Wow.. sort of stereo..a 'reduction' from the three or four track. .... amazing to hear ... I was the privileged tape operator, with Alan McKenzies superb work as 'balance engineer' .. extraordinary ..
Beautiful Remaster Spam Man! I'm 72 and have loved this song since it came out. My Aunt Jeanie belonged to a record club back in those days and bought a number of lps (Beatles, Bee Gees, Kinks, Buckinghams, etc)for us to listen to, on her nice stereo console. I was the only one, and my younger brother who ever listened to them, so I ended up with them!) I grew up in Buffalo, NY and as a preteen, used to go to the Niagara River and railroad tracks to chill out, and just think and contemplate the thought running through my head. Just an amazing period for me.. This song always takes me back and reminds me of the simpler times, and the beautiful Summer sunsets in the warm/hot days of my mid teen years. It was Paradise for me. Brings tears to my eyes and resides on my Ipod today, however, I will add your great mix to the Ipod as well..! Thanks.
I heard that Iive at The Joint with Terry Reid singing this with Waddy Wachtel and Stan Lynch backing him.. Pico and Robertson.. L.A. ( 2001 ) Amazing ! And.. Oh yeah, this is absolutely brilliant ! 😊
Originally Ray wanted to call it Liverpool Sunset, he loved Liverpool and the Merseybeat. But he write about what you know. He knew London better than Liverpool so changed it. But soon enough the idea of reflecting on his own childhood in and around south London made more sense.
Je me demande s'il n'y a pas aussi une version avec 2 guitares acoustiques et une avec un mélange des deux. Je ne connaissais pas de version avec un piano.
What a song! It has some nice, calm atmosphere. Just relax, chill, watching the rush of the city...
Listening to Waterloo Sunset makes me feel at home with a heart full of love and beautiful memories .. "I Am In Paradise"

First heard this sailing up the Thames on a rusty old cargo boat, into London docks in 1967 as a 16 year old galley boy. A different world back then.
Greatest ballad ever. I have listened to this hundreds of times since it first came out. It never gets old.
It has the greatest intro to any rock record in history. That intro guitar riff just awesome xxxx
Still sounds great after all these years. Thanks Lads. England, October, 2023.

Hi Brenda! I just turned 69 and live in Southern California. I was lucky enough to see them in San Diego in 1976. I absolutely ADORE the Kinks.
@edenb7860 lovely to hear from you from england god bless you x
For me this song encapsulates the late 60s early 70s, having lived in London at the time, and yes Waterloo sunsets are fine
sweet song special
Bloody love this son!
3 minutes of magic
This should be England's national anthem.
Chrissie Hynde performed this for the Kinks induction into the British R & R hall of fame. Another great version of this great Kinks song.

This is one remake that really does sound different from the original. I like it, though. Like them both.
Je me demande s'il n'y a pas aussi une version avec 2 guitares acoustiques et une avec un mélange des deux.
Je ne connaissais pas de version avec un piano.
This can not be a remake. they added piano but thats it i think
They sing of a UK when it was British...
True true.
Is the west lost? Every morning I wake up I believe it to be true. Can we fight it? Where's my bottle?
JohnSmith -
Last I checked the UK is still British.
Saw. Them. In. Lincoln. In. The. 60ths
Not wrong 😢
Do you mean when Polish and French pilots, amongst others, were giving their lives in the Battle of Britain? You should be ashamed.
