I'm getting ready to do this on my square back. Nice video. Your mistakes are helpful. I make them all the time. But it's how we learn. I hope your S Beetle is running and shifting well.
What you have there is a quick shifter. It’s not necessary but it makes the shifts shorter. You have to have the shifter plate plate first so you still have reverse lock out until pressing down. Then you have the quick shifter plate sit on top then. Your shifter. Hopefully this helps you out and anyone els.
Oh wow that makes alot more sense! Not sure why it was reversed. I just bought a new trigger shifter and havent installed it yet, but will test out what you mentioned for my own information. Thank you!!
How is your bug shifting? I was watching your video and it looks like the plate under your shifter is on backwards ... The plate has a long ramp on one side and a short one on the other side... The long ramp goes on the passenger side of the car.. You also had another plate that comes with other performance shifters that isn't supposed to be there... It will cause you all sorts of problems with reverse... There is a guy on TH-cam called Slades vw... check out his video on this same topic and compare his to your installation.. Hope you get everything worked out.. Take care and God Bless...
Thank you for your comment! I wondered about the reverse lockout plate being backwards. I’ve watched so many videos of people working on their shifters and I’ve seen it both ways so I just reinstalled it the way it came off. As for the other plate on there, I’ll remove it. I’ll also see if I can add text to the video as a correction/retraction. Thanks for your help, dude!

Thanks, homie. That's why we show and point out the mistakes. I'll eff it up on video so you don't have to. lol Yes, the ol girl shifts like a dream.
A lot of sets don't come with an 11mm. It's because they expect you to use 7/16. They are almost exactly the same.

The line to the right of the coupler, is that the original fuel line?
If you and I are looking at the same metal line, that's supposed to be the brake line.
