The T models were removed from in fleet service. 3310 went to Test Sqdrn. I flew 3310 many hours as Marine KC-130T Flight Engineer when it was assigned to VMGR-234 in Ft Worth TX. It was a good bird.
Jolly big fellas picked us up in Africa from an about to be really bad situation. Usually was not easily impressed but those three beasts did that in spades ..
I saw a congregation meeting and the secretary of defense was being questioned why we only have 29% of the F-35 fleet in operational condition. He said a bunch but didn't say anything.
OK! Leave it to the Marines to refuel a Helicopter with a C130 while it is carrying an F35. Could anything more ludicrously more complicated be imagined?
Would hope that they had the airspace cleared when the flew past the pier! there could have been a drone or two in the air at that time from recreational/hobby flyers.
Would have been far more impressive if it could have flown a whole plane. However, I can see why the wings would have to be removed, however, keeping the engine in the plane would make this type of load far more impressive.
The CH-53K can lift 35,000 pounds, and the maximum gross takeoff weight of the F-35 is exactly double that. This was just something needing to be ferried to an experimental squadron for modifications, so it had to weigh less than 35,000 pounds.

See? They *CAN* all fly. Even the 35% of them that can't fly under their own power can be toted under a real reliable design from better people in a different era. They should have dropped that stupid thing on purpose just to make a point.
The KC-130 refueling platform has special long hoses and end baskets just for helicopters. The ones they unreel for jet fighters are quite a bit shorter with smaller baskets. They’ve been doing this for decades, so they have it all figured out. That was one of my jobs when I was on active duty.
I disagree. This type of activity is excellent training. It simulates a possible real world mission of recovering a downed aircraft to prevent the technology from falling into the wrong hands. You want to practice these activities and learn from them before you have to do them during actual battlefield conditions. This is why all armed services train in different environments and various weather conditions. You don’t want to have to figure it all out for the first time during a crisis.
Only 29% of the F-35 fleet is in operational condition. Secretary of Defense was being questioned by congress about it this week. Seems they are broke down alot.
Weird how U.S. allies around the globe are clamoring to buy the F-35. Maybe you could make big bucks being a consultant and informing all those militaries how they are so wrong.
Here is the God's word 1Corinthians 1: 21: "For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe." The God saves people by preaching. He has nothing to do with bloody war. The problem is Devil runs the world. He is lier and murderer. This is the reason why liers and murderers feel good while righteous persons are persecuted. (see Christ, Hilter, and others). That's why we've got the Gospel about the God's kingdom. Jehovah would put everything in order. The dead will be resurected and we'll meet our beloved ones again! :-)
King Stallion… couldn’t have a more appropriate name! That machine is truly an athletic beast.
My sis flew 53’s - you’re not wrong
Well now that’s something that you don’t see everyday, what an amazing set of flying by the pilots on both aircraft.
Which "both" of the three?
That was that F35C first vertical flight.😁
Bet they tricked a newbie deck jocky into riding the F35 "to keep it pointed straight".
The F35 truly is revolutionary…
I
Unbelievable our armed forces are amazing who would think of this??
that ch53 is one bada$$ chopper
Super cool! TY! Stéph.
The Marine's are just badass pure and simple.

Amazing piloting
These are the new more gooder king stallion under test.
310 is a good herc. I used to fly that.

America! F#@K YEAH!
Cool👌👍
I’ve seen this on the latest James Bond. The villain slides down the cables and steals the jet.
Good view of rotor blades set by the cyclic for forward flight

Technically this one is flying too😂
Nice tow Truck ! Look at the Flex on the Spinner under Load !
Stripped down hulk. They are playing silly buggers but heck, it's fun to mess about sometimes.
Tails and Sonic look weird in this video
And this is why LM bought Sikorsky.
To haul their over-complicated junk around when it breaks.

OK, looks real. Can you post an Official DoD release/vid/link or actual date?
Was that an AI voice?
Taker flying a near stall speeds. Little room for errors or unexpected events...
Would hope that they had the airspace cleared when the flew past the pier! there could have been a drone or two in the air at that time from recreational/hobby flyers.
the rotor wash alone would of blew a drone away.

What is airspeed of total package while actively refueling????
I sure would like to know it the refueling squadron was VMGR-252, my old squadron based out of Cherry Point MCAS, North Carolina.
What's VMGR if u don't mind?

I have a feeling 310 is with VX-20 these days. Navy flight test out of Pax River.
What would the weight be of that F-35 frame? without the engine and wings etc?
Must be below 15 tons, otherwise the chopper would not be able to lift it.

That chopper has the most accidents that have claimed the lives of many service man.
@WardCarroll
That unused freely dangling fuelling line seemed quite disturbing. Could have jumped into the blades...
Yes. It's happened before...

That is a VERY VERY expensive TEST
Expensive tests make us the best😏
How is it necessary? Cool but wasteful

Yep, good training
YOU DO KNOW, THE F-35 CAN FLY ON ITS OWN......EVEN TAKE OFF LIKE A HELICOPTER.....I DON'T KNOW WHAT THIS BROKE BACK MOUNTAIN FLIGHT IS ALL ABOUT?
