Best Tesla Model Y floor mats from Tuxmat review

- This Tesla Model Y floor mat review will compare the Tuxmat floor mats against 3d Maxspider, Tesmanian, and Autailors to show why I ultimately feel Tuxmat is the best floor mat for your Tesla and why that is the one I bought for my car.
In the review I test the Tuxmat interior cabin mats and cargo mat for fit, style, and water and ice coverage. The high walls on the Tuxmat floor mat should work really well containing snow melt or mud.
I think Tesmanian and Weathertech would also be good options if you are looking for more of a basic plastic-looking floor mat, but I wanted to go for something a bit more stylish for floor and cargo liners in your Tesla.
3d Maxspider would be the closest equivalent to the look I wanted, but the huge 3d logo cheapened it for me.
Last, Autailors didn't seem like a good match for the car to me, at least in pictures, and it reminded me too much of PVC pool patio furniture stitching from the 80s.
I spent probably way too much time researching while waiting for my Tesla to be delivered so I wanted to make this video to help share the knowledge with others going down the same road. I'm really impressed with the quality of the Tuxmat and it is probably the second favorite accessory I bought for the car next to the bike mount.

have the 3d Maxpider for my 3 and they're good but wife saw these on her coworker's car so it caught her attention because of the high coverage on the sides. Thanks for sharing this. I think we'll get a set and just sell our other mats.
thank you so much for this review!!! i just received my tux mats for my tesla model Y and they look so perfect. They were out of stock for months and i’m so happy with my mats! these are by far the best mats they look expensive and modern not like other mats that look cheap and plastic.

Seriously though! No need to have huge branding like that. Trick is to make it look stock but elevated.

Great video, answered most of my questions, and I love the look of them in my wife's car - I am leaning toward these for my Model Y. I have a question, doe the back seat mats cover the vents under the front seats? I am assuming not, but just wanted to check.

Great review. I'm waiting for my Tuxmats to arrive. I've not purchased the Trunk/Frunk ones yet and debating on those. do we need to remove the existing Mats Tesla gave or we can put on top of the existing ones. can you please let me know
I took the Tesla mats out before putting in the Tuxmats. Theoretically I could see it laying over the top, but it may throw off the height a little bit or make a lump to some degree.

I had actually bought one for my Chevy Bolt EUV. Unfortunately, I never received the car…….it was on order for almost six months. Canceled the order and bought a MODEL Y. I’m so glad I switched!
Great mats, great quality, no one comes close to the coverage these mats provide. My only complaint is the smell. It’s a powerful rubber smell, even after airing them out for 2 days prior to installation.
I didn’t get any smell on mine but maybe my nose isn’t as good
What about the liner that against the back seat? When you fold the back seat flat is it still in the up position like right now?
It stays up with the seat backs down though it has enough play that if you need to lay something flat it is still possible to do so

Yes just make sure you have it seated into the seat back corners all the way in
I’m having a little issue with the driver and passenger mats - the part that extends to the area below where the seat controls are - I’m trying to see in your video , and maybe noticed you tucked them in? Did you clip them in anyway? Mine seem to be up against the plastic part of the seat and rub when the seat goes forwards/backwards. Any tips?
I have the a velcro clip on the end edge of that long flap that covers that side of the seat. The lower edge I have formed into the bottom crease and the top I have tucked into the top crevice between the seat mount and seat. I uploaded an image because its hard to describe imgur.com/J1BmTvF
How much of a pain is it to remove and replace the mats for cleaning with all those clips in place? Seems like that could be extra annoying effort but might be worth it. I agree with your assessment of other mats and was looking for better option. This seems like it!
Good question! I haven’t had to take the mats out to clean them. I’ve only had to shop vac them and damp cloth wipe down to wipe off any mud or dust beyond that. For the trunk mat I’ve taken that out a few times to hose it down after hauling sandy or muddy things and that’s been easy.

How do they install in the back seat? Do they tuck into the back seat or do they just go up over?
They tuck under the seat. It’s a clean fit.
How slippery are these mats? Also, what happens if an interior detailer is sprayed on them? Thanks
Hi Robert, they are pretty grippy it’s kind of like a rubberized texture…so for example things don’t slide around on the trunk mat. I’ve only cleaned them with water so far. Detailer would probably be overdoing it.
Question is, when you fold down the back seats for larger cargo, what happens over time with the lip. Seems like it will get wonky pretty early on…
I tried it out tonight and ya the lip doesn’t want to fold down flat backward if you want to lay something with the seat back flat. You could fold it forward though.
Has the cargo liner bump went away?
Yes! It flattened out the next day after I unloaded the trunk from a trip to the Lowe's garden center to get some mulch and soil bags.
seems pretty thick. do they help with road noise at all?

How are your mats doing now?
Really well, this past weekend I went to a plant nursery and brought home a bunch of plants in muddy pots and simply removed the trunk mat, sprayed it down with a hose, dried it off, and put it back. Then yesterday, my kid got a new water bottle he didn't lock the lid for which spilled all over the back mat on the way to school. The ridged baffles kept the water from spreading when stopping for traffic and making turns. Everything stayed confined to the mats and I just wiped it up with a towel when I got back home vs trying to dry out the interior carpet.

I bought some weather-tech mats, they made the car smell like a trash bag, I put up with it, expecting the rubber/plastic smell to go away, after 4 months I got rod of them :/
