The only good bit of the Ubisoft conference for me was Watch Dogs, and that's weird to say that

bahroo repeats what someone on the panel said as his own thought, mad annoying
Who cares
If you could recruit the last boss of Watch_Dogs Legion and they just turn over the keys to the kingdom when you roll up, it would be the single greatest feat in emergent gamplay design ... ever. You could literally play how ever you want. Even if you couldn't "recruit them" but form a temporary alliance with them against other factions and be mysteriously "in good standing" with a faction, that would be staggering.

Is politics a selling point for this company? It totally turns me off. Like, after the first 30 minutes, I feel like never buying a game from this company.

That's been literally all of their games. Art is political so I dont know why people are now choosing to whine about it. It's fine if maybe you dont agree with the message, just say that. Dont play the "I dont want politics in muh games" schtick because it's not fooling anybody.
@@dren5810 propogandistic art is political --- real art comes from a deeper place. People are rightfully whining about the politicization of everything, because political ideology is a low resolution lense to view the world through, and tends to degrade and destroy whatever deeper, more nuanced lenses it replaces.
Politics is a means to ameliorate dispute among people with differing goals and values. It's necessary, but there's no reason it should inundate our daily lives, let alone our art.
@@chrisc7265 this is bogus, there is no such thing as "real art" it just is. Peoples politics color and influence everything they do to varying degrees. I'm sure your politics is exactly why you're so averse to anything incorporating such topics. Whether its propaganda is all subjective and yet to be proven. However, to write something off because you simply may not agree with its message is fine, just say that. Dont make this claim of "politics in games is bad" when it indeed pervades everything already.

most people have an engagement and love for something, be it art, humanity, religion, science, and so on, such that they can intuitively feel the ineptitude and decaying effect of viewing reality through a political lense
the man who sees politics in everything is incapable of appreciating this because to go beneath the low resolution worldview inherent in propaganda is to shatter its illusion, a discomfort best avoided
