I think they did an excellent job on the exterior and interior of this restaurant. Even the restrooms were cute inside. The sauce was outstanding! I think if David had gotten the ribs he may have enjoyed his meal more. But he loves brisket and wanted to try that there. Hope you have a wonderful week!
Those ribs being prepared near the end of the video did look amazing. I am ordering the ribs if we ever end up here. Sounds like this place is a bit of a let down compared to its reputation as 4th best BBQ joint int the nation by Food Network. I always wonder how it is possible to rank such a thing anyway. No one could possibly try all the BBQ in the country to know an accurate ranking. Thanks for sharing this pretty good Richmond barbecue place!
The ribs did look delicious! Even though it was a let down I wouldn't take it off of our list to return. David would like to try the ribs and I think I'd stick with just the sandwich. The sauce was very good! I wouldn't make a special trip to go there like we did this time, but if in the area I would give it another chance.
BBQ review was very good and honest . BBQ joint is not top notch without outstanding sides ... that's half the experience IMHO .I love Little Pigs BBQ Asheville , NC because of great sides and bbq and killer fried chicken ... keep up travels and be safe .

I agree with the slaw. It taste better when it's chopped up better. I don't like places that don't put an effort into the sides. To me it's just as important part of the main course .
I agree with that. I guess the mind set of certain restaurants is that customers are not paying that much for sides such as Cole slaw , so we won't put an effort into preparing. That is a hard question to answer. So here is David's: Favorite Pork BBQ Sandwich- Exit 87 BBQ in Jackson, TN Ribs- The Bar-B-Q Shop- Memphis, TN Brisket- Rudee's BBQ- We had it in Texas but there are many locations I would say for me my favorite is a local barbecue joint called County Smoak in Lynchburg, Virginia. They have a great bbq sandwich and the best smoked mac & cheese that I've ever eaten. There are several NC bbq places that we really like too. We are planning on doing more NC bbq reviews this year. the hubby and i tried a new place yesterday called pit bbq. they were out of ribs, chicken, ice for the machine and what we got wasnt very good. i will stick with mission bbq (for my area that is) as most dont stand up to the quality and tenderness of the other ones, which others are dry, too salty and way over priced.
Mission BBQ does have good bbq. We went to a pizza place to eat yesterday and do a review. It was so bad we didn't even do a review. That is the first time that happened to us.

When i first moved to RVA i always hit up the orginal location but over the years B&N i feel like they have slipped a bit. They havent innovated on anything new and they still think they are the best bbq in town which they are not. Portions are small especially for the price you pay. The new bbq place in RVA to go to is ZZQ but they are pricey and you have to go right when they open or they will sell out.
We definitely need to try ZZQ. We have heard from others too that it is the best in the Richmond area. Hopefully their "pricey" will be worth it. There is a local bbq place that I go to sometimes that is also pricey but I can count on it always being good and the portion sizes are bigger than here. Thanks for watching!
B&N is terrible. Prices are high, portions are small, quality is poor. But everyone who won't admit they can't see the Emperor's new clothes will enjoy the fake pretentious atmosphere.

@@vafunseekers In Richmond, you'll get better Que on any given day at Mission BBQ. However, I've heard Missions in other places are not as good? I did run into a really good place in Williamsburg called Roscos. There is a simple test you can apply to any Que place to see if they know their stuff. Ask them if their beef brisket is moist or lean. If they know the answer, and Mission does, that means they are serious Que. If they don't, and B&N does not, they are posers. Good luck with your channel. BTW, Mission is having their once a year must order wings next week. Last year's were amazing. Might be a good video?
Someone brought me a BBQ, Coleslaw from there yesterday. I wasn't impressed with the Coleslaw or the BBQ. The BBQ was supposed to be Pork but it seemed more like Beef BBQ. Definitely not that high of a rating in the US. I doubt I will go back.

The meal and sides looked average to me, I don’t think it’s a definite 4th place in the country. I thought the portion sizes were rather small especially the coleslaw. I don’t believe I would be interested enough to try this place knowing that there are other places to go. I don’t think any of the sides were house made so that’s another factor why I would not patronize this restaurant.
The sides a restaurant has is as important as the main entree in my opinion. The slaw and the sauce were made in house. It amazes me how some restaurants have higher prices and the portion sizes are noticeably smaller. Appreciate you watching and commenting.

Some of the driest looking barbecue I've seen. And nobody chops pork, pulled only. If you want something legit go to zzq in Richmond and you'll Get some of the juiciest authentic real deal you can probably get outside of Texas. Everything glistens, smoked perfectly and is full of heavenly flavor. You know it's likely legit when they don't sauce it And you wouldn't think of adding sauce. Plus they start selling out of items with in 2 hours of opening with a line to the street well before the doors are unlocked. Sauce for the pulled pork is amazing that and does nothing but compliment. Other than that, wouldn't consider saucing anything

Those prices are insane, you can get a smoked brisket sandwich from Arby's for $7 bucks.
