    I thought of doing my own orchestration of part of Tchaikovsky's 'Swan Lake' but by the time I needed to do this i already had this little melody which I thought would suit parts of this movie. So i decided not to touch the 'Swan Lake' for now atleast.
    About the movie.
    The Story:
    (As taken from Apple trailers)
    BLACK SWAN follows the story of Nina (Portman), a ballerina in a New York City ballet company whose life, like all those in her profession, is completely consumed with dance. She lives with her retired ballerina mother Erica (Barbara Hershey) who zealously supports her daughter's professional ambition. When artistic director Thomas Leroy (Vincent Cassel) decides to replace prima ballerina Beth MacIntyre (Winona Ryder) for the opening production of their new season, Swan Lake, Nina is his first choice. But Nina has competition: a new dancer, Lily (Kunis), who impresses Leroy as well. Swan Lake requires a dancer who can play both the White Swan with innocence and grace, and the Black Swan, who represents guile and sensuality. Nina fits the White Swan role perfectly but Lily is the personification of the Black Swan. As the two young dancers expand their rivalry into a twisted friendship, Nina begins to get more in touch with her dark side with a recklessness that threatens to destroy her.
    The Set Up:
    (As taken from Wikipedia)
    Black Swan is a 2010 American psychological thriller directed by Darren Aronofsky. The film stars Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis as ballet dancers in a New York City production of Swan Lake. The production requires a ballerina to play both the innocent White Swan and the sensual Black Swan. Nina (Portman) fits for the White Swan and Lily (Kunis) fits for the Black Swan. When the two compete for the parts, Nina finds a dark side of herself.
    Aronofsky conceived the premise by connecting his viewings of Swan Lake with an unrealized screenplay about understudies and the notion of being haunted by a double. The director also considered Black Swan a companion piece to his previous film The Wrestler, with both films' worlds involving demanding performances for different kinds of art. He and Portman first discussed the project in 2000, and after a brief attachment to Universal Pictures, Black Swan was produced in New York City in 2009 under Fox Searchlight Pictures. Portman and Kunis trained in ballet for months. Notable figures from the ballet world helped with film production to shape the ballet presentation. The film premiered as the opening film for the 67th Venice International Film Festival on September 1. 2010. The film will have a limited release on December 1, 2010.

    @Raccoonwarrior12 I agree one hundred percent...Lady GAG is a cell phone and the world fell into something that is easy to like...this is true music true inspiration and something that individuals can fall into and dream...enhance ones true inner beings. Who is lady GAG anyway? I don't think people know. Gays love her like Brittney b/c they are just as insecure as they are with the cover of being confident. It is not a true confidence but an act. This is true music.

    @DescoRAWR Unfortunately most people cant afford to do what they like, specially when its something similar to ballet where there's no money in it as a future.. Most people say money cant buy happiness but they fail to realize without financial security we dont get the opportunity to enjoy freedom..

    I'm in 8th grade, and my favourite movie is Black Swan. People are always telling me "It didn't make since" "Was she crazy or something?" and worst "What's with all the crappy music?".... Some people don't appreciate fine works of art.

    Don't let what other kids say about ballet bring you down! After a few years they will envy you. My younger sister has been dancing ballet since she was 4 years old and now she is graduating(17 years old) and moving to another country in Europe to study more dancing(we already live in Europe) long before all the other kids finish their Matriculation examination.

    shows how a friendship can change thoughout the years. Plus Robert de Niro is a great, great actor. My second favourite right after Tom Hanks and before Natalie Portman. And i hope you don't make the mistake by confusing The Green Mile with 8 Mile just like my classmates. I love those three movies. (Also love The Usual Suspects, Matrix and Kill Bill - all for their perfectness in every way.)

    I don't get the point. These movies just work with their soundtrack, directing and acting. VFV and TGM have two of the best scenes in cinema history: Evey at the rooftop and Del's execution. They also have extremely good messages in it. But i especially like them cineastically. OUATIA is a great movie for its soundtrack and the ability of not being boring though being 4 hours (other movies were boring and lengthy without even being over 2 hours long, f.e. Stealth), and it

    @Supergibb That's superfluous. She wasn't just "crazy". It was a mixture, between OCD and psychosis. I say that based on what psychiatrists said, I'm not one myself, but I trust someone's professional point of view, and I completely agreed. That's what makes this movie wonderful, specially for people that love art, psychology, thrillers, metaphors, it's just...everything I wished for in a movie, I know a lot of people felt that way too.

  • @girlsnextdoorkendra
    @girlsnextdoorkendra 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @13pangea I know this comment is from 5 months ago, but seriously... Why do you think that the sex displayed in this movie was for "horny sex addicts"? It didn't have nudity. It was all simulation. I'm a 17 year old girl, you don't need to be a "horny sex addict" to find that scene beautiful. It wasn't just "hot", it was erotic, but at the same time, artistic. It's such an important scene, the black swan taking over Nina, it was important for it to be shown. Black Swan: 10/10 ...

    I enjoy alternative films more than commercial ones, when I watched Black Swan trailer I thought it called my attention, it seemed to be an interesting film::: then I saw it:: the photoraphy was great, the scenes, the performances are awezome, Nalie acts very well... But, I didn't like it at all, I think the drama is so simple I think they could have done more with this story....But I enjoy the soundtrack

    @liotie Are you kidding me kid ? Look, i was too generous in talking about this movie with you.Trust me! Incomprehensible is a from of saying that it isnt totally intelligible.I understood the plot but not entirely,because it was impossible to do so.Requiem for a Dream is ten times better than this movie,one of the reasons why it´s because makes sense and it´s a constructive experience.Black Swan is like DuChamp: You pick a bunch of crap,put together all that junk and call it art ! >:O

  • @liotie
    @liotie 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @MagnumBullets47 First the plot is not incomprehensible at all if you cant understand its because you didnt wanted to think while listening to the movie because I was thinking during all the movie and I understand it pretty damn well. Ive seen alot of suspense movie and this one kill them all. You may think it look amateur but saying that prove that you have no knowledge of movie making and different psychological effect of each scene. Now go back to watch transformer and GTFO.

  • @MagnumBullets47
    @MagnumBullets47 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @liotie No,IT´S NOT !! The soundtrack it´s good , i have to admit, but the movie is very very weak.The plot is incomprehensible(you dont know what is real and what is not)and it´s result of an amateurish direction for the genre of suspense.Darren is not properly prepared to direct these kind of movies.
    The "holes" in the narrative are the main problem,the second it´s frustation.The REAL Black Swan just appears in 5 minutes in the WHOLE movie. X (

    @justinbieber1716 Well, I'm 14. I had to watch the movie on the web cause my mom wouldn't allow me to go to the movies or buy the DVD. I kinda got confused in some parts and didn't get them very well, but the movie is not bad. It's about Nina (the main character) wishing so much to have both black and white swan and stop being judged like an innocent childish girl, that she starts going crazy and having schizophrenic attacks. At the end, she kills herself. An older friend had to explain me :P

  • @LongIslandLongIsland
    @LongIslandLongIsland 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    I know people say that Social Network director David Fincher was snubbed by King's Speech director Tom Hooper, but I truly think Darren Aronofsky was the one who truly deserved the Oscar for best direction. His close-up shots, unsettling camera work, and point-of-view shots in the movie were perfect in making the audience not only see, but feel Nina's paranoia throughout the movie.

  • @vversusv1364
    @vversusv1364 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @NFLVidz
    I disagree. Don't get me wrong, the movie had amazing potential, but I felt it patronized the audience by making what was happening to Nina overly obvious. I also thought the CGI, horror elements and some of "scary" sound effects were distracting from the tragedy of what was happening. I would begin to get sucked into Nina's desperate attempt at perfection when some corny, creepy laughter would break the spell. Basically the film seemed mainstream-ised to me.

    @13pangea- I couldn't agree more with you. I love all the creepy hallucinations and action, but the sex in this movie (and in many others) is immoral and uncalled for. I'd love this movie and recommend it to people if it wasn't for that. (but I do like the soundtrack.)

    @Raccoonwarrior12 I whole heartedly agree with the bieber statements, but I can't quite agree with putting gaga in that group. Sure shes pop and all but she pours her heart into her own style of music. Bieber has people write it all for him and set it all up, he just goes and sings and smiles.

    @Raccoonwarrior12 While that's true that Vitaliy barely gets attention, it's mostly because he is in a class of his own. Gaga and Beiber are in the pop, dance and rock & roll world. I don't understand people when they mention these people and compare them to artists like Vitaliy. That's so irrelevant.
