    I only wish that Zoos would release all there elephants to parks and sanctuary’s like this one. There are so many that only have a small enclosure to move around in. When you see some of these enclosure’s it really makes me cry. You know they are in distress, by the way they shake there heads from side to side. I can see it. Why, oh why cant the zoo management see it. Well done from an animal lover in the UK.

      I won't go to zoos, circuses, they are cruel. I was 15 was at my home town zoo, stood for 20 minutes off in the background was a panther. He paced back and forth, back and forth. When I leave I look over my shoulder and she was still doing it. I never went back never, cruel slow insanity

      Don't worry, TES and PAWS are taking great care of the Elephants, No Chains, No Bullhooks & Electric Shock Devices, No physical abuse with hands and feet, no nothing. These two official Sanctuaries are doing their jobs and letting Elephants be Elephants
      TES's Website: www.elephants.com/
      Even watch the Elephants when they're on the live cameras here: www.elephants.com/elecam
      PAWS: www.pawsweb.org/
      If only Tyke the Elephant were still alive today then she would be happy at PAWS or TES. R.I.P Tyke, you didn't deserve to be in Circus Life but you're finally at peace.

    I understand that Asian Elephants are kept separated from African elephants. But what happens if they do interact? Do they fear one another?
    From what I have read I understand that they are quite distantly separate genetically. For example, Asian elephants are more close genetically to a Wooly Mammoth than they are to an African Elephant. This is something I would like to know more about.

  • @billyboblillybob344
    @billyboblillybob344 5 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    I think they're wrong about 'forgiveness'. Or, they apply it generally and inappropriately. I think elephants are smart enough to remember exactly who has wronged them directly and never forgives those people. They are intelligent enough to make that distinction and recognize where one person is here to help or be friendly, compared to that asshole that whipped me when I was 12, 37 years ago is within trunk range and I'm gonna throttle the bastard...

    Do they ever get well , the ones that have tuberculosis ?

  • @ted1091
    @ted1091 9 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    It's wonderful, but it seems like the number of elephants is decreasing rather than increasing. I wish ES was more aggressive in trying to rescue elephants and bring them to Tennessee.

    • @kansasguest8372
      @kansasguest8372 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      +ted1091 TES depends on zoos & circuses being willing to give up their elephants, which is rare because they are considered financial assets to the families/companies/cities/counties that have purchased them. The ones that are still of breeding age are almost never handed over because they are moneymakers for zoos. The Nashville Zoo, an AZA-accredited facility, just announced 2 African elephants will be sent to TES by November 2015. So, times may be changing. Zoos like young elephants because their admission goes up with baby animals. Maybe the TES herds will grow as elephants age at other zoos & circuses, and need somewhere to go.

  • @ajrwilde14

    How wild are they with those barriers all over the place tho...

    • @mimishella4915
      @mimishella4915 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Those barriers are for directional and separation purposes only. They direct the elephants from the barns down to the pastures where the only fencing is around the outside perimeter. Needed or the elephants would go into private property or endanger themselves. The separation is important for African from Asian elephants. They naturally do not interact, and doing so would lead to fighting. Also, male from female are separated for the elephants to be able to live a more peaceful life. Bulls go into musth, and they become very aggressive. 2700 acres is over 4 sq. miles, so it is very large. For all intents and purposes free.

    Why would people want to lock these or any animals in a cage for. They belong in nature whether in places like this or in the wild.

    • @biscuitpocket7283
      @biscuitpocket7283 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly no wild animal deserves to be locked in a cage. It's sadly all about MONEY, profits people can make. Bears are captured & their baby's dragged away from them at a tender age. Most Mother bears are shot & the baby bear is taken & forced to live in a cramped cage so human tourists can take photos etc. Many are beaten to do tricks & dance to entertain also. Riding elephants seems to be all the trend with celebritys on holiday in Asian country's. The poor elephants are beaten into submission & hooks used to prod them. Worked to death in shifting logs in forestrys also. All types of wild animals have & are still being used by man in cruel ways. Some people are very sick & cruel where animals are concerned it would be such a wonderful world if animals didn't suffer & were allowed to be themselves & free. 🍪pocket (England)

    There is a so called "sanctuary" for elephants in Arkansas. All it is, is more elephants being controlled with bull hooks and don't live a free life. It's just another man making himself feel important being able to control something bigger than himself. These elephants live a sad existence and wish they was there with you.

      Just like Ringling's "Conservation" Camp here in Florida, they claim it's a sanctuary as well but really it's a puppy mill Breeding Farm and Concentration Prison Camp for Elephants. Still the same owners which are Ringling and Feld Entertainment, Same Trainers after their Circus Closed down and transferred to the Camp, Still on Chains and Concrete Floors, Forced Breeding *"aka RAPE and yes, they're getting away with Rape at the age of 14 or younger for the Elephants,"* Taking the baby away from the Elephant as soon it's born, Still using Training Equipment, Very Small Enclosures, Regular Beatings when no ordinary citizen, USDA agent and or Veterinary are around to see everything behind the scenes and hiding their electric shock devices and cleverly hiding their bullhooks *"Oh, my mistake, they call them GUIDES,"* while someone other than the worker is around, Training Elephants for Circus Stunts while blaring some rock music at max volume so that no one can hear the Elephant Screaming in pain, Still lying that the Elephants are in great condition, lying that the Elephants are used for Research purposes and or dancing and etc.

      Lisa is happy to be sane. You commented 1 year ago on a santuary for elephants in Arkansas that was treating their elephants badly. Controlled with bull hooks & living very sad lives etc... under controls of keepers & not living free lives. If you have evidence of this so called santuary mistreating these beautiful elephants could you Please, Please report your finding to the nessasary authority's. Please help if you can, let's stop the abuse & cruelty to these endangered magestic forgiving animals. Thank you 🍪pocket (England)

    Shirley broken leg breaks my heart! What kind of cruel so called " human" allows that kind of injury to NOT BE TREATED. I think Shirley has passed on now, God Bless this Sanctuary.😇🙏❤

    I attain great joy from seeing this... I have been an advocate for anti zoo's, anti circus and anti cruelty for the vast majority of my 58 years. I have travelled a lot and seen the horrors of human contact with animals... And when the visual memories of those horrors arise in my head at night I love coming here ....to your site. Seeing the simple, yet powerful actions of compassion and empathy and the beauty of caring (which is a challenging part of our humanity), makes me feel there is hope. I have in my life been lucky enough to witnessed an elephant charge, I have watched a mother Ele grieve the loss of her calf and also witnessed the horrors of humanity using animals for fake medicinal purposes and for share ...diabolical pleasure. A pox on all of those ppl lol. The airing of your vids helps however... . it does occasionally shake my faith in humanity, but I guess thats just me .....However, the respite you give to me, from the work you do with the sanctuary, for Ele's resonates with a sense of hope and conviction within me.... and I find that priceless...It also helps me sleep at night knowing we aren't "all" bad...thank you ... ;)

    They are just all soooo beautiful. We do not deserve these beauties. We don't deserve their forgiveness but hopefully we can try to earn that back steadily.

    Theyre truly are such sweet souls (based off whst ive seen online, ive never personally known an elephant, however it is a dream i have to go see em in their natural habitat in Africa❤🤞). Theyre one of the very few animals on our planet who deal with the exact same emotions humans deal with. It blows my mind when i imagine the MILLIONS of animals on Earth, n then wrangle the idea of only 4or5 us having the same feelings😳🤯thats pretty substantial if ya think about it. Prime mates, dogs n dolphins r the other select few who have r same emotions. Funny ehh? When ppl wanna explore or inspect another animal...its usuallyv1 of these listed. Most of us have dogs. Idk, but smh God did a pretty amazing job! Idt its coincidental that these animals r the ones we're drawn to, or are drawn to each other

    So, here's us freezin our asses off up here in Canada eh, and these funky 'phants are livin' large down there in Tennessee. I don't suppose they can get out on Derby Day but hell it looks like paradise to me. You go, girls! I love these characters. (Yeah, I know it's the Kentucky Derby but you sayin' a elephant couldn't walk over there from Tennessee? There's even one wearing a funny hat made of grass. They're into it I tell ya!)
