- Tutorials in games are often times pretty boring. In this episode I made a Tutorial without actively telling the player what to do. Instead I'm giving the player challenges which he has to overcome to continue. In the end it worked out kinda well I think hahah. Having the game on Steam was a big help, the last episode ( • Bringing a Game to Ste... ) was about exactly this.

like your way of thinking. But feel free to watch the others. The game evolves that rapidly that at this point it shouldn‘t make a difference if you have seen them or not.
In general the first test will matter less and less over time.

Tutorials are like Machine Learning you can ether used Reinforced learning (ie lava = bad) and not explain anything or Supervised Learning (ie. press X to jump) it all depends on the previous experience of a gamer on what is the best approach.

Thanks! There actually are graphics settings already. But I think I didn't showed them in an episode. Tele used the lowest settings when he was testing when you want to take a look

This definitely deserves a sub
Reciepie to making great tutorials:
1. Make them skippable (not required unless the game is multiplayer)
2. Make the player able to do different stuff like exploring during the tutorial, not just ”press this specific button and then this one, oh and you cant press anything else.” (mostly talking about mobile games)
3. Learning by doing is better than learning by specific instructions.
4. Don’t make it unneccesarily long. This is especially important for multiplayer games.
Games that did tutorials well: Breath of the wild, Splitgate, League of Legends, Minecraft (although a bit annoying when you start a new profile, by using curseforge etc. because it wants you to cut down a tree which might not be possible for a long time into the mod).
There are of course more games that did well but listing them all would take a loong while.

Why don't you add a mini boss level where one of the statues just gets up and starts swinging at you, it could fly around with its wings and could use that little orange part you gave it as a sorta Lazer blasting out Like supermans heat vision itsa lot of work but I think it'd improve the game, (just don't make it die on the first hit)

first of all I want to keep the comment section free from the german language.
I dropped out of school so I didn't study anything. I know some people who studied and I'm perfectly fine with not having studied. When your goal is to get hired as a game dev this is probably the best way. But when you want to have any significant future in the industry you have to do more that just getting a degree
