van at the NEC and it was the main reason for going. The door fly screen was broken then too! I really like it but I had a few issues; I don’t like the open shelving; the fridge drawer is annoying; some of the finish I thought wasn’t up to scratch (I prodded the ceiling and it really flexed); I’m not sure of the longevity of the blue cabinetry…a few knocks and scrapes and I think it would look scruffy. I’m still tempted but I will wait until spring when the RHD models with the facelifted dash is available to view. Thanks again for the great video 👍
We mentioned the fly screen to Lowdhams and they fixed it there and then actually - a bit of silicone spray in the rails top and bottom and it was sorted. We're a bit sceptical about the fridge too as it looks nice but there are so many compartments where do you put big things?
Great in depth review Will and Sarah, love your channel.Any chance you will be reviewing the VW California Concept anytime soon? I am really interested in that and what your thoughts are on it.
We looked for a VW Crafter nearly two years ago and couldn’t find anything that appealed to us, so we went for the one with the Star. I think in the meantime there are a lot more nice campers on a VW around! I do like the Eriba with all the wood and other materials on the walls, but I don‘t like the storage place above the kitchen or in the back of the van by the back door. And why is there no blind/flyscreen on the side window in the bathroom? That seems to be typical for the „cheaper“ vans from Hymer/Eriba. You pay a lot of money but it’s still not enough to have a blind/flyscreen fitted on that window! Our Hymer van hasn‘t got one either and I fail to understand that. We enjoy your vlogs, especially when you show the different campsites. 😊
Saw this in Germany, but I'm dubious about it being anywhere near £70k when it hits UK forecourts........My guess?, minimum £85-90k. It's a lovely build and very tempting but it's the final price that's the issue. Great review though guys, as usual.
The on the road price for it is 71k and you can order it in that spec. To make it nicer it could do with another 3-4k on it but if you stay away from the bigger HP engine and autobox they are the bits that add the most money.
@@CampervanTime Well hopefully that is the case when we start to see stock in the showrooms, considering that the base price for a new Crafter (retail) is £52-£55k it doesn't leave much profit in it post conversion for Eriba or the UK dealer. I know it sounds cynical but experience has taught me to be a bit suspicious.
My understanding is that they are built to order to customer spec, and that there are really limited numbers of slots, so Lowdhams have 10 slots for 2025 only, so you just order what spec you want and that's how it comes. The only way you'll see them in dealers showrooms is if they pre-spec them at the dealer for stock I think. At least you can actually order a custom spec!
Great review of a very nice van. Fab they do a rear lounge model too. Both models will embarrass many other manufacturers at those levels. As a testimony to your reviews, we sit her shouting for eg "yeah but can you......" just seconds before you tell us 😂. Campersales has a 602 coming in July. Nicely specced but rather over specced with those alloys and £1k's worth of built in navigation 😢.
Thank you! It does seem like they will be limited in numbers as when we spoke to Lowdhams about them they had 10 build slots for 2025 and you could spec them how you wanted, so not sure how many will ever be a true demo model in showrooms. Campersales will have to work hard not to sell their July 602 straight away!!
Can you let us have examples so we can go and see them? But to compare must be brand new and based on either MAN TGE or VW Crafter to be a fair comparison
This van was at the NEC so had thousands of people through it pulling and pushing at everything so I was quite surprised just to little damage it had to be honest!
Every van you review is almost identical to what you have ? We have seen lots of these two birth layouts and the are ok for you as yous don’t have kids ? Review the occasional 4 berths it’s getting boring
Have you seen the Trekker review, the Bailey reviews we did recently? They are 4 berths as they have pop tops. It's very rare to get panel van conversions with 4 berths and no pop top. 3 berth yes, but 4 is rare.
I am fed up of converters thinking blinds at front cabin are an optional extra. It is a camper for sleeping in. It should be standard. 🤯
Exactly that
I kind of agree…but as a chap who lives full time in a vw T6.1 I find the insulated black out panels way more efficient. I personally don’t rate the inside blinds…light leaks and condensation..better off with an exterior blind
@ yes I have had Transporters and the larger vans. I prefer the ease of use of the blinds and find that the larger vans being better insulated tend to mitigate a lot of the cold bridging. We always put a curtain across the cab to help keep it warmer and prevent the condensation.
Looks very very well build and taught. Nice.
I really like this van. I find it hilarious that some of the converters are asking double this for a “hand crafted” bespoke van on the same chassis!
Yes even when really well specced up it's still comfortably between £70k and £80k - much more competitive than plenty of others out there!
Great video 👍

Great van-one of the best. With a VW badge will hold its price.

Excellent videos and review I thought you looked a little familiar Will turns out we work for the same organisation such a small world.
Well a big hello to you! Make sure you say hi if you see me around in person :)

Have you had a look at the Dethleffs Globetrail Performance, based on the VW Crafter as well? Very nicely built and a huge bathroom!
Not yet - it's on the list!!
Has Sarah worked out that you can just freeze quartered lemons or limes? They last the whole trip and they won't dilute her gin!
Nice!!
Lots of good features.
Not sure about the flock trim, could be difficult to clean

You can get into the bathroom with a plastic step in place in a Grand Cali 680.
Yes good point - it's the 600 we were referring to as that's the one that we tried for a week.
Il est exceptionnel de qualité et design, excepté pour le rideau de douche qui est rédibitoire en 2024!
Is it just me but do others not prefer to have a small oven rather than an extra drawer or two in the kitchen?
Do they sell LHD in the UK? That would be ideal! So hard to find
I honestly don't know. This was one of their early production models so was LHD
Better vans out there for the price.
Can you let us have examples so we can go and see them? But to compare must be brand new and based on either MAN TGE or VW Crafter to be a fair comparison
If you don't substantiate your comment, why make it?

Since when did £70grand become basic 😮
I know, prices are all high for new vans now.
Thanks, great review. Just wondering if the VW California concept is on your list to review soon??
@Twyfie1 yes if we can get to see one!
🚗🙂🇸🇪👋👋
70k pffff lots of money
Fridge stupid idea..
Nothing special or different.
Shows the poor quality of the shower attachment.
