    I watched all of your videos as well as plenty videos on YT pertaining to the Alpha One. Your precise explanation, camera position, and calm tone make your videos exceptional. I watched part 1-6 this past week every night after work. Made some notes and referred to Service Manual 14. Even though I have a Gen 2, your videos made it sooooo ez peasy and I got it done! The manual leaves a bit out but your vids cover everything! The only difference for me was the GL hose and the assembly of Ujoint bellow to the bell with retaining ring (no clamp). Used the right install tools & I'm happy to say the boat has been water tested and is working perfectly! THANK YOU & KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
    P.S. My 4 yr old daughter has been constantly reminding me "Dad, DO NOT CROSS THREAD IT" 😂🤣

      Good morning ☕️
      This feedback means the absolute world to us, thank you. We put a lot into our filming and any and all helpful feedback is greatly appreciated as it continues to help us stay on track and create the content that the DIY community deserves.
      It’s great to hear you completed the project as well as water tested newly installed parts. We also know the amount of money you saved by making this project DIY.
      However our favorite part of hearing about your DIY project was that your daughter kept reminding you of the importance of not cross-threading the bolts. 😁👍
      She gets an A+ for that and having her working beside you through it must have been enjoyable.
      We really appreciate you sharing your experience with us this morning. Reach out any time!

    • @DIYwithMichaelBorders
      @DIYwithMichaelBorders  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for watching, we recommend following your service manual to-the-T which will guide you on that process however in our case, our specific serial number service manual guided us to install all bellows to the bell housing first, except for the exhaust bellow…which our manual guided us to install inside the transom first as shown in our videos.

    these videos are a home run!! Working on a 2018 Bravo 3 where it seems my bellow's are still it good shape but the seal towards the coupler went allowing some water in, Can I just redo the seal with gasket glue or is it best to just replace new ones. Also can you offer where to locate serial number so I can purchase proper service manual.

      Awesome, that will come in handy moving forward. The bell housing can be removed without removing shift cable however it will require shift cable bellow clamps to be loosened to allow shift cable bellow to shift away from transom as you pull bell housing out.

    Hello Michael, great video and very informative. I have the same drive and would like to rebuild it. Unfortunately I don't have any service manuals and the serial number is illegible. I think it should be between manual 4 and 6. Do you happen to have one of the two as a PDF or know where you can download it?

    Your videos have been great up to this one where you skipped getting the shift bellow on. One shot it was hanging loose and the next it was on and you were doing the clamp. If you’re implying that it just slips on, I’m calling BS on that one 😉. I got my u-joint bellow on and tightened but then couldn’t get the shift bellow on to save my life. It feels like there isn’t enough clearance with the exhaust bellow to get it on. I had to take the whole thing back off and I’m going to try again tomorrow. Seems like I need to slide more cable through, attach the shift below, and then feed the cable back through the bellow when I go to put the u-joint bellow back on.

      @@DIYwithMichaelBorders it still wasn’t easy, but the gimbal ring is back on. Not fun, but the exhaust bellow was in the way so I had to push it out of the way and do the shift bellow first. I put the adhesive on the u-joint bellow and then worked on feeding the shift cable through the bellow while it set.

The drawing says it goes in after the u joint bellows goes on. It’s the same diameter as the unjoint bellows mouth.

      Thanks for sharing this, we believe you’re referring to the outdrive seal that is placed inside Bell Housing cavity and mates with the upper unit u-joint assembly retainer nut.
      We cover this in our (How to install outdrive onto boat/transom) video which has already been filmed, edited, and is in the Que for upload.
      As far as the upload date, it may be a few weeks before that video makes it to the front. There are several videos in front of it at the moment.
