This is what back for blood is missing. The music just puts you in the mood like you are in a horror movie. Honestly the soundtrack from left for dead holds up so well.
Back 4 blood is missing any trace of humanity. You buy left 4 dead 2 and it comes with all the dlcs, left 4 dead 1 and it's dlcs too. While back 4 blood has a standart edition, a premium edition and an ULTIMATE edition for 90€! Absolutely mad

Yeah, crash course just feels so epic and Dead Air really exclamates the sorrow and loss that the green flu had brought upon humanity, before both parts are cut out with a more motivational build up, like it’s saying, if we don’t want to die, then we need to keep on moving, and hopefully we can get to safety.
Yeah, Dead Air's violin really just sounds like a tragic and hopeless revelation
To bad Valve never finished the level "Dam It", it would've been so fun
Dam It was dropped after Valve bought the rights of L4D from Turtle Rock Studios just before L4D1 was released. Yet surprisingly Dam It still seems to be owned by TRS and not Valve. That may be the reason it was not included in L4D1 when the game was published.
You can still play the map if you want. Just download it from game maps
Old comment but I'm gonna reply, the Dam It campaign was developed by the original studio that developed Left 4 Dead, Turtle Rock Studios, before Valve bought the rights to it. Turtle Rock Studios then couldn't finish it, and Turtle Rock Studios still had the rights to Dam It so Valve was unable to fully complete the campaign.
All I've to say about Dam it is that it needs a ton more polishing. Its current iteration is by all means far worse than Crash Course. I mean who the hell thought its a good idea to create the Dam map where the survivors has to literally balance themselves on a beam to cross? That part reminds me of that godawful sewer crescendo in Cold stream and Cold stream is god awful through and through compared to Dam it that has a semi good second map.
I just notice that the final crescendo of the intro to Blood Harvest features instrumentation from all the previous intros: the Brass from Crash course, the rattling (dont know the instrument) from Dead Air, it all points to the levity of Blood Harvest, the levity of "no, this is actually your last chance of escaping"

Some people hate Blood Harvest and I wondered why, it's a great campaign.

@@mikeaz20 It has some choke points and it sucks playing it on versus because there is a place on the last map where the survivors can defend and kill all enemies without having problems
@@mikeaz20 Personally I just find it kinda of boring. Being set out in the country doesn't lend itself well to big, memorable set pieces like the hospital in No Mercy, or the airport in Dead Air. You're just kinda out in the woods in Blood Harvest.

I may be fast forward three years but I especially like it for the trombone and the timpani
One thing i really think the campaign intros needed was the survivor animations in left 4 dead 2. I imagined the no mercy intro with Francis pouting in the corner, Louis focused on Bill declaring leadership, and Zoey pacing back and forth, totally scared about the situation.

So similar yet so different
The subtle background synths (or whatever those weird sounds are) is what makes these tracks great. It gives that subtle inhumane, alien feel to the tracks. While piano and violin keep the "human" part of the tracks upfront, those weird backgrounds give the anxious feeling that something's wrong, something sinister is hiding in the background.
L4D2 music hits way different, in subjectively inferior way. After some point banjos and tubas just become annoying to me, because i never liked either of them as instruments.

I cannot blame you. Blood harvest along with Hard rain are my least played maps, NOT because they're bad maps/campaigns but because they're actually some of the spookiest maps for me. Always make me uneasy(more than it should) to plod in forests and hard rains...

Alfie Pople they have a leitmotif they follow, which is basically a fancy way of saying they use the same tone while also staying fairly distinct to the tone of each of the campaigns
