- Today your learning How To do a Rc Diff Rebuild and full disassembly of the Rear Rc Axles at the same time doing a maintenance check on the Spider Rc Gears inside the Rc Car differential
before we are going to assembly and waterproof the rear axle of the Feiyue fy03 eagle 3 Rc Desert Truck that is a Comm'n upgrade part for the wltoys 12428 fast Rc Rock Crawler
that is so fast in... breaking the plastic Rear differential spider gears that it needs

I recommend to any one that buy a new Rc Car from China to do a maintenance check on the front and rear diff Spider Gears they can be rough on the edge you like to make them round and smooth using sandpaper
Also, the Factory Rc diff grease is very cheap and low quality that needs to be replaced with high-quality grease or oil to make sure it runs smooth and keeps running smoothly for a very long time!
Disassembly of the Axles/Diff Case
To open up the differential you have to remove it from the chassis by loosening 4 bolts that hold the transmission case to the rear end
Next, remove the 4 screws on top of the case that hold the wing mounts to the rear shock tower, now we need to remove the last 4 screw that keeps the two halves transmission cases together
Now we need to remove the wheel nut and Hexagon to get to the first bearing and bearing case on each end that you slide off
Your able to open up the rear transmission case and have the diff isolated we can start the disassembly of it
Make sure your area is clean and use a white towel so you won't lose and ridicules small parts, on to the right side of the diff, and unscrew the 3 bolts
Open the diff and Clean all of the parts while cleaning everything do a maintenance check on the diff gears for unfinished quality check + wear and tear
Make sure all the gears teeth are smooth and all the parts a clean before we start re-building the Diff
Now we apply a lot of grease inside the plastic diff case and insert the left Axle and more grease on top and build up the spider gears make sure the gears are sitting correct and add the washers on the ends of the 3 axles grease it up and place it into the diff and use some more grease on top
It's time to add some grease on the crone gear under the need the left axle nail head gear shaft and some grease on top again before you connect the two halve's and line up the 3 long screws whit the thread and tighten them up but don't over-tighten compressing the gears
We reassemble the rear transmission by reversing the steps you took in the disassembly
With the Rc car back together we can set the differential but you need to tighten your slipper clutch to the maximum
Hold the right wheel and try to turn the left wheel
you should not be able to move the wheel, if you can move the wheel your diff is slipping, tighten your diff Case about a quarter turn each step to get it as tight as it can be without binding
My last Tip:
when it's time to rebuild the Rear differential and axles make sure to fill up the transmission case with grease to prevent from water coming into the bearings and diff

You don't have Pay extra it's still the same old price!
It just helps to pay for the channel bills... Thank you for your support
Thank you for the series! I just got mine 12428 and it does not sound right out of the box - so I will do this later today. I am sure it will help a lot!
hack ye hope you can fix it before you destroy the gears but he you can always lock the diff with jb weld and keep using it
@@HowToDIYRc Yeah, fixed it well in time. The noise was not from the diffs. Even after I reassembled both of them it was here - I put a little bit of plastic safe lube to the T-bones and it helped.
I have to say that only trouble was not enough grease on gears. No metal pieces, etc. in my car.
Just I was not able to loosen the bolt on rear drive shaft, even with a strike to it it won't move and heating is not the option thanks to the plastic cover of the diff. Probably too good glue!
So ordered second one and once it will arrive I can take it apart somehow and doesn't have to care about it to be reusable.
Anyway thank you once more for your videos, they're helping years after they were made!
Can you tell me where you got your Allen keys? (The one you used in the video) thanks
Great video! My gears all had the same mold casting rough edge and my large washer inside the carrier wash flattened as well. There supposed to be a type of bearing race washer. You could probably imagine how many a day these people assemble but still they shouldn't all be messed up, I can see a few here and there...
Hi Mike Fahner thank you for watching and your comment
It's a shame they fail on quality checks got the same Issueswhit the Front Diff
I do think this is simple you get what you pay for
Because this kit is super cheap compared to simmeler rc cars 😎
Hi, Thank you for your detailed video ... it really helped me a lot .... I wonder if this grease is safe on plastic ... Thanks
Yes, definitely
Hi can I get shorter drive shaft rods I want to shorten my diff same 1 as your 1 I need like 80mm rods I trimed the black case both sides to shorten it
good job on the tutorial, grease is so important. u can defenitly notice it on a boat ;)
Ye so tru and factory grease is never the quality you like it to be 🖒
Very good video, and information. Thank you. Can you please tell me what kind of grease you are using?
High-Quality bearing grease that can withstand -40 degrees celsius al the way up to +650 degrees
if your looking to make it really waterproof than check aquamarine grease
hope this helps you Mikael :D
Great video! Isn't the Feiyue FY03 the Vaterra Twin Hammers copy? If yes, why isn't the rear diff locked? :D
+Remote Addicted I think the twin hammer is a 1/10 Rc buggy that is more exspansive and there for come's with better parts than this 1/12 look a like still great car for the money and locking a diff is a easy upgrade to DIY
I liked it! Thanks for posting!!
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment appreciate it a lot Thx 🖒
Great job
thx mate :D
How To DIY Rc very welcome
I want this axel how much price bro
Nice tips, you really like Grease..👊
Maybe Little but approved by elektrunk.. 👊
it feels like you know me for a very long time hahaha
thanks, bud but tell how did you get an animated avatar?
I really like it approved by DIY Rc lol
I bought one of this its crawler rock or something like this for my son he break it from the first day changing tire and working on real car is easier for me than this I've disassembled diffrential many times but just when I press it inside the middle of diffrential to hit the wheel it's rotating on both sides but it's now working on one side when assembled that you turn me crazy it's a big headache but I think may be if I put grease it'll work smooth but which type is it normal grease for bearing or that which is used for cv joint for me your type is bearing grease ?
i'm using high temperature bearing grease hope this fix your issue
also check the screws inside the diff going to your axles if the screw is loose only one wheel spins
How To DIY Rc ok I've checked that and greased but still anyway I've read it's JBL chetah will this part on description fit my son car for now I'll try to lock the differential intill I find new one he just played few minutes then on changing tires included he ruin the differential I why it's so delicate it looks like a monster to me 👌
locking the diff always work and that way you can atleast drive the car :D
How To DIY Rc thanks a lot but is that differential in description fit my child car it's JBL chetah 4WD
I don't know your car Sir can't say for sure if it fits... sorry
Great vid!
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment thx :D
Please tell me the grease that you used ?
ballbearing grease high temprature
hi, how are called the two terminals at the end of the axle? the piece you are taking apart at the minute 0:18, are they available in aluminum for sale?
yes there are a few sites that only sell upgrades parts from wltoys but you have to search your self
Thanks, I actually have another model (
JJRC Q46) has a very similar axle, there is something wrong with the differential now I have 3-wheel drive, I ordered a metal differential but I had thought to reinforce everything with the aluminum terminals, but unfortunately I do not think they are available.
Mine both are not turning it became front wheel drive kind off do you know maybee what it has and makimg grrr
I'm sorry to hear that brother it sounds like your Spider gears teeth are worn out and need to be replaced... didn't find a place where you can buy just the spider gears
So it's best to get the spare part without the plastic case
links are down below.... make sure to do a maintenance check to expend the lifetime :D
Do you want any differential to go with that grease?
dont understand the qeustion the greaese is high temprature ball bearing grease
Does anyone gear the front diff, different than the rear? A little higher in the front (more speed) than the rear. This would help in many situations? help?
FEIYUE FY03 DIFF TO WLTOYS 12428?????
ITS WORKING?????
i searched a metal diff for feiyue fy03 but for wltoys 12428 same plastic diff
you find all the links down below indescription
4:00 never seen spider gears with 3 gears.
now you did lol :D
Can u do this for a rc car not truck
ye they are all so simmeler inside
Too much GREASE, A little will do, you will tear up the gears with that much grease, slow down operation, etc., my goodness!
it's also to make it waterproof that way we used so much :D
1,000 wt diff oil should be used not grease
no it leaks out only grease works
yeah yeah yeah, "use less grease" poeple say, guess what? replaced 4 rear diffs throughout 6 months already, then i tried filling it with grease as much as i could and the same diff holds to this day. iam not trusting anything in the comments anymore
