They did this tank so dirty. So many inaccuracies on Day 1 release. The reason the reverse speed is slower is because the Thai VT-4 manual has a mistranslation and says it only has 2 reverse gears. The Ch series transmissions all use the same 6 forward and 3 reverse configuration; the VT-4A1 uses the CH-1000B. The upper plate on the tank is bugged as well, doesn't ricochet like it should. It, and the other Chinese MBT's, are missing their spall liners. And most importantly, this tank is missing the extra ERA kit that would add FY-2 to the lower plate the side armor. But sure, Gaijin can only give Russia the very best model of tank while everybody else gets a specific version instead of the best possible loadout...

@@Gongolongo ZTZ96 always has access to DTC10 since it was designed to be compatible with all autoloader China uses. ZTZ99A actually has a redesigned autoloader that accept longer rounds, but it still uses DTC for logistics reasons. However, giving DTC to ZTZ96 would be OP.
I've played about 10-15 games in it so far and the APS has only been really useful in intercepting heli/drone missiles (although that's probably more to do with the fact that most people don't really seem to use ATGM carriers at top tier). Overall pretty cool vehicle, mobility isn't on par with the 1001 or 99A but still really respectable. My only real gripe with it is that the gun depression feels slightly worse than the 99A/1001 and that it currently lacks the option to mount FY-2SH ERA blocks on the sides. Other than that, solid all rounder and there could be more potential buffs on the way like a 6.7 sec reload for all 3 top tier Chinese MBTs. Great video as always Justin!
to be fair, the most prolific ATGM carriers are Russian and Chinese, and China and Russia are almost always teamed together. this thing'd have a more fitting niche if the TOW 2B was ever made even a fraction of what it used to be, since as of now, why would you bring an M3A3 to top tier when HSTV-L/other far superior alternatives exist?
@@sydney4814 even when matched against Russia, you'll rarely find anyone using the Khrizentema or the 125mm tube launched ATGMs, it's simply more efficient to use 3BM60 in most cases. Fortunately the APS seems decently effective against Vikhr spam so that's a +1 in my book.

Bushes on tanks look good, but I hate them. They only exist to exploit the fact that our brains tend to tell us to ignore bushes and, more importantly, to make it much harder to hit weak spots. These are making the life of newer less experienced players a misery. Oddbawlz share that opinion and I agree with him. For having struggled against Jumbos and Tiger IIs hiding weak spots with them myself, I think that they should be turned to be only visible to the owner and the teamates. The same should be done for large cosmetic items. They feel like some kind of soft cheating when used on vehicles with tiny weak spots that need accuracy to be hit.
They get an aps system on their tank so it’s something new to the nation and it performs well in most situations. Unlike the American sep that offers nothing new besides a risk two package that underperforms and the tank is even heavier 😂

Bushes look incredibly outdated and silly. As soon as I see a tank with a bush (especially at high tier) I just know you're an absolute goon. They need to replace them with better camouflage add-ons like netting or thermal cloaks. I'd pay for more customizable options like that. Also decals, we need more decals. For a developer that seems to be so incredibly money hungry they sure have very little in terms of purchasable customization options.
I just unlocked VT-4A1 and found something strange: it should perform worse than Type 99A and 1001 on paper, but I’m consistently doing better in my stock VT-4A1 than I am in half aced 1001. My engine was disabled and I had 3 Leopards and 1 Abram rush me in quick succession. I took them all down, my armored absorbed all of their shots with no damage. It could be that VT-4A1 is a new tank and they didn’t know where to shoot, because on paper, VT-4A1 should have considerably worse armor than 1001 and 99A.

(SORRY FOR COMMENTING AGAIN!!! but also "what do you think about bushes on tanks" IMO... they're probably the single-biggest pay-to-win element at the entirety of top tier as they're literally "pay $4 for each bush and you get a thermal shroud that completely masks your tank's heat signature"... it's just an obscene thing tbh, especially as even after they became "breakable", it still takes an HE shell or near miss from a bomb to actually dislodge them. (and they uniquely benefit Russian tanks as they're so small, you can have the entire from end of the tank (turret included) covered with 6 bushes, NATO tanks being about 40% larger means that you get so much more space to cover, which results in only being able to prioritize certain parts of your tank. IMO an pair of easy fixes would be get rid of them hiding thermal signature and have it just a visual detail/limit you to 2-4 and not six, and/or making it so blocking your gun sight actively blinds yourself... having your entire turret just a mass of bushes should actually do to your gunner sight what it does to your commander's sight.
It's just an MBT-2000 with APS and a slightly worse reverse gear, it's reverse speed should be -30 km/h since it has the same transmission, correct but -17 isn't bad, still gives you a fair chance to escape in a bad situation.
This is the chinese vehicle that disappoints me most, the cannon breech still does not get protected and hull armor is too weak. I reality it should have 600mm equivalent armor. Also dtc125 with 577mm penetration is not capable to penetrate leoparda7v and Swedish 122s. There should be some changes made to make this a "playable" vehicle at BR11.7

I will use bushes when gaijin add them properly bcz currently they are cardboard like, which i seriously dont like. I want them fully animated and physics added to them same with camouflage nets. Current camouflage net on pz btl leopard premium tank in germany is so static i dont like it. They need to add dynamics to bushes and camo nets so they feel more realistic like in battlefield games especially in 2042.
The reason the VT-4 has a worse transmission is because it uses a domestic power pack the Chinese built themselves, while the MBT-2000 uses the power pack and Transmission from the T-84, so while you lose some reverse speed, you get better torque and power
The VT-4 uses the same CH1000 transmission from the 99A - check the reverse speed on that... The Chinese upgraded and improved the transmission, and they certainly didn't give it half the reverse speed. The VT-4 and 99A share the same shifter, too. This is just them misconstruing the R1 and R2 gear positions on both. It's an idiotic bug they haven't fixed.

A lot of the B technologies went to updating A's though. Compared to in game, ZTZ-96 should have access to the DTC and probably more armor.
That's been a while but usually these upgs takes time to implement. That was in 2016 i think? So ztz96b might be the new standard now.

I will use bushes when gaijin add them properly bcz currently they are cardboard like, which i seriously dont like. I want them fully animated and physics added to them same with camouflage nets.
Current camouflage net on pz btl leopard premium tank in germany is so static i dont like it.
They need to add dynamics to bushes and camo nets so they feel more realistic like in battlefield games especially in 2042.

I mean not that specific version but the VT-4 has seen combat in Nigeria for what it's worth
The reason the VT-4 has a worse transmission is because it uses a domestic power pack the Chinese built themselves, while the MBT-2000 uses the power pack and Transmission from the T-84, so while you lose some reverse speed, you get better torque and power
The VT-4 uses the same CH1000 transmission from the 99A - check the reverse speed on that...
The Chinese upgraded and improved the transmission, and they certainly didn't give it half the reverse speed. The VT-4 and 99A share the same shifter, too. This is just them misconstruing the R1 and R2 gear positions on both. It's an idiotic bug they haven't fixed.
