It's true as C.C. & Lelouch (L.L.) kept on doing what they left off from Resurrection so making the original series untouched in a sense. If Shirley shows up for no apparent reason. Then it is 100% obvious.
Here's a thing the author code geass mentioned that they will not touch the original timeline anymore. They needed to create an alternate one to somehow expand the story further. Therefore anything that comes out are "canon" to the alternate timeline. The original timeline was already a done deal. Lelouch is dead in there, it is sealed off.
There will always be people who'll want to ruin peace, the same is true in the real world... Lelouch no longer has to bother getting involved in the wars since it Schneizel, Black Knights, Suzaku and the others' headache now. Him and C.C have their own thing to worry about, Geass Fragments.
@@hollyscahill3325 somehow Schneizel has returned, somebody accidentally used a geass cancelor on him. And now he's back for revenge. That would actually be pretty good ngl if it does happen
@@lol_OzmaI saw no Schneizel make a cameo appearance. And am I missing something else? There was no next episode previews in the dubbed version, did they cover them in the subbed version?
Tbh for me roze is just a fun watch if ur bored and wants more of code geass. There’s nothing special about the series but its enough to keep me engaged , and the only interesting part about this series is ash himself
Yh Ash is unique and intersting than others in the show but his death really shocked me at the end , maybe he will rise again just like Lelouch, I wish he would
It's complete garbage with a dog water, overly forced plot. It has the same energy as the Star Wars trilogy after Disney bought it and started milking it for all its worth or the Legend of Korra. I'm not supporting corporate greeds second hand slop just created to milk an established IP. Hard pass. No one should. Stop encouraging this behavior and instead force the companies that do it to create more great works to stay profitable
The sad thing is that the plot is incredibly simple, unlike the OG where it challenges your beliefs in a philosophical debate or very intellectual conversations sometimes
When Sumeragi first uses her Geass, she poses a choice to her adversary(something along the lines of obey or die - can't remember and too lazy to look it up). He refuses and his body just executes him before he can realise what's going on. My first thought was "Wow, that's such a cool idea. Her Geass works by presenting a choice. There's so much potential for various word-play and very percise wording to be required depending on the goal, or ways of forcing a Cacth 22. That's way more interesting than just ordering people around". But no...she just orders people around. Still a fun "turn off your brain and watch" anime.
@@ivanguliashki I do wonder if Lelouch could have offered the same choice the way she does and she was just creatively using her almost identical power or that was a subtle difference
@@DIEGhostfish Her geass is almost the same as Lelouch, but it works a little different than his. Lelouch was the very person who gave her Geass tho his reasons for doing so remains to be unknown.
This "choice" basically more or less just resulted in her getting caught for it later. This in its own was somewhat interesting as it showed that someone was paying attention and tried to figure out why certain things turned out the way they did (because she was using her geass).
I get what you mean but she didn't give him a choice though He had a gun so if he decided to not obey (save people like her) and shoot her, it will backfire It was a good word play he didn't understand that kept her protected in case of danger At the end of day he didn't have a choice really
When I first started the Roze of the Recapture, I immedately started drawing similarities to the old Characters. A lot of these Characters are definately just copy pastes with a few differences.
I like how they added the other protagonists (fromthe Spinoffs manga & novels) nto the show, like having Leila and her team get cameo and some fight scenes. I like how they show that there will always be people who'll want to ruin peace, much like in the real world... I want to see the other old cast tho (especially Shirley) and make Sakuya shine more to be a worthy successor of Lelouch's legacy in some way since she's his niece and chosen by him specifically to grant a Geass.
@@Moa_Smug yeah, there’s a lot they could’ve done with it. After being able to watch all the way through Rozé of the Recapture, it’s not horrible. I just feel like they didn’t really try anything when it comes to the major plot points, I liked the characters, and I wish they’d done a better job. I also feel like 12 episodes just isn’t enough for an anime like Code Geass. It’d’ve been better if it was the original 20ish episode 2 seasons.
@@Dr.SwagPHDinDrip Yeah it's lacking episodes to develop Sakuya and balancing the world building + MC development are difficult in just 12 episodes. Hopefully when the next season comes they'll give it more episodes to properly balance them like in Lelouch's anime.
PSA TO ANYONE WHO DOES NOT KNOW: Roze is a Sequel to the recap movies, NOT the OG Anime. They made small but significant changes in the recap movies. As of EP 9,i think we can say that all code geass movies and ROZE are in same universe separate from the OG
@@ABCDEFG-sp2pg U keep comparing it to the original that's why ur view is so narrow and can't accept change. Lelouch (both the original and the alternate timeline)'s story is over, he has a different goal now so it's up to Sakuya and others to keep protecting the peace he left behind. Of course there will always be people who'll try to ruin peace, but there are many capable characters in the series (old and new) to protect that peace... Sakuya just gets drowned by the number of cameos from various characters and the anime lacked episodes to develop her.
Use to be the standard of free standing anime with not pre-existing manga. Roze seems to stumble their way to shocking plot twists expecting everyone to feel a significant meaning
I keep watching video bout roze of recapture. Tbh why so much hate on this anime? not peak but definetly not trash series. first of all , code geass is one whole verse , i am well aware of it since akito the exile era. lelouch is not the protagonist of this series/verse anymore.L.L and C.C are the wandering witch and warlock on CG verse. 2nd.point of view of different protagonists such as lelouch , akito , roze (2 from the manga, i forgot their names.) 3rd.Lets wait for the upcoming series and future announcements, this is just the beginning of the deep story of 'code geass' itself since those 2 (c.c and l.l) start tracking back the origin or atleast investigating on it. my only disappointment is how the fk 'britanian empire back'? the neo britanian empire so strong that the ufn didnt do much of it? 5 to 7 yrs of peace. left by lelouch lost like that lol. not to mention they conquer the northern part of japan which is hokkaido. ( so many weird questions in my brain rn. lol)
14:32 I’m not a mech design connoisseur by any means, but the late game geass suits are a lot more striking to me than anything I remember from roze by a long shot. It’s not just a CGI issue either because there’s been lots of other great CGI mecha fights over the last couple of decades.
The premise is warmed over, the villain is as someone pointed out to me basically just a mix of three* gundam villains only one of which was any good. But the main to characters really appealed to me *Iron Mask(Plan and misthanthropy) Rau LaCruset(Origin and Misanthropy) and an unposessed Full Frontal(Orinin and look)
You know what serves as a perfect setting for a sequel? Corporations taking over the world for resources and domination after a few decades from original ending.
@@NyadTempest People just won't stop comparing this to the original that's why. And to my surprise there are still many that are not aware that Lelouch of the Resurrection movie is set on an alternate timeline not the original and this anime series was set 3-4 yrs after the Resurrection movie.
There so much misinformation in this video. Okouchi isn't the writer of Roze nor is he attached to Roze. The original Code Geass actually had a complete 50 episode scripts already written before R1 finished airing but R1 was so popular that Sunrise execs wanted piss on the pond so they hired another writer and changed episodes 26-50 to get the primetime tv slot primed for more cashgrabbing hence why R2 plots were so all over the place. At least Okouchi stuck to his guns in still following through the original ending which is Lelouch planning his own death. Resurrection was also edited by the director so his AU trilogy movie can be integrated into Resurrection. Shirley should have stayed dead. And all the lewd scenes in R1 were ingratiated into the story plot that they don't feel so lewd and out of place. Unlike in R2 as the story was all over the place that the lewd scebes were just there for the lewdness and nothing to make the story move forward. Same with Roze.
well you should post those claims with actual interview rather than hearsay as without those it would only amount to rumors. meanwhile if someone stated the death of the author of hotd author they can easily google it. r2 plot is not over the place as they can still be easily understood unlike how shitty the plot in rose is when they had past premise not properly being explained or even current events just outright showcasing knightmare fights without the tactics actualize how THEY FUCKING ESCAPE THE SSEARCH OF THE LEADERS WHEN CG EVEN USE EXCAPE TACTICS TO SHOWCASE LELOUCH PREPAREDNESS IN MOST OF HIS FIGHTS.
Can we get some citations on this? Popular belief remains that Okouchi and Taniguchi were sitting on the finished scripts for Geass 24 and 25 and the order to change the ending into sequel bait led to the production delay and subsequent standalone summer premier of the 'new' 24 and 25. What have you got in your pocket? Links are helpful.
I had no major problem with roze, until i saw a knightmare frame of that one girl character do a stretching animation :0 can knightmare frames now emote or what huh that was so bafling to me and came out of nowhere, i understood when she used her taunt emote on an enemy but *stretching* !?
Making mechas more and more busy and with extra and extra features is what has happened to the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG too. The cards used to be easy to understand and could all be blown up by special effects. Now all of the cards have protection against various effects or you summon a bunch of monsters and they all protect each other, making busy and busy boards full of cards on the first turn. Who knew...even anime is getting power crept!
The annoying power crept were already were already in the original series. Heck, you can easily argue that the knightmares were a power crept of the series.
😂 holy shit I haven’t watched you go oh in years. I’m already disappointed with this new Code Geass. As someone said , it can be a fun watch if you’re bored but nothing exciting. More titty’s and boring dialogue
the reason i didn't watch Code Geass: Roze of the Recapture is because the main character was not l lelouch. But then i heard that he was coming back and thats what made me watch it
Well, maybe I should watch it... I like the combination of fanservice and mechs, It's just really hard to find an anime that does both while having good writing.
terribly marketed is an understatement. i'm a huge fan and I remember hearing about this one time thinking oh wow its another code geass filler movie but then forgot about it till december 2024, when I watched it in 2 days flat after happening to see it on hulu.
18:33 talking about this subject I really like how the movie resurrection was done although the plot was kinda simple (which isn’t all bad) the new interactions between characters and tbh a better conclusion for C2 or C.C. whatever you wanna call her was done better than the original anime ending although that ending was perfect I seriously did not like how they concluded C2 like she wanted to die because she was tired of immortality and only Lelouch could kill her, we get no explanation as to what happened to lelouch’s Geass after the confrontation with Charles and his mother and all we got was just C2 traveling the countryside with some unknown person (foreshadowing?) which everything besides that the ending was a 9/10 but the movie definitely cleared things up in my opinion but to each their own really you can say code Geass true ending is in season 2 but to me I like how it ended with the movie and how lelouch and C2 both become masters (both are immortal)
I like how they added the other protagonists (from the Spinoffs manga & novels) into the show, like having Leila and her team get cameo and some fight scenes. The anime lacked episodes to properly develop Sakuya and showing the world building. This anime would've done better if it had more episodes like in Lelouch's anime. Here's hoping that in 2nd season it'll have more episodes coz seriously 12 episodes aren't enough especially when u have a massive cast. (Both the old and new cast).
it's the almost the original light like coca cola light some people don't want to allocate that much attention it's like buying a cheaper car of the same brand
It's not even retconned, Lelouch of tge Resurrection was set in an alternate timeline, not the original. And the Roze of the Recapture was set 3-4 yrs after Resurrection movie.
i honestly enjoyed roze of the recapture. the battles were good, it was clear it was a continuation, and i like the characters. i do agree that it was not amazing and it does copy same story beats of the original but the thing i enjoyed was seeing more of the world of code geass. i would like to see more from the world of code geass.
Man, I remember that one. While it's not as good, I really like the concept of passing of time and the Gundam evolutions per generation. Reminds me of OG Gundam to ZZ Gundam.
I'm watching the show for curiosities sake but legitimately shook my head when we got Ash's backstory regarding Norland and his brother. When Norland stoically killed Ash's brother over a singular failure and then Ash got jailed, my immediate thought was "Oh so you're just 1 dimensional dick". Unless Norland had some big brained play, that whole sequence screams as excessive with not an ounce of nuance in Norland and Ash's relationship. Simple Black and White relationship of being wronged
You clearly missed the whole point of the backstory and the early parts of it. Noland didn't kill Ash's brother because of a singular failure, he wanted him gone from the very beginning, and he only saw Ash as having high potential. When it came time that he did make a mistake and he said he would pay for it Noland saw it as the perfect opportunity to finally get rid of him especially since he messed up Ash's effectiveness who he was essentially using as a perfect assassin, which was now a lot harder with him being exposed.
In addition if you pay attention in the one part of the flashback you can see that Norland was working under Charles Vi Brittania (While next Bismark) and it would seem has essentially inherited the want to control Japan how it used to be. In original code geass everyone was just an asshole wanting to oppress the people, this is almost no different
@@dominow2121 Norland's excuse to kill Ash's brother resulted in Ash snapping at Norland and subsequently defecting(which will also come to bite him in the future btw). Which is why I said unless Norland has some big brain play with Ash, it's just a short sighted dick-ish move.
I finally caught up to the latest episode of Roze of the Recapture (#8 as of this post). Roze's a fun watch with moments of nostalgia (and fan service). That said, I did find the pacing to be a bit erratic at times, most likely due to Roze only being 12 episodes long. I'm not clamoring for a 25 episode season like the original series, but I don't think 12 episodes is enough for Roze to tell its story. I've also never been a fan of the 3D knightmare frames battles either going back the 1st Akito movie. I get it's probably easier and more cost efficient to use 3D models, but something about the 2D mecha designs from the original series (specifically the 1st season) made the fight scenes a lot more grounded and memorable. Both in Roze and Akito, the 3D fights have felt disorienting to watch. ***Update: just watched the 12th & final episode. Won't spoil any specifics, but it left me irritated.
The one thing I like is that despite the parallel to the first installment, it’s more contained and less worldwide influential. The Zero Requiem has past, and there are guardians out there protecting it. This conflict, although serious for everyone, is not going to change the world. It’s just an epilogue of what was left of the old world. The fact that Kallen - the greatest elite of the Black Knight pilot - and Zero - secretly Suzaku who is also the best pilot with a legacy so powerful, any loyalist to the old Britannia would shake in fear of hearing the name Zero - are not involved yet shows just how small the conflict is. They got bigger fish to fry. Even Lelouch and CC are busy dealing with Geass Fragments, who are far more deadlier opponents. The story so far avoids undermining the previous MCs. But it doesn’t have Pizza Hut placement around the show yet. I am terrified that the company has finally went bankrupt in that world.
Agree with 6ep in. Completely disagree, after ep10+ . It took such a twist, that one may think they wanted the "conflict resolution" as its highlight as a finale dangled like a carrot in front of everyone. Everyone thought the same how it resemblanced geass. Just to have the obvious 'central conflict' resolution handled in one midseason episode.
You speak of "retconning", but I mean, if you didn't see this coming from the obvious ambiguity at the end of S2, then I don't really know what to tell you.
Your last point sums it all, the creators have made such a brilliant show that it is not at all easy for any sequel to top it off. For most people including me Code Geass is Lelouch.
Håller med att det är ett ganska tunt och dåligt tillägg till serien, synd när orginal CG är så bra. Vi har i alla fall fått många andra remakes, noveller och uppföljare som redan dem kändes som mer än vad man kunna vänta sig.
I didn't expect anything special from "Roze of The Recapture" from the start so when I watched an entire title, I wasn't mindly dissapointed. I liked some of the ideas, OP was good and the final battle was entertaining to watch. But it's not a Code Geass, it's more like a "Sunrise" product. You can't expect anything good from that studio nowadays.
A void critique overall, you can read the same bad takes on freaking Reddit. Also, this new series isn't even finished, this is a sequel to the recompilation movies, the original series hasn't been touched in years, Code geass it's been a franchise without Lelouch as a main character FOR YEARS (You would know that if you watched antything outside the og series) and many narrative elements of this new series can be explained by one simple fact: lenght and the number of episodes. The fact a that 50 episode series can balance exposition better it's evident, also the og series had to established a general setting (something that a sequel generally doesn't need to do, because no one will start there) 8:34 That was explained in the promotional pamphlets in Japan (basically: It’s not the original one, it was the second model in construction. This one is weaker because it cannot reach satelite orbit. And it was stated in the og series that it’s just a machine, it can be reconstructed) Also, no. Rozé it’s not trying to replicate or mimic the vibe of rebellion againts a powerful military force (you’ve to be really bad in your comprehension skills to reach that) it’s more similar to a closed up hunting ground, an isolated conflict of a far smaller scale. A really different context unlike the original series, because flash news, this isn’t the original series. Also, most of your worldbuilding complains have already been explained, and many of them are proof that you haven’t consumed any Code geass media outside the og series. Basically, your critique lacks information, narrative comprehension and even integrity (you know, for whining publicly about a series that isn't even finished)
Exactly. This is the first time this channel popped up in my feed, and I'll be pressing that "do not show this channel" option. Lazy analysis parroting halfass reddit critiques.
Relying on physical pamphlets for exposition is completely idiotic, you will not convivence me otherwise. The information like vast majority of the non-Japanese viewing audience is going to go into this with is their experience watching the original series and/or the movies. In both the original TV anime and the movies, the series ends with a shot of the Damocles flying into the sun. If you need to rely on external materials to make your story internally consistent, you have failed as a writer. It's especially confusing because there's no real reason why they needed to include the Damocles at all. It's not critical to the plot and it's blown up in one episode anyways. It's just a gimmick to give Nina something to do. This whole "it's a sequel to the movies and not the original!" is also completely ridiculous. The overall plot of the two is almost exactly the same, with the only major change being that Shirley doesn't die. You claim that Code Geass functions as a franchise without Lelouch but they literally had to bring him back for the Resurrection movie 5 years ago because the franchise clearly doesn't work without him. Even if you can go on an fishing expedition to explain all of the seeming inconsistences they had to contrive to make the setting work, it doesn't change my other problems with this show. Chief among them that the Neo-Britannians are completely uninteresting villains with no depth. We're 3/4ths of the way done and Norland still has gotten basically zero development or explanation of his motives and his lackeys are seemingly all equally deranged. Finally, the idea that somehow you're not allowed to critique a work of media before consuming the entire thing is patently absurd. I wrote this when the show was over halfway done. If that's not enough to be allowed to form an opinion I don't know what to tell you. If anything, episode 9 is only proving me more correct with the absurdity of the killer roombas.
@@gomi-san 1. I’m not saying it’s a “good” method of exposition, it’s just what we got. Your complain on that part centered on how “it wasn’t explained” not how it was explained, don’t try to gaslight people. But i agree, it’s not a good method for an overseas release, it’s almost like…we are not the main target of this project (from what country is this franchise again? Don’t seem to remember. Silly me) 2. Just because Resurrection brought lelouch back in the movie’s timeline doesn’t invalidate my point, it even reinforces the fact that you haven’t watched Akito, listen to the audio dramas or give it a shot with Code geass: Renya of darkness (or basically any other code geass project that wasn’t a big event like the already mentioned movie) 3. Your problem with the antagonists it’s entirely subjective (a.k.a it’s just not your cup of tea) because by being a far more isolated conflict of a smaller scale it makes sense from a narrative standpoint that you would have to dealt with characters in a more lineal way, not only because of the characteristics of the setting, but because of the number of episodes. That’s why the focus on this series has been it’s main co-protagonists and not an entire cast like in the original. They just don’t have the space to expand in the same way. I don’t have a particular problem with this, because i think one shouldn’t judge a piece of fiction for how well it matches to what I’d do or want but to the extent it’s completes it’s own objectives and goals. If a piece of fiction wants to do certain thinks in a certain way and it fulfills that goal, perfect. That doesn’t mean that any show or series it’s perfect, and Rozé has it’s many problems (the biggest in my opinion: the pace) but complaining because a narrative element or direction it’s not being handle the way you’d like it’s a bit egotistical and it’s not an argument of something being objectively bad (an example in a different context: the fact that many people dislike Suzaku’s character and the direction it took in most of the story doesn’t inherently mean that Suzaku is a bad character narratively speaking. It was created to go in a certain way and that’s exactly what he did) 4. And finally…no, it’s not ok trying to critique seriously a piece of fiction if you haven’t finished it. Watching a series and analyzing it completely after everything is closed it’s essential because that way you can judge the progression with a full picture. That’s just common sense.
Pretty much. Honestly there was such little overall plot development that you could watch the first episode then skip straight to the last one and assume that everything you missed could be fit into one episode
Alright after 2m in ill give it a go and come back to comment if it made me wish I hadnt. Hoping it's not bad, Code Geass at least the OG is my top show of all time.
Honestly it’s pretty damn good and I actually grew up with Code Geass. I’m really glad I didn’t listen to others and watched it for myself. It was a good time. 7/10 but personally 8/10 for me (I’m at episode 10)
When I started this anime I was annoyed that it wasn't getting a lot of attention but now that I've finished it I think the show got as much marketing it deserved because it was so hollow and rushed. I'd rather this incredibly mid show not be discussed in the wider anime community
It's official. Anime can't do sequels. Inuyasha. Code geass. D note Boruto. Etc. it feels like after a rush end or a good end they just end up with nothing to do so they just do things for them to happen Sadly this anime will be a forgotten mess which is sad as it has potential to be great if we got 25 episodes at least. But somehow they crammed everything into 12.
This wasn't ever going to be great; this new Hokkaido conflict has no reason to happen in the sociopolitics of the setting, so the scenario makes no sense and exists solely to have a Geass story of some sort. Instead of reaching back to the era of the Empire, where we were often teased with side-conflicts all across the world through photonovels and gaiden stories, they invented some shit premise for a 'Neo Britannia' just to put some gas in the tank. This was never going to be a good story.
@@edgewoodsan you could find a smaller sect that hates losing against the japanese easily. But honestly even the og story had issues to it that lelouch got lucky on so it's not saying much. The enemies we're at least sorta cool trying to figure out Geass and not letting themselves get geassed by roze showing their loyalty. Too bad it all was wasted time.
@@ivanbluecoolI mean the fact that for some reason the New Brits managed to even control Hokkaido and gain that much power without the intervention from WHA or even UFN is baffling.. The enemy in Re:surrecion gaining secret power is kinda reasonable since it's a bit secluded and the Geass user is kinda OP ngl.. but in freakin Hokkaido!??? Jeez. Like how did that Damocles fortress even managed to be rebuilt?? Suzaku/Kallen/ Heck the black knights for some reason became inactive and stopped functioning..
i dont understand why pp again hate the roze. i just finished literally 10 minutes ago, and altho it has some problems, i think it was able to give back the overall "code geass" feelings. and just with 12 episode it was.... "expected" to feel like rushed, and just a copy paste the original. it was overall good, i liked the overall "knightmare frame evolution" seeing how they got bulkier but also more steamlined. that energy field around the island is pissed me a little ngl. it was supposedly been based on the.... uh. Lloyd old colleauge the indian lady Ganyjiou net or what she desinged and deployed against the lancelot turning it off, but that supposed to be already countered in the original series by Lloyd later. so it made no sense about "its inpenetrabe wholololoooo" it had a few plotholes and "made up" crap, but i can look past of it. the only thing what made me hol up it didnt make sense of "lelouch survival" i mean this was literally my theory for years even if everyone said no lulu died and thats it. i always belived he got the code when charles "died" and the code has been activated when suzaku killed him so he well ressurected later and became immortal just like CC. Thats the only hol the fuk up moment what made me both happy and confused. So overall its an enjoyable CC series, if u can just freaking stop comparing it to the original series and handle it as its own separate entity. Like an alternative "how the world has progressed after Zero requiem" in a little more detail what we got in the original shot.
If its a Disney show, then everything makes sense. Tron Legacy is the original Tron with better graphics, Star Wars Episode 7 is Star Wars Episode 4 with elements of 6. Wheneber Disnay makes a sequel, for some reason instead of coming up with a new plot they simply reuse an old one.
So Roze of the Recapture is considered for some people trash compared to the original Code Geass franchise? That hurts, but nevertheless, I agree with what they are saying about the new show, given the fact that I too hold some misgivings about it myself. And here's why: 1. Its opening is too colorful for my taste, and it doesn't involve other characters like the Einberg Knights and the Seven Shining Stars. It also lacks the luxury of adding other Knightmare Frames to the mix like Catherine's Queen Curaca and Haruka's Keisetsu, making it all the more low-key compared to the previous Code Geass openings I've seen. 2. The series consists of only 12 episodes, making it logical to say the number of episodes hasn't been well thought out. I wish they would've made 26 episodes instead of 12, making it a perfect successor to the original Code Geass franchise. 3. I've noticed that throughout most of the new Code Geass episodes I've seen, there seem to be some similarities in peoples actions based on those I've encountered from the original show. I mean, why couldn't they have made Roze of the Recapture to be original itself? If there's one wish I could make, it's that this Code Geass franchise would still be in the development stage until it is perfected and released in 2026 instead of 2024.
Great video… The original Code Geass R1 and R2 is one of my top 3 anime of all time so watching Roze was like a slap in the face to me the creators of this. There were so many things that made Code Geass legendary from the intro prologues, the character development, the world building, the explanation and different types of Geass and the methods Lelouch used to accomplish his goals! 50 episodes explained so much while Roze’s 12 episodes raced through it’s mediocre plot so fast that the last episode seemed so ridiculous I thought I missed like 5 episodes. This show was nostalgia bait for Code Geass fans with sprinkles of Code Geass lore spread on top of a terrible non sensical story that made no sense with characters that had no motivation to do what they were doing besides “cause the plot says so”
I enjoy this to a certain extend but man do I wish a fully alternate universe Code Geass series, similar to AUs of Gundam. No LL/CC, no returning cast, a fresh new world with its own twist on the Geass. Seriously, it really pains me to see "spin-offs" "sequels" or "side-stories" of Code Geass and Eureka Seven. Sure the characters are iconic but hey.
Somehow Disney manages to ruin another beloved franchise, but anime this time... that was supposed to be Netflix's thing!! The West must fall already this is getting ridiculous.
Thanks a lot! I was really on the fence about watching Roze of the Recapture due to my mixed reaction to Resurrection and my outright poor opinion of Akito the Exiled, but now I know what to expect.
Man, there's a ton of stuff I clearly forgot about in prior the Code Geass series when I thought that, before watching episode 10 today, Roze at least didn't break the world building terribly. Totally forgot that the Damocles got yeeted to the Sun. Also forgot that most of the nobility was mind controlled or bombed to oblivion. Mostly both. To say nothing of how much Roze fails to really recognize logistics and that having one good pilot and mecha doesn't really matter if the rest of your forces are mediocre. Made it especially weird that Schniezel, you know, the uber genius mastermind that Lelouch geasses into helping "Zero" out, somehow failed to find out and deal with the shenanigans that are afoot. Apparently the voice actor died, which sucks, but... The character is still alive. You can still reference the character making orders or have other people comment on such without appearing disrespectful or whatever. The fact that the Roze of the recapture movies had to have been done before the anime (and also the anime is just an echo of the movies, so far), is also pretty bad. Do the math. Each movie is ~70 minutes, call it 60 or 65 to accomadate for intros and credits, each. An episode roughly 20 minutes of content (cutting out endings/openings), with a 12 episode series. Movies are 4 acts, containing roughly 3 episodes per act of content. Kinda curious how that pans out, in'it?
Schneizel apparently "retired," but the only way you'd know that is if you read the pamphlet they gave out in Japanese theaters. But as you said, it's probably just because they didn't want to recast his voice actor since the original one passed away.
I've noticed that CG fans are just the same as NGE fans. They worship the original and are blind to the faults. I'll defend Rozè for at least having potential but all that got squandered because the story pacing was downright atrocious. All those plot points being glossed over ruins any sense of immersion with its incoherency. Code Geass Speedrun
It sounds as though Disney writers got ahold of Code Geass.
Wouldn't blame you for thinking that since they hold the exclusive rights to only air it on their annoying D+ service.
Why they do my boi like this 😭💀I can’t stand this new gen sht
People said that this is a sequel of the remake movie, not the OG
that true take place in recap movie /reboot timeline
It's true as C.C. & Lelouch (L.L.) kept on doing what they left off from Resurrection so making the original series untouched in a sense.
If Shirley shows up for no apparent reason. Then it is 100% obvious.
Here's a thing the author code geass mentioned that they will not touch the original timeline anymore. They needed to create an alternate one to somehow expand the story further. Therefore anything that comes out are "canon" to the alternate timeline. The original timeline was already a done deal. Lelouch is dead in there, it is sealed off.
Somehow the Empire has returned..
There will always be people who'll want to ruin peace, the same is true in the real world... Lelouch no longer has to bother getting involved in the wars since it Schneizel, Black Knights, Suzaku and the others' headache now.
Him and C.C have their own thing to worry about, Geass Fragments.

i have the same feeling here
Ash was quite unique ngl and much more interesting than anything else in the show
Yh Ash is unique and intersting than others in the show but his death really shocked me at the end , maybe he will rise again just like Lelouch, I wish he would
It's complete garbage with a dog water, overly forced plot.
Bro time leaps and finish the 12th episode while episode 8 is still airing
I get what you mean but she didn't give him a choice though
He had a gun so if he decided to not obey (save people like her) and shoot her, it will backfire
It was a good word play he didn't understand that kept her protected in case of danger
At the end of day he didn't have a choice really

Making mechas more and more busy and with extra and extra features is what has happened to the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG too. The cards used to be easy to understand and could all be blown up by special effects.

@@dominow2121 Norland's excuse to kill Ash's brother resulted in Ash snapping at Norland and subsequently defecting(which will

@@nowl775 Final villain being several bad char clones mashed together, and the final sacrifice making no sense

I just really like the mecha animation
I was going to watch roze of the recapture but then after this I realized im better off rewatching the first two seasons.

The fact a that 50 episode series can balance exposition better it's evident, also the og series had to established a general setting (something that a sequel generally doesn't need to do, because no one will start there)
8:34 That was explained in the promotional pamphlets in Japan (basically: It’s not the original one, it was the second model in construction.

@@nsampone322 mins of pretentious clownery
Silly me)
2. Just because Resurrection brought lelouch back in the movie’s timeline doesn’t invalidate my point, it even reinforces the fact that you haven’t watched Akito, listen to the audio dramas or give it a shot with Code geass: Renya of darkness (or basically any other code geass project that wasn’t a big event like the already mentioned movie)
3. It was created to go in a certain way and that’s exactly what he did)
4. And finally…no, it’s not ok trying to critique seriously a piece of fiction if you haven’t finished it. Watching a series and analyzing it completely after everything is closed it’s essential because that way you can judge the progression with a full picture. That’s just common sense.
Lol, the ending of this show is the chefs kiss of terrible only morons can defend. Absolutely spot on.
Hilariously the best part of the final episode is the five second cameo of Kallen with the 2D Guren.

When I started this anime I was annoyed that it wasn't getting a lot of attention but now that I've finished it I think the show got as much marketing it deserved because it was so hollow and rushed. I'd rather this incredibly mid show not be discussed in the wider anime community
Dude im trying to have faith in this season but every episode is hurting me 😭
I liked Rose, it shows what would have happened if Lelouch was less competent and more reliant on geass
Roze* you claim to like it but cant even name it correctly…smh
@@famous8844 *Rozé and autocorrect
It's official. Anime can't do sequels. Inuyasha. Code geass. D note Boruto. Etc. it feels like after a rush end or a good end they just end up with nothing to do so they just do things for them to happen
Sadly this anime will be a forgotten mess which is sad as it has potential to be great if we got 25 episodes at least.
@edgewoodsan what's a gaiden story?
@@returnedtomonkey8886 Gaiden means side story
code gyass
At least the opening is good
i was thinking about watching this but watched Code geass isntead
i dont understand why pp again hate the roze. i just finished literally 10 minutes ago, and altho it has some problems, i think it was able to give back the overall "code geass" feelings. and just with 12 episode it was....
Wheneber Disnay makes a sequel, for some reason instead of coming up with a new plot they simply reuse an old one.
disney doesn’t make anime, they just have the license to stream/dub it
So Roze of the Recapture is considered for some people trash compared to the original Code Geass franchise?
That hurts, but nevertheless, I agree with what they are saying about the new show, given the fact that I too hold some misgivings about it myself.
And here's why:
Yeah I really don’t think the anime is that bad, but guess I’m just one of the few who like it and don’t have to compare it to the OG🤷🏽♂️
Great video…
The original Code Geass R1 and R2 is one of my top 3 anime of all time so watching Roze was like a slap in the face to me the creators of this.
I’m pretty sure there is one, I forget the name but it has next to nothing to do with the original. It was pretty good
Somehow Disney manages to ruin another beloved franchise, but anime this time... that was supposed to be Netflix's thing!! The West must fall already this is getting ridiculous.
Thanks a lot! I was really on the fence about watching Roze of the Recapture due to my mixed reaction to Resurrection and my outright poor opinion of Akito the Exiled, but now I know what to expect.
The best part is how the show JUST. KEEPS. GETTING. WORSE!
The killer roombas from the sea were truly the most absurd thing in the entire show.
"My lord Neo Britannia is about to fall". :Noland: "send in the blender vacuum brigade" (aquatic division)
They totally wrecked the world building with those AI nightmares...
...Wait where have I heard all this before?
...Oh no, it is the second coming of Gundam Seed Destiny, except maybe even worse this time.
Could you provide the context post that was given to the japanese fanbase?
I don't think so. Roze of the recapture is good. Why did you say like that!
I think it's not that bad but yeah its really just a recap of th og plus.
It got really boring and the only thing that got me to keep watching it till I stopped was that FIRE OPENING
I saw this and understund is has 1 more anime show i need to watch this too
?
Mecha anime isn’t dead. It’s doing better than ever because more mecha anime are coming out today compared to a few decades ago.
I'll tell you what, Bravern got me into mecha when no other show could.
❤
its hard to take sakuya sumeragi seriously since she has big upper melons and big bottom apple.
bro could speak any language but chose to speak facts
Really dislike how in the final battle, Sakuya uses her geass on Ash kinda the same way Lelouch used it on Suzaku. So lame.
Because???
