So strange it seems to watch an 80s review but with a modern car

Just a few years ago we needed 400hp and a 4 cylinder to get those #'s and mpg!

Is there any reviews on the first generation Boxster?

$74,000 starting. We know with classic Porsche options will set the price through the roof. Give me a Corvette Z06.

Porsche should have told us that the GTS was a swan song to the flat 6 imo.

GTS is the same car as the S version with an ECU tweak from a few more hp and a bunch of standard options which you can order on an S except alcantara. Used, the S version is a better value but people will be dumb enough to pay a lot more for the GTS, so for resale the GTS will get a higher price

Why is the tester holding the wheel at 10:30 and 1:30? That's just plain weird.

BubbaSmurft Because the older generation was taught 10 and 2 and to be as far away from the airbag as possible. This makes them drive straight armed and to shuffle rather than push-n-pull. Yeah, would be nice if people actually modernized their driving. This Porsche on track looks the same as a Roadmaster on an on-ramp.

Point being is that it WASN'T 10-2 (as is STILL taught to the unwashed masses) and that drivers in these positions (driver being filmed on course/performance driving) SHOULD be setting an example with proper seating position (slight bend to the arms, ability to put r.foot flat on floor, behind brake pedal) and proper 9-3 wheel position.

Soon as they leave the dealerships showroom floor it loses a quarter of is value.. thats why it would be a hard decision to pull one off the lot..

Andy Hooky This is not a Toyota Yaris... I recently checked GTS prices (in Germany) and after 6-9 months with several thousand Km, no car had lost more than ~10%. And now where they will stop making the NA engines soon, there will always be people who will want one and pay good money for it. No way you find me one that loses 25%. Especially the GTS trim is always low production volume and sought after; this is the best you can buy in terms of preserving your investment.

Maybe your right but I was just telling you what some of my collegues were telling me..

It has now been 8 years. Used GTS models start at $60,000. Good luck finding any at that price. I think it is a VERY good investment when new.

So this car probably runs 0-60 in 3.8 and the 1/4 in 12.2, considering MotorWeek has the WORST recorded times out of any other car channel.

*So how do you make a PDK 7 speed with Launch Control faster?*

Their numbers are in line with every review I've seen. As far as the time, they specifically mentioned that they used Launch Control for every run. Maybe the difference is MW isn't at the mercy of pleasing every manufacturer and reports what the clock actually reads.

***** "But it sure would be nice [if all cars were mid engined]"
...Do you guys remember the Toyota Previa? That thing was mid-engined... yeah, no.

ThatCatRudy Was it? I remember when I used to be on hols in Austria, there was a taxi service running them up and down an alpine road all the way to the top of the mountain and back non-stop... :)

Test drivers ears are larger than the side air scoops. Got to be slowing the car down.
