I loved this game on the C64 and then got it again on the 7800. It was the first really good sports game ( at least basketball ) and who knew where EA would go from there. Some tips, Dr. J is definitely quicker and seems to jump higher which is great on fade away shot. Bird is better from the 3, if you give either one a little room they'll knock down shots all day, remember to release shots at top of the jump and the closer the ball is to their hand especially on the up dribble the more accurate they are. As f as r as stealing the ball swipe at it when the ball is closest to the ground there's less chance of getting a foul called the step back is a good shot for either when your on the baseline.
This was one of my favorites back in the day, I would play very long games, and yeah they do play differently. They had different stamina, and there were some areas on the floor where I could consistently hit 3-pointers with LB, but not JI.
Nice review Phil! I recently acquired a loose copy of this one myself. Will be including a recommendation, and a link to your video on my channel's review video Wednesday.
I met dr j. Julius Erving when I was in 8th grade our class went to Washington D.C. on a school trip as at the airport we ran into him, really nice guy signed a few autographs and took some pictures as well
I noticed in a lot of these 7800 videos, all your boxes are still shrink wrapped. Do you keep a set of shrink wrapped games in your collection or did you film just before opening them?
+James Barrett Some (not all) 7800 games I have both sealed and loose, so I play the loose copy and use the sealed copy to review the art. I also have some opened games that still have most of the shrink wrap on and I have some titles that are just loose.

Love this game, I played it on the Tandy Color Computer when I was a kid and this version is just as good. A very fun sports game on the 7800
This may be the best sports title on the 7800.
Jim Goebel well that's too bad LOL

Larry Bird does not "also feature" in anything... The guy is the main event!
I had a game boy bball game that had a very similar mode to this game.
Cool review!
