    Thank you Mr Stephenson - your step by step videos are extremely helpful. Is it possible to back date a baseline please? I have started as PM on projects that have not had the MS Project baseline established at the beginning.

    Fantastic tutorials, thank you! Only issue I have is using the resource pool to create a look ahead for the team as there doesn't seem to be a way to export the data displayed into an excel format?

    Great info. I have a Shared Resource Pool and its great. But how do I change the working hours for one of these resources in a particular project without changing my pool?

    • @TomStephensontraining
      @TomStephensontraining  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes thats the problem you have to create a separate calendar and apply it to the tasks which has its own pitfalls

    Hi, thanks for the video, is there a possible to link resources between 2 sub-projects? for example, one of the tasks in the second project should be start only when a task is finished from the first project (because its the same resource)

    • @TomStephensontraining
      @TomStephensontraining  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Nir, Try it, use a Master Project file and try the link in that file and test the implications. Maybe create 3 project files with 3 or 4 tasks and see how it behaves.

    Your videos a really well done and extremely useful. Thank you so much. I was wondering on this one; once you created the "Resource Pool" file and added the resources, why did you do a File- Save As to create the Master Project File? Wasn't that redundant? Could you have added the subprojects to the task list of the "Resource Pool" file? Is there a reason for having those as separate files? Thank you in advance for your help and assistance.

      Thanks for the kind words. You could have done it as you mentioned, as I usually keep a pool separate from my master project file as i often have projects that i never put in the master project file and to avoid confusion in my head I just keep the resource pool. Just my preference.

      The resource pool should be a project file without any task in it. It only contains the resource data. If you are making a resource pool from a master project, then you will have to do save as on the master project to keep a copy of the Master project and name it as a "resource pool". You would then go into the saved copy of the master project and delete all the tasks, and you can use that as a resource pool for the project that can be shared with other subproject projects

    Hi Tom
    When I try to link the sub-project to the Resource Pool the Share Resources dialog box has the Use Resources option greyed out. Have you any idea what the issue please?

  • @Regalia31
    @Regalia31 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I like putting the master as read only links so people see what is going on at any given time, but only I open and alter the individual ones. I had it all in one file and it started to get a bit cumbersome and too busy.

    Hi Tom, very nice tutorial videos you have prepared. Its very useful.
    I have 4 queries.
    1. Can we prepare one single project file as master file & resource file?
    2. In any of the abpve case when I share resource in subproject, following error message appears while saving & it cant be saved. "There is a problem with the calendar name. Tf he colendar name does not exist. Click a calendar in the list. & press enter."
    What could be the reason?
    3. In master file, in project tab, in change working time, For calender all calendeds with all projects appear. Is it normal? Or any problem?
    4. When I share resource pool file, in all project files on above path list of calenders with resource name appears. Is it normal? Or any problem ?

    Why not having the resource pool in the master sheet?
