DIY hot pot dipping sauce does not require a lot of soy sauce and vinegar. The more commonly used ones are: minced garlic, green onions, coriander, chili, crushed peanuts (optional), fried beans (optional), a little salt, a little MSG, oyster sauce, sesame oil (this store puts it in a can on your table, some stores put it in the seasoning area), and the oil in the hot pot (optional). 18:40 the “thing” in the bowl here is called yin’er, literally translated to silver ear mushroom. (Don’t know if you have heard wood ear mushroom before.) It is a kind of fungus. It itself does not have any flavor. It is usually used in desert in which it is boiled to a kind of slimy texture. But when you bite it, it is a little bit crunchy.

As someone from chengdu who saw you two putting vinegar and soy sauce for that amount into the dipping sauce bowl, I was in total shock just like those 3 kiddos standing besides at the counter who want to have you guys notified 😂 normally when you have hotpot in Chongqing or around sichuan province in general, some sesame seeds, small chunk of minced garlic, a little bit oyster sauce, a bit green onions and cilantro along with few tablespoons of aromatic oil(Xiang oil) just good to go. Any salt or sweet and vinegar will smash the flavor of hotpot base. Besides, the longer the pot is cooked, more salty the cooked food gets, so soy sauce and salt in large amount is excessively destructive.
成都人来说一句,重庆火锅重麻重辣,是很正宗的,但是不能吃辣的就点微微辣加鸳鸯锅就好了,太辣了什么味道都吃不出来,除了辣还是辣😂 too much chili would cover all the taste and flavor of food, and may cause stomachache. I always choose the two-flavor hot pot, with slightly spicy, and boil vegetables in the not spicy part, boil meat in the spicy part, also add some oyster sauce and vinegar in the mixed sauce to reduce the spicy feeling, I really wished someone can help you to really enjoy the hot pot😅 Thanks for your video❤

Welcome to my hometown, Jiangsu, the province with the best economy in China. The 13 cities in this province are fiercely competitive, each believing itself to be the best in the province. Recommend visiting Suzhou's gardens, Wuxi's Lingshan Giant Buddha, Changzhou's Dinosaur Park, and Yangzhou's Slender West Lake. Try Suzhou-style Dim sum, squirrel mandarin fish, sweet and sour pork ribs, Dongpo Braised Pork, lion's head, crab roe bun, and Wonton. These are all unique flavors in China, as most regions in China prefer spicy dishes, with only a few areas eschewing spicy food. The preference for sweet dishes in southern Jiangsu is particularly distinctive.

Enjoyed your video so much!
A little tip for the viewers that want to visit China, please avoid Chinese national holidays, especially May 1- 10, October 1-10, and Chinese new year. And give those unpopular destinations a go, like Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, guizhou … have fun.
Yes ahah, maybe I should have gone to Xinjiang first before Chongqing but we went after the holiday!
Those dessert the hotel offers is white mushrooms! Really good for skin beauty and digestion. I cook once a month at home for myself and my two girls. I cook it with goji berry ( good for eyes and skin), jujube (red dates) and dried longan fruit. ( Sometimes with lotus seeds too if i want it extra fancy). It used to be premium dessert back in the old days, but it's very common and popular now due to its enoumous health benefits.
not mushroom. fungus.
Enjoy your video.cannot stop
You are very brave. Despite all warnings from the medias not to take ‘risk’ coming to China , you did it.There are particularly many foreigners in CHONGQING, which proves China's security.
It was worth every risk, it’s completely blown my mind!
China is one of the safest countries in the world, there is almost no theft and robbery, and don't worry about cameras, there are many cameras on the streets of China, but they are for public safety, as long as you don't break the law, no one will interfere with your travel. Please do not believe that the Western media's reports on China are basically political and untrue. Come to China and see for yourself, you will know how hypocritical the Western media is.
Ive never heard of any media warning anyone not to visit China...Im from the US and watch news everyday... nor have I ever heard any US news say China is unsafe...Weird...where does that idea even come from? I only ever see it on TH-camrs Titles to draw in viewers.
@@aaap3875 Because you don't usually read negative reports about China in Western media, you don't know. When you watch too much news, you will feel terrible about China.Due to political reasons, the U.S. State Department’s travel advisory for destinations in China (including Hong Kong and Macau) mentioned the risk of arbitrary enforcement of local laws. China is level 4 and the worst. But the reality is that China is the safest.

I'm glad to see your new video. Hot pot is delicious, but choosing a popular hot pot restaurant is really crazy. Next time, you can try a hot pot chain store, which is usually not so crowded. Shu Daxia is good, and the price is also very affordable!🤣🤣🤣🤣
Such a lovely couple.I spent the whole afternoon watching your Vlogs. As a Chinese, it's an interesting perspective, to see our own people's lives through your eyes.Thank you for showing the real situation, no bias, just pure experience.I sincerely invite you to Suzhou, Suzhou is one of the most beautiful cities in China. If you could come,I would be very willing to take you to experience this city.Wishing you all the best.❤

China has developed incredibly. Such a great nation.love from pakistan.thanks Jack to show us.
great video!love it ❤❤❤
Hi Jack. Thanks for sharing your wonderful experience, enjoy your journey and keep going!
As for the greeting, use "chi le ma" as you want. Some comments said it is typical for northern residences, but most chinese people can get your kindness, i believe. for my own experience haha
I’m sweating just watching you tuck into that spicy noodle at the end!
yunnan is also the most attractive place to visit!there are plenty of beautiful natural landscapes and unique cultural which is don’t exist in other places in china!
Everyone's pallet is different. Vinegar can help cut the spiciness down too, a little bit is not bad.
Jack. That tea time served a traditional chinese dessert using special mushroom and fruits. I think brits could use some icy version.
Waiting for 2 hours for the table, you are very funny 😂😂😂
Because of you two guys, I haven’t felt asleep until now 2.50 in the morning, despite I’ve been to all the places you visited in China. 😂
Great content!
Thank you pal!
Zaberdast bro.choging is nice city.night view very attractive
Yess!! It was so great
China has the most luxurious and affordable hotels, and buffet breakfast is amazing too! Thanks for showing the nice and modern room. Mate, you can eat spicy, at least better than me lol
that's a dessert in your afternoon tea plate, it's made of white mushrooms, goji berries and dates. it's a chinese delicacy.
White mushrooms? I’ve never had sweet mushrooms before?
@@JackAynsleyTravel the mushroom itself is bland, the sweetness comes from brown sugar. in the US, we call it white fungus, it's incredibly nutritious, which i why it's used as chinese medicine, it's full of collagens, you two should eat more 😍
White mushrooms is priced for the collagen content which maintains beauty and youthfulness of the skin aka it has ant-aging benefits for the skin and joints.
I like you very much, you have a desire to explore, you can fit in well with the local area, you are very respectful of the local people's life, very polite, not full of prejudice and arrogance like most foreign tourists who come to China, you show the real China, which is completely different from what the Western media reports, it is unbelievable
One of the better vlogers.
Started watching few months bk,
Now one of my get goes.
Your good like your style,
Keep up the good work not be long before your mill
非常喜欢您的视频!
I am a Chinese and I don't even know that Chongqing got such good hotel at only 100 Dollars. I really want to spend a night there.
May 1 Labor Day holiday was busy in street, a lot of people!! 😮
15:08 "Too much CHongQing spicy food SOS button". 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
33:44 What the heck, both traditional and futuristic.
48:50 Lotus root, also one of my favorite 😋😋😋
So you have tried the legendary Chongqing hotpot. my wife told me about it when i met her fifteen years ago she was right it's hot and spicy . she also mentioned Chongqing women are hot too. I just love the culture and the food. sitting around the cauldron as it's being loaded up with all the different ingredients watching it simmer away. then dipping in with your chop sticks and enjoying the hotpot. what a lovely way to enjoy the day or evening.
You are so patient to wait for a table in restaurant. My highest record of restaurant wait is 2h, but the restaurant I wait for is in a mail, so I just took a walk in the mail and bought some drink while I waiting.
You guys @Jack doesn’t sound like British🇬🇧

It so is😍
Actually, '吃了吗‘(Chi Le ma) is rarely used in my daily life as a Chinese now. By the way, good trip!
haha I can't stop saying it! I hope you enjoy watching the video
That's why most people don't respond to him. In fact. I don't like hearing a stranger say that to me.
Just say nihao :) chi le ma is now mostly only used on the countryside within acquittances
"吃了吗″这种问候只在朋友或熟人之间使用而且大多数是北方地区,陌生人问别人″吃了吗″或″你好吗″是非常不礼貌的。″你好吗″是疑问句,表示你问的人可能并不健康。通常和别人打招呼直接说″你好″或″Hello"更好
so embarrassing to watch actually but everyone is happy after all
Hotpot is to Chongqing as fish and chips are to the UK.
That serves in the bowl of the afternoon tea should be a dessert 雪茸糖水
i can't wait for the next episode
Thank you! Hopefully it comes soon!
The vacuum one is dried tofu, not beans. And is soft and flavor!
