The 2021 Acura TLX A-Spec is an All-New Luxury Sedan With Killer Looks

  • The Acura TLX is all-new for 2021 and I found this A-Spec model to be compelling in a lot of ways. It uses really sharp design inside and out, offers good value, and should be pretty reliable. While I didn't love the powertrain or infotainment systems (two big things, I'll admit), I'd give the compact-midsize tweener TLX strong consideration if I were shopping for a small luxury sedan.

It's pretty annoying when people say "Yeah, there's some Honda going on here..." Um, that's a great thing everyone - not a demerit.

My point here isn't that Honda = bad; I would've assumed that was obvious, but I guess not. My point is that if Honda is expecting you to pay a premium for an Acura product, then in theory you shouldn't be able to find mainstream Honda bits throughout that vehicle's interior. Toyota/Lexus, Honda/Acura, and ESPECIALLY Nissan/Infiniti do this - they use their economy car parts in areas where people are less likely to notice them as a way to save costs. This is smart and to-be-expected from a business standpoint, but my job as a journalist is to point out these areas to make sure people have a clear picture of what they're getting in a vehicle that requires them to pay a hefty premium over a run-of-the-mill Civic or Accord.

It's a little smaller than the Accord. For the record - the two vehicles actually don't ride on the same platform - that's a common misconception. Google trunk volume and second row legroom for more specific answers.
