To me, Singapore is not directly connected nor benefitting directly from the bri. Unsure till now why we are in this since no high speed trains linking our island to China. Beside the rmb exchange opportunity which still needs to compete with hk, london & black markets in the region, the rest of the opportunities for Singapore are more arbitrary in nature. E.g. the "Green" opportunity comes in only much later when criticisms emerged around 2016 or 2018(?). This obviously happened by chance rather than foresights. Perhaps Singapore Government can present the total cost it has invested and the direct revenue it has reaped so far in the past 10 years since the bri inception. The other ventures can happen as long as those few entrepreneurs mentioned can afford to take risk, venture / participate even without connect to the bri. Thus most of the reasons presented in this video seem a little forceful for me that bri appears very beneficial for Singapore. It is in the same light as trying to justify the humongous losses Singapore had suffered at Suzhou decades ago which many might have subtlely forgotten.
Your comment makes me nauseated! Keep the communist or dictatorship off of western hemisphere. Communist does not work, it has been proven since 1918.........
Singapore needs more land. BRI can help increase land reclamation for even larger port and airport expansions. For one thing, Singapore needs a lot of sand to do that, so why not get the sand from China as part of BRI investments. Pretty sure any real estate created in Singapore will be prime real estate.
Maybe the desert sand can serve this purpose? Though China is developing her arid land for farming. Maybe the African countries as well the nations in Caucasus could learn a lesson from this; including Russia which also has plenty of arid land.
@@PahatRout Unforunately, the sand needed is a specific type that is actually rare in the context of millions of tons for land reclamation. Singapore is using another method now to reclaim land that uses less sand, so we shall see how it goes.
@@wangxian5767 I don't think so. The typical way for land reclamation uses a specific type of sand. Probably has something to do with its physical properties and desert sand is not the right kind. That's why they have been dredging the sand from riverbeds probably because it is the right kind of sand. But I think Singapore is now using another method for land reclamation that requires less sand to do so.

BRI is just like a service brand, if you need and trust it then go buy and enjoy the service. There’s nothing more need to speculate.

Real question, can desert sand be used for land reclamation??
@@wangxian5767 I don't think so. The typical way for land reclamation uses a specific type of sand. Probably has something to do with its physical properties and desert sand is not the right kind. That's why they have been dredging the sand from riverbeds probably because it is the right kind of sand.
But I think Singapore is now using another method for land reclamation that requires less sand to do so.

Singapore has done a great gambling by betting on US by sending their future Prime Minister to visit US yet sent a very junior Minister to attend the Belt n Road gathering in China.
The BRI is truly the road to the future for mankind so l think we should understand it’s significance and support it. But sadly an insecure US is hell bent on undermining it. BRI shows up the glaring difference between the Chinese practical and magnanimous attitude and the ruthless self importance of the US. The BRI build roads and bridges to peace and prosperity, while the US build military bases to war and destruction.
It looks like Singapore has created a niche market for her industries to expand to! In spite of her small population, she has certainly moved way ahead of other ASEAN members in this sector. Would Singapore venture to Africa or South America in line with China's BRI objectives?
Will Singapore really want to work with China on Belt & Road or would it actually prefer to be in the good books of America as its obedient vassal state?

- Chinese annual interest is at 3.3%, *5 times* higher than Japanese loans.
- Among all loans, Chinese loans must be *paid first.*
- Chinese loans are not money. They are *construction debt.*
- The loans must have *collateral, such as mines, seaports, etc.
- Most BRI projects China developed are useless but may be useful for *the Chinese military.*
- Chinese workers, mostly *men unable to marry* in China, are transported to Sri Lanka for BRI projects.
- China took the Hambantota seaport for *99 years* as Sri Lanka's unable to pay.
- unable to pay, Sri Lanka asked lenders for renegotiation. All responded, *except China.*
- When Sri Lanka tried to import necessities, China *blocked* it because of unpaid debts.
ArabicReja the Indian bot strikes!
speaking of the devil
@Arabic...Really?Who holds the most percentage of debt of these developing countries owe? Give you a clue. it's not China. Good read up before making an ignorant comment.
臭傻B,倒出复制粘贴。印度人真恶心

Yep, BRI-johor due to no space for china-mongoloids to build station. Fully-developed until re-developing therefore never will have developed-nation status the bwah.hahahaha. tell china BRI - over-there, over-there (johor)
Drain
Unlike their promise. Without big bail out from our own State Budget, Speedtrain Whoosh Jakarta-Bandung would never been finished. This has been and will be the burden to Indonesia in the future.
几十亿美元都拿不出来?
Infrastructure is never a burden. It's a silly and narrow-minded Western mindset that demands everything be instantly profitable. The railway for operate for many decades and pay itself many times over with the productivity it will create.
No risk no reward.
U assume the rail wont generate economic growth but reality is that it has. With the rail, now most companies are able to hire more qualified people living further out from the city center. And townships will flourish around every station along the line
@TheDGirsang. Seems you bought into the burden propaganda put forward by pro western analyst & media that wants to paint an image that the HSR investment is a mistake.
Infrastructure projects like HSR, subway, airport, seaport, roads, bridges, tunnels, dam, powerstations, etc are huge investments that will NOT be profitable immediately.
I suggest you look back when Indonesia built it's first tol road. Try digging up news, analysis by "economy expert" of that time. Bet you'll find "financial burden" reports. Fast forward to today. Look at how the first tol road has improved economy along it's path. Bet you the once empty tol road that people complain about the cost of the tol and how it will burden the people is now jam pack like non-tol road.
Can you imagine HSR network linking every major cities of Indonesia? And subway in all major cities!
This is a propaganda video
But of Course BRI is not perfect , there is always risk in doing business.
😁 Maybe this video can be view as advertisement for the project, that's what all business doing.
Compare to Western media accuse others "debt trap" which they are doing themselves.
CNA does so many anti-China hit pieces, it has to do some China propaganda to maintain some semblance of impartiality. China is an economic giant that is still growing, people outside the western world are not completely dumb or into self harming. Just count the number of countries in the BRI forum.
