I bought this this morning - just about to start using it after a lunch break. Went to watch you when I ate, and it’s the same product on the telly! Love a coincidence
Good stuff. Like liquid boot polish. The 2nd coat makes the difference. Probably best to mask off, and use gloves. Be prepared to throw away applicator. It’s quite cheap for what it does. Still going strong on my car 3 weeks later. Doesn’t seem to fall off like others products. It’s like black paint for plastic.
With my older age and back problems, putting one coat of a trim restorer onto a car is enough work for me. Applying two layers of anything is pretty much out of the question. Thanks for the video Jon.
Just bought a bottle and used it for the first time on the trim of my MSRT Ford Ranger. I used just one coat and after application as per the instructions I knew that the product was doing as it claimed. I could see the results immediately. I suspect that the Graphine content is to get into the nanoscale structure of the trim to form a better adherence. I’m happy with it and I agree, the bottle will last you for years.
This stuff is fantastic. Scrub your plastic first with a cleaner and a scuff pad. Wear gloves, This stuff will stick to your skin. Use a small brush to apply and to get into the nooks and crannies. While still wet, finish with a foam applicator to blend and smooth out. keep a damp rag handy to whip off any mistakes on the paint. I applied this to my car over a year ago and it still looks new.
I used the Turtle wax non hybrid stuff, comes out like a cream, goes on easy does not discolor anything and after a month it still looks new and beads water. It is not very expensive.
I have used D3 before. I just started using the turtle wax trim. Yes it’s usually 2 coats. So far very good, but only 2 months experience. I would be very interested in longterm side by side comparison. Thank you
It's lasting two months so far on a scuttle panel on a Hyundai, it's not quite black but more of a very dark grey. It won't harm paint but don't let it dry on it otherwise it can be quite difficult to get off.
If you’ve got a garage I can’t see why you wouldn’t use Gtechniq C4. It’s a permanent restorer, so no worrying about durability. Only downside is that it needs to cure indoors
Recently got this, it's good on textured plastic but on the the smoother stuff not quite got the hang of getting an even finish, I see other reviews mention this so maybe the product not technique
I use revolution from EZ. But found Owatrol polytrol colour restorer...Applied with small brush and wiped over with cloth, results are awesome and after the 4th wash its still good.
Here in the States, there are two trim restorers that are "King of the Hill". One is Cerakote and the other Malco Revive Nu. With many detailers doing their own tests, these two seem to work the best and longest. I really like the TW Hybrid Solutions products, however, they are NOT getting great reviews with this product. Unfortunately, Cerakote is not practical in a business, financially, but Malco is.
@jamesb8619 No, seems to resist quite well. My car is parked outside and washed quite often. After 4 months it still seems quite good, maybe starting to degrade a little bit but I'm impressed overall...
Great product that requires patience in my opinion. Best applied with an angled foam brush (pennies from aliexpress for a bag of them). Forms a layer of sorts, requires prep for best results. Top with a sio2 sealant for extra beads. Gloves and wet microfibre to hand if you touch an area you don’t want black!
I use the sonax plastic kunstoff "paint", it requires application with tape lines, gets messy, but it stays for a long time. Use it on the notorious volvo P2 trim.
Bought the product as of today. How do you clean the brush (or other equipment used together with the product) after use? Just tried a tiny bit and it feels like it contains a lot of “paint”. I don’t want to waste too much of equipment as a result of it getting dirty 😅
Hi Jon, hope you’re well mate. I’ve just bought a sapphire black m140i so I’ll be doing a full paint correction. What pads and polish would you recommend the BMWs harder paint?
@@ForensicDetailing thanks Jon. Really looking forward to picking it up and getting the paint perfect. Will be following it up with a Gyeon ceramic coating
reminds me of inkjet printer ink its basically pigment (microscopic particles) in a solution and is so fine it penetrates into the pores. Get that stuff on your skin and you have a temporary tattoo :D
You won't see if it bleeds, I used a lot of trim restorers, they either fade to nothing or leave black streaks when it rains down the bodywork, only time will tell.
I had some polish for weeks that I couldn't get off the top of my front plate holder thingy. The only thing that got it off was polish lol.. What would you have used?
Magic eraser. A local detailer told me to clean the trim then incredibly gently rub the eraser in the mark about 10 times. Was amazed at how well it worked. Solution 2 is Autoglym tyre gel which does last about 4ish months before reapplying. But the eraser appears the permanent solution.
@@ForensicDetailing that’s brilliant, I do have a DA machine, I was inspired to have a go myself after watching your videos, had some good results. Thank you for the reply. 👍👍👍
I didn't like working with this product. It doesn't seem to absorb, doesn't self level leaving wipe marks. I was peeling it off my glove. Looks like plastiDip. I doubt it absorbs
Tried it. Made a big mess and didn't coat evenly. I use almost exclusively TW products. This stuff is garbage in my opinion. Their clear trim restorer is much better.
Would no recommend this product I have a vauxhall mokka lots of black plastic this turtle wax was a complete nightmare it's more of a dye then a restoration.. I did exactly what it says on the bottle but it was terrible I have now gone back to my original auto gylm bumper and plastic restoration I put the turtle 🐢 wax in the binn

So many people get caught up on sponsored videos or if you bought it I like your opinion regardless how youv come to owning it :) nice vid John

Yeah. Something like a si02 sealant or ceramic coat probably better for the smooth stuff!
Same. Couldn't get an even finish free of wipe marks.
I use revolution from EZ. But found Owatrol polytrol colour restorer...Applied with small brush and wiped over with cloth, results are awesome and after the 4th wash its still good.
I do like a bit of Solution Finish, just remember to put the cap back on when going around the car. My little bottle went byebye 🤦🏻♂️

Applied some to my car about a month back, still holding up. Will be interesting to see how long it lasts.
Is it still going?
@@carsgonewrong746 Still seems good...
@@salmon2778does it wash away when it rains or during car wash?

I use a sponge paint brush with the wedge point , it’s a very good product and lasts a long time, 😉
This is really good if applied correctly. I messed up first time and left streaks took so long to come off
I use the sonax plastic kunstoff "paint", it requires application with tape lines, gets messy, but it stays for a long time. Use it on the notorious volvo P2 trim.
I’ve used it on my car and motorcycle and it works well. On small bits I apply it with a brush and then rub it around.

If it gets on paintwork, a damp cloth, or IPA easily removes it.
Also prep the area to be treated before application.
Simply follow the instructions.
Be interesting to see how long this lasts, funnily enough I’ve recently ordered a bottle based on another review that rated it highly.
Was alright for me. Tricky to get an even finish though and messy. Got it 20% off so can't complain.
Hi Jon, hope you’re well mate. I’ve just bought a sapphire black m140i so I’ll be doing a full paint correction. What pads and polish would you recommend the BMWs harder paint?
hard to say mate without seeing it but Scholl20 Black on a flex purple or orange pad will work mate.

Tried to use this turtle wax stuff a few times now and never feel satisfied with the results even after 2 coats
Really? Night and day difference for me!
Same. The finish isn't great no matter how many coats. Wipe marks throughout.
You won't see if it bleeds, I used a lot of trim restorers, they either fade to nothing or leave black streaks when it rains down the bodywork, only time will tell.
It does not streak. Only tar remover seems to budge it!
Can it only be added to black trim? I'd like to protect my plastic mower shell which is black and green.
Any black plastic trim in mower should be ok m8. It will stain black

Magic eraser is good for getting polish residue off trim, with a decent APC.

So after time and rain will it run ?…. Yeah I have a white car with black trim 😊
it wont run mate no it sets.
Nah, later up enough of it and it ends up like plastiDip
What’s the best 2 in 1 polish and wax, been trawling TH-cam but couldn’t get a decent answer.
Fir machine application rupes advanced. 3d speed is nice too. By hand maybe af triple

"Get a big plastic panel and test them all" - enter Scott HD. 😃
How to you clean chrome trims and chrome splitters?
real chrome is metal polish. plastic chrome just a like buff with a glaze or something.
Popular for charabanc. ✌🏻👍🏻🇬🇧
I don’t see the point in these £4.99 for Mr fix ceramic coat and it works fantastic on plastic. Had in on for 18 months before it needed redoing.
😮
Cerakote done deal

Just use WD40 on faded trim
Good lord, Mark.
Next, you’ll be telling the kids to use lemon Pledge to shine their tyres!
👍🏻
dont try and put this over half worn-off solution finish it foes like water over oil 4 coats and still spotty
