    I remember seeing this movie in the theaters with my father when I was 7. I quickly noticed how different the turtles looked during their opening dance number. I turned to my father and asked him why do they look so different and he just told me that they got older. I give him props for quickly coming up with a cover for it.

      Technically speaking, none of the Ninja turtle movies are great. But then again it's based off of a comic book intended to be over the top ridiculous and cheesy. Not just corny but super cheesy. But in my opinion the third entry is more in the spirit of the first film whereas the second film was played for laughs. Think about it. Shredder, when you falls into the ooze, not only grows extra big but his outfit becomes sharper and it too is mutated beyond belief. Which is a scientific and physical and possibility. Then the turtles have time to dance with rappers and the rappers come up with the turtles rap in two and a half seconds. I know rap is easy but it's not that easy. There's a lot of things over the top stupid in turtles 2. Teenage mutant Ninja turtles 3 tones those back down. We get the turtles we got in the first film. No, I'm not talking about the way they look. I'm talking about their attitude and personalities. I suggest that you watch the first movie skip the second then watch the third film. And you'll enjoy the third film much better because you won't have the silliness and ridiculous over the topness in the second film in your brain.

    You forgot one of the more pretty interesting unknown facts about this movie. The martial arts choreography was handled by Pat E. Johnson, who did the fight choreography for The Karate Kid (1984) and also played the ref at the All Valley Tournament. Also, Liu Chia-Leung (Lau Kar Leung), who is considered one of the greatest martial arts/kung fu movie directors and choreographers in film history (Shaw Bros.), was a technical advisor. 😎

    TMNT 2012 did some time travel. They even had Renet. They had the turtles in samurai gear too (with Usagi Yojimbo!). If you’ve never seen the show, it’s actually really good. I’m 36 and was obsessed with the Turtles as a small child, and I can honestly say that it’s better than TMNT 1987 😱. Oh, and Donnie is voiced by classic Raph!

    • @bubbythebear6891
      @bubbythebear6891 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      From what I've heard, it sounds good, but the art style in that show is just so UGLY! I'm sure that's what they were going for, but the weird way the characters move, and how their eyes sometimes turn completely white is just really off-putting. And then there's the color palette. Maybe some day I'll watch it and enjoy, but from the little bit I saw, I was just turned off.

    • @princessponee
      @princessponee 26 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      The 2012 reboot writing was peak TMNT 🐢 unlike the Philistines that threw this third movie together. The animation wasn't taking itself too seriously, other styles were used like when they went to different metaverses and met Turtles from different art styles, like the comic strip reality of the turtles, which depicted the turtles in a dark gritty anime, and then they went to the 80s cartoon version, and made fun of the older turtles art style while letting the audience know that the producers had the ability to create a hard core art style if they wanted. The stories were well made and would stand as the best telling of TMNT and far better than the latest TMNT movie that came despite having superior cgi.

    OK, I'll try to explain Turtles in Time subtitle. When the arcade game came out in 1991 it was called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time, but when SNES port came in 1992 it was released as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time. The number IV (4) stands as the forth TMNT title for home consoles. The others are:
    1. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1989) - NES
    2. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game (1990) - NES. Port of TMNT: The Arcade Game from 1989.
    3. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: The Manhattan Project (1991) - NES
    4. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time (1992) - SNES
    As for movie's Turtles in Time subtitle, at the time of movie's release, nowhere in the world was the movie called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: Turtles in Time. The subtitle was added as a marketing gimmick on home video releases. Kinda like Die Hard 2: Die Harder.

      Bingo. I was positive that there was no subtitle for the third movie when it was released but by the time I got my Blu-Ray set 10+ years ago, they were officially calling it Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: Turtles in Time. I've wondered if the relative popularity of the game - perhaps in conjunction with the lack of popularity of the film - led them to superficially tie the movie to the game in that way, perhaps to deliberately confuse people into thinking they were related.

In 2 because outcry against violence this Turtles movie. I mean the first scene Mikey can't use weapon so he uses sausages Raphael can't use his Sai's. Leonardo can't use his sword. Even when later in the movie when he and the rest of Turtles were suspended in a Net and his sword on visible on his back he doesn't use them to cut his way out. TMNT 3 do to fact that it was set in Feudal Japan compare to New York City it became a way to please hardcore fans who wanted to see the Turtles use weapons more but to make things less realistic by changing settings. The Dimension X military rock guys like General Traag would have been good... we didn't get that. The other two are not great in this illustrator/graphic designer's opinion.

    As a TMNT fan at the time of this movie, and having loved the previous 2 movies and the cartoon, I enjoyed this movie and still enjoy watching it now and again. It's not the greatest movie ever, but as a child it was a nice departure from dirty NYC sewers and The Foot Clan stuff.

    I actually really like the original poster for the movie, it's got it's own identity where as the other ones looked like quick mark-ups from a marketing team. Yeah they feature the turtles more prominently but they come across kind of bland.

    Also the posters. The dark poster with the turtles on horses was the American New Line Cinema distribution poster. The poster which you liked Minty was for outside the US and done by 20th Century Fox as Fox had the rights to Turtles 2 and 3 outside of the US which is why the poster art was different.

    At least the time traveling thing being based on the comic was something the film got right, so I won't blame the filmmakers for that.
    Just saying.....even though I didn't see the movies.

    Oh and you should do that Rocketman movie, Minty. I was kinda surprised you haven't heard of it lol I loved it as a kid.
    Also not to be confused with The Rocketeer

      It’s Not surprising at all that Minty had never heard of it. It wasn’t a big movie at all, it was just a fun little movie for it’s time that was it. It wasn’t a classic by any means. It’s a forgotten movie. The main character will always be remembered as the cop from Dumb and Dumber to me lol

    Ah well, the streak ended, i.e. "Minty" chose the third TMNT film rather than the 3rd F13 film.
