SO I definitely ruined it at the end with those other liners...but like whatever, the tips are still great 😂 Oh also, remember how I said I totally failed at the first tutorial with About Face? Well, my boyfriend was like, you should upload that next time...so.....next time I film something and fail horribly, would you wanna see that? 😹
I’d love to see the perceived failures too. Maybe you could do a post-commentary on why you don’t think it worked and what you could have done better/differently? Or a post edit showing us the correction?
I was SHOCKED to the core when I first saw my reversed image. I seriously had a sinking feeling in my gut for hours after. I’ve always known that my face is very asymmetrical but now I KNOW for sure lol. But, it is what it is 🤷
Check out something called True Mirror (I think, just Google "reverse mirror" and it'll come up). It's a mirror that shows what OTHER PEOPLE see when they look at you, instead of the reverse image you're used to seeing. It will look extra crazy at first, because the unevenness will look almost doubled from what you're used to seeing - but it's not, it's just your perception. This is what everyone else sees all the time, and I'll wager we see ourselves much more critically than others do. My mom has jokingly called me her little Picasso face for years. I guess I shouldn't have said it in the first place because it's stuck but it is what it is. I will never get used to it, I will never like it, and I must warn you it may get worse as you get older. Especially if you have TMJ it will affect your bite. So it gets worse, and you'll never really like it, but you stop giving as much of a shit as you get older. Maybe that's because by then wrinkles are starting to come in and you have those to be concerned about instead, ha!
omg, yes, yes, yes!! I have an uneven lip shape and never know how to line them, so I just don't, but thank you in advance for this video, you always have the best tips.
If someone gets offended by you giving us tips on how we can improve our own skill and confidence then they have bigger problems to worry about than your videos.
This happened to me today. Had to take a reverse photo for an ID check and it looked like my mouth was melting off on one side. It looked like it was trying to escape. Came here in shock to try and correct the problem and now am calm because NOBODY'S PERFECT. 10/10 for your video, it's very helpful.
This is great. My lower lip's outer corners are slightly downturned and honestly it's hard to see the border between my lip and my regular skin, so hopefully this video helps a bit with that
I had an accident when I was a kid and have a scar running vertically through one side of my top lip from the stitches. I used to just over line that side, but I just used your video and slightly over lined one side and slightly underlined the other and it looked much more balanced. Thank you!!
I also had an accident as a kid, but my scar is on the lower lip, and as my bottom lip has always been kind of plump™️, it makes quite a bump on the side where the scar is... I’m learning to accept it though
I also had an accident in which I was bitten by a dog when I was 4. He grabbed my lip and cheek. It’s healed over the years but left a slight deep ovular scar on my cheek and a couple vertical lines above my top lip and one below my bottom. This has caused my lips to look lopsided and thin. It sucks.
Anyone who complains about you doing videos like this can kick rocks... For real! You are the only one doing this kind of thing especially in this super easy (no bullshit long intro or other filler crap) kind of way. Please do not listen to any of them and keep doing these!! The more the better. Every little thing you give these kind of details on is so freaking helpful! Like you are changing lives. I mean it! It may be in a small way, but it has such a huge impact to help those of us really know how to do the things that bring our makeup game to the next level. I mean there is nothing more frustrating than spending all the time to put makeup on, and than not being happy with the result but not really knowing how to fix it. You are helping us so much, and those of us that are sensible enough to realize your true intentions are so extremely grateful!
I find that I’ve subconsciously done this without ever thinking “I’m going to correct my imperfections”. It’s instinctive to do it....this video, like your others is great. I really enjoy your content!
Your tutorials are sooo good, I love everything from the black background and the pace you go at. I'm still struggling to learn to do nice makeup but every little tip helps.
I love these! I really appreciate learning from you, and how to work with dark circles & naturally creased eyes/undereyes. This asymmetry series is really similar! You always have great reminders about how what works for one does not work for all, and how important it is to be real about your real face and love it as is. Thank you!!

Thanks for this video. You're right about makeup emphasizing the asymmetries and features of our face. I tend to forget how big my lips are until I wear a bold red lip. And I forget that my past cold sores have changed my lip lines. I hadn't realized that slightly overlining the asymmetry will balance the overall look. But at the end of the day, I stop fighting the urge for "perfection". It's futile.
Thank you! I personally am dumb and would not have thought too much about making changes on both sides. I think it’s easy to say, “Well, my Cupid’s bow is higher & pointier on this side” and then just try to make the other side higher and pointier to match instead of ALSO making the pointier side rounder. 🙃
I have a cleft lip, so yes I always try to make my lips looking more equel, and you always see it a little but I don't really care. But one tip I want to give. Use mat lipsticks, it really works. I use bright red and all sorts of colors but always mat. As soon as it has a gloss or shimmer it doesnt look nice and you emphasise the whatever is going on there.
Don't worry about the people who are hung up on semantics and trying to make you feel bad for using the word "correcting." The beauty industry is only as toxic as you allow it to be in YOUR life. Artistry is entirely personal and the beauty in art is that you're free to master your own craft in any way you please! There are no rules. Besides maybe have fun...and stop if you're not 🙂🌼
