unsure if this works on a PS1 slim, i installed Unirom to a memory card on my already burnt psx and tested that Unurom opened on this afterwards to which it did, i then placed the memory card in the ps1 slim but it just didnt load at all.
@alexway8778 load a real ps1 GameShark disc. Pick start game. The GameShark cd will stop spinning then prompt you to put in a disc. That's when you put in the unirom boot disc cd-r that you made. (Github unirom files. Be sure to get the correct bios for your model ps1. Then follow the prompts on screen to make a unirom memory card.
Is there some unique hardware ID involved or could we theoretically start duplicating those memory cards like FreeMCBoot on PS2? Would love to ship a PS1 homebrew one day.
Still have 2 of these and original ps1. Weirdly loads of genuine games and hardly any on cdr. This due to people who sold those were still asking £5-10 each. I had no idea of the process involved to obtain them otherwise.
Seeing ImgBurn took me back
I still burn ImgBurn
Thank you, this is the only guide I managed to find without a PS2, or memory card with an SD card slot.
Straight to the point and well explained. Nice!
Love it! Some old style type of making your console working ;) I miss those days of burning CDs, DVDs and BluRays... Those were awesome times!
This is why i kept all my old stuff
When i had a ps1 i installed a chip.. easy worked every time
damn after almost 30th year there is still legit tutorial for this
cleanest PS1 on youtube!
The golden age of pirating. It was so easy back then. I miss those times 😥.
Good Explanation Brother 😊
This is incredible
I like that they mad the Unirom screens look like a Commodore 64. :)

Used to do this years ago when I had the Sega dreamcast,Used to bypass copyright games
If you use a game shark ps1 disc like i did. you can skip the swapping.

How convenient I have a GameShark
Think I'll stick to my chipped consoles. 😊👍
You can get a ps2 qnd turn it into a dev kit. Then all you have to do is put the cd-r in the drive and it will boot like an original disc.
So the Xbox, PS1 and PS2 can now be softmodded. Here's hoping someone finally softmods the 360.
hell yea! the disk swap. I still have my burned games.
PSone is the same process. You can use PSXmemcard that takes micro SD card.
Nice! 👍

Will this work on an NTSC-J (Japanese) ps1?

Crap, now what am I going to do with my X-Station?!
Extra retro 2025...

Brings me back to the old days of Action Replay. Have that baby plugged in and you could boot to anything. I miss those days.
I've got an Action Replay clone with UniROM for that these days.

Raspberry pi pico help you 😉
Doing the swap trick is the fastest way to mess up your console and discs. Don't do this, PS1 games can be emulated even on a washer machine.
