gotta say that i always get excited when i see a new tom video on my feed. its always great to see how much history my city has. and as a fellow urban explorer , its always fun for me to go to these places and see for myself. once again thank you. and a suggestion you should go and see the Ranchos Los Amigos abandoned hospital. there are a few buildings , its easy to get into just watch out for the cops when jumping the fence. after that you guys should be good the buildings should cover you. its best to go on Sunday if you need any more info on in let me know.
ChrisFreeRunning I did a bunch of photoshoots at Rancho Los Amigos back in the day before they fenced everything up. They use to have the fence open and you can walk right in. And Yes Sunday was the best time to go. Last time I went back they had security driving around it. I want to go back because there is Soo Much to explore there, its unbelievable.
This is one of my favorite episodes. We love you Tom. You have an ability to render a time period with such vivacity. Thanks for offering a transcendental experience!
Hi. I started boxing at 14 at the LAYAC (The Old Jail). That ring you just saw was were I fought my ass off. I won my first amateur fight there. No one was going to beat me that day. I sparred countless times in that ring. Going up to the 5th florr everyday was crazy, I would take the stairs mostly. The elevator was always a risk. A trainer plunged to his death once. The elevator never showed up. Great times.
Another really nice video guys. You're showing a history and face of L.A. most don't see and certainly not in any tourist brochures. People must really be into tagging round L.A. though, because that spray paint was way OTT and erased so much history. A real shame, and in that respect it's a good thing the place was re-sealed. Keep the videos coming!
Tom, you have to keep making videos like this about the real face and history of LA. Fuckin brilliant! I adore all your films, so please keep em coming!! So good if you love LA. Keep up the good work Tom and his fabulous team.
There's more to the jail... developers have wanted to convert it into something useful for years (residential, commercial, mixed-use, etc.) but it's REALLY polluted with oils and other industrial chemicals. All slowly seeping into the LA river, and hence into the ocean. Someone has to pay for the cleanup before developing, so right now it's a stalemate between the city and would-be developers as to who will foot the bill. Which will cost millions and millions, btw.
I'm glad I got into the old Georgia Street LAPD station, back in the 80s, right before they tore it down. It was located where the Staples Center property is now.
Beautiful video as always, but I feel like you weren't there very long or that we weren't able to see much of the prison before you guys felt like you needed to try to find a way out of there (understandably so, but I wish we could have seen more). Thanks for what you were able to get!
I want to say that this video is 100% true. The part where they got sealed in did happen as I was there as well. I was the one who put that bar across the door so no one would enter. My friend and I also got sealed in. I was the one who put the bar across the door where they couldn't get out
Is the Lincoln Heights jail area safe to visit / take photos? I'm too much of a pussy to go inside, just wanted photos of the outside and surrounding buildings, wasn't sure if homeless or people hang around that area

But to be honest with you that was a real video they did get sealed in. So did I and some white Bitch I use to tuck her name was Annie Wrate. from Highland Park. I was fucking her inside when we got sealed in
Salvador Cabezas did you find a way in? I was there this past Sunday and seen a security guard posted up inside the gate. So we walked around the back in the train yard and still couldn't find a way in.
What if there was an "art wall" constructed just for the tag artists? Their art is good, but it's actually vandalism. No one ever gets to see their great works, hidden away in rotting places. Why do they waste their talents in places like that? I have often enjoyed the street art in our town, it is confined to a space where they have permission, mainly, behind an old theater that is used for concerts and youth recreation. Good video. Very cool to escape the jail. had to sub you, as I was born in Los Angeles, but never lived there. I bet my dad was in that jail a few times. haha
Leisa Irwin I literally had that idea when I was younger. definitely seems like something that could be beneficial to the cultural essence of los angeles and even other cities.

Love your stuff Tom. One of my fav TH-camrs Casey Neistat has mentioned a few times in his Vlogs he has talked about moving to LA. I would love to see what kinda videos he makes here prob of the same quality as yours Toms.
If you didn't know? Making me feel like an ol timer, damn. The boxing images= it used to be a boxing gym Real deal boxers with dreams, heart Boxers Before the BS politics/organized crap. Bouts Monday night's
Is it just me or is your voice more montone and drony than it was in the first season? I love the show but it's a lot better when you sound interested in what you're talking about like in the old LA zoo or LA's steepest street episode.
I'm stoked that you do the legwork to produce a story, and communicate something of value. It's refreshing.

Leisa Irwin Just consider this; the legal tagging that looks good, is probably a result of illegal practicing.
Jon Bartolo
I can agree with that.
Leisa Irwin I literally had that idea when I was younger. definitely seems like something that could be beneficial to the cultural essence of los angeles and even other cities.

Tom, I love your videos, but there is no such thing as "Art Deco" architecture. The building is Streamline Moderne.
