  • Here is my first "real" Aluminium milling work after few attempts to try to find correct settings.
    Video speed: 5x
As it's not a Huge CNC machine, I work with only 0,2mm passes. 3mm/3 flutes mill. 8000RPM. feedrate 900mm/sec 2,2kW water-cooled spindle. No coolant for this try and I think I will only use a blower in close future to evacuate chips.
I still have several points to improve in toolpath for a better workflow.

You can save a bit of time, and wasted movements when you interpolate the smaller holes within the larger ones by using rest machining.
Essentially, rather than having to ramp in the entire distance to the bottom of the large hole, using rest machining, you can rapid into the hole, and start ramping from just above the floor of the hole. This will reduce the time of the operation, as well as save you from unnecessary movements.
On larger projects, or projects with more operations, this can add up, and save you loads of time.
    :)

Normal instead of 5x speed although longer would give us a better idea of the actual machines capabilities, super fast makes it look good but is deceiving. maybe normal speed to start with then 5x would be more realistic

If it helps, i run mine at 1300mm/min with a 6mm single flute carbide at 15000rpm and 2mm depth of cut. Full width

if you go into settings on the video you can play it back at 0.25 of the speed. So while not exactly in real time it is a bit closer.

@@troyd-motorsport9933 How many kw on your spindle? I know your comment is 3 years old, lol. Maybe you're still around.

@@ProBangers hey man, yeah still around 😂
It's a 1.5kw spindle from a run of the mill 6040 CNC router off eBay, still going strong btw 👍

@@troyd-motorsport9933 Nice! That's the machine I'm planning on getting but I'm just trying to learn as much as I can before I even order it. Speeds, feeds, depth of cuts, step-over and endmill selection are all a little challenging to learn for a beginner like me. I've had CNC lasers for 6 or 7 years but that's a whole different world.

Where'd you get that vice from?

I had the same question. It looks pretty cool.

Hi, like Miguel below, I have the same machine and love it, although I originally bought it for doing prototype PCBs I use it to do just about everything apart from steel though I have done some 19" 1U steel front panels which I think is its limit. I'm also interested in where you got the vice from, I've been trying to find something low profile myself so would appreciate any info. Re setting up, I use GWizard speed & feeds, very useful and I got NC Plot which I use a lot. Keep learning the GCode.

How do u find the accuracy of the holes? I heard that the z axis gives a little play on the X axis movement?

Hi, nice video! I habe the same machine. Could you please tell me what kind of clamp you are using? Looks very nice and low profile!

I am also looking for a low profile vise for my CNC router, I think this is a similar one:

Thanks for info, i also have this kind of machine a i had no clue about feed rates (unable to find it anywhere). Went like 1mm passes and 10000 rpm with same mill with vertical ramp - that really didnt work well, im gonna to try your settings ;-)

Usually when you buy cutters the manufacturer prints the best speed and feed for the cutter or on a paper inside(depends on manufacturer)

Why 3 flute? I use one or 2 max with aluminum?

    • @petrusz1
      @petrusz1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      more flutes = more feedrate
