    Hi,
    I really like your design. Thank you for creating this video. I was able to build one and this is my first project. I sent you the pictures. The only issue I had was with gopuram. It was very painful to get it close to what you have. I read through all the comments and some of them faced exactly the same set of issues I did. Cutting the crown molding with 7 1/4 miter was not easy and in your video it was kept an angle which I was unable to do with my 7 1/4 miter saw. After lot of research, I set the bevel angle at 33.9 and miter angle at 31.6 but the issue with that was the angle was super steep and it came out flat at the top and it did not have enough depth at the top to hold finials with out edges popping out.

    Excellent work! We made a similar one following your vedio and turned out great. I am at the stage of painting the whole thing. I see the stores carry 2 varieties of polyurethane coat. There’s spray like the one you used and there’s a can and we need to use brush to apply the coat. Does it matter which one we use? Is the spray easier to apply than the one with brush. Is the shine going to be the same?

    • @diy-doityourway3779

    Hello.. I am so impressed with your work. You work like a professional. I watched your video repeatedly as I want to make two level gopuram. It would be really helpful if you can help me with the measurements of for the moulding. I am using the existing cabinet and the gopuram base is 36"x20". Almost same size size as yours. I have learned that HomeDepot/Lowes can do the cutting for you. Do you think it will be a good idea? OR If i get the MiterBox, can i do it myself?

    • @diy-doityourway3779
      @diy-doityourway3779  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the kind words. Measurements depend on multiple factors like if you are using any trim on top before the actual gopuram starts, if so width of the trim etc. For example if you use a 2inch trim around on top, the length would be 26 inches (30 -2 -2) and width will be 16 inches(20-2-2) for first level. Homedepot/Lowes does the cutting but they do only straight cuts and wont do cuts for a specific project. So I would recommend getting a cheap miter saw or a miter box and hand saw so you can make the cuts per your build.

      Frankly it is very difficult to come up with the measurements. I usually look at available space on top and the trim I use and do the math. What i did is cut small pieces of the trim and then arrange them with out glue and do the necessary adjustments. This might result in wastage but will accomplish the work needed.

      When cutting the crown molding, make sure you place it at the same angle you intend to put on the gopuram and the. Do the 45 degree cut. It seems people have had issues with gopuram and crownmolding. I cant promise but I will try to make a video in a week or two on how to cut crownmoldong with miter box for gopuram.

      Thanks for the nice words. I had zero experience in wood working until 3 years ago. I started watching TH-cam diy videos and read articles on woodworking. I did it on my own no training. You get things wrong first but then, you learn from your mistakes :)

    Nicely done, this is the best DIY I have seen so far.
    Few Quick Questions:
    1. What nail size did you use?
    2. What type of nailer have you used for this project?
    3. What glue did you use for this project?

    • @diy-doityourway3779

      Thank You.. I used 3/4 inch, 1 inch and 2 inch 18 guage brad nails based on trims i am using them on. I used Ryobi 18 guage cordless brad nailer. Titebond 3 or any wood glue will work.
