UPDATE: The Model S was not low on charge during this drag race. The screen shown at 00:56 was shot later in the day after several drag races and test runs. It was shown in this clip to illustrate the fact someone had renamed the car, not to illustrate the level of charge during this particular race. The utmost care was taken to ensure the Model S had sufficient charge during its races. The race shown in this video is "as it happened". A second race between these two cars (and several others simultaneously) shot on the same day, will be published in December. -Rory
Blurring the video probably wasn't the best course of action. It makes it look deceptive. Look forward to seeing the second race. It might be worth doing the races over a timed 1/4m in the future and publish the times. Even if you let the races run out further past the 1/4m point it makes it easier for viewers to compare the vehicles on a level playing field.

The opposition to EVs is interesting, just imagine if the transition was the other way and the government was asking everyone to move to ICE.
Negitives:
- Up to 10 times more expensive propulsion cost
- Exhaust pollution
- ICE engine/exhaust noise
- You have to purposely go somewhere to fuel it
- Will cost more to maintain
- Less safe due engine block

@@nelsonthomas5743 Tesla sells right around 100 times more cars than Lambo so acrually 99% probably isnt far off. Either way model S isn't even trying to compete in the super car class. The new roadster will beat the lambo on the dragstrip, on the track, and still cost less while having all the other benefits of an electric drivetrain. Rip lambo

In the video they actually showed the Tesla having a 30% charge , Which would make the Tesla significantly slower. Also the Tesla model S plaid beat it anyway, Which will come out sooner than the Tesla roadster.

@@PlaidZoomer Yet Teslas lose over at so many of these videos because electric motors have garbage top ends against a DOHC motor that shines on the top end, they easily catch the car every time because they're only great at the launch, and a roll race would be way worse.

lol yeah i notice there can be different results based on the drivers and environment/traction. It did seem the Tesla driver braked way later for some reason in the 0-100-0 race. Not sure about the 0-60 times bring quoted right or maybe the state of charge of the tesla affected it's performance.

But my point still stands, they are racing a MUCH more expensive and MUCH lighter car against a family sedan, the fact that they are even doing this is a testament to the Tesla, also noting that Autotrader has not even posted the race times especially since every other independent race has the Tesla MUCH closer at the end and independent testing puts the EV at 0.2 seconds slower than the Lambo at less than 1/2 its price.
A much better race would be vehicles in the same price range and class.
Also the latest BMW M5 has a quarter mile of 10.9 seconds compared to Tesla's S Performance 10.2 seconds, both independent runs.
Last point is that the Tesla Model S is not even promoted as a sports car.

If you look online the quarter-mile on these cars is extremely close if not identical so something fishy is going on here. I'm not trying to be a salty Tesla fan, but this doesn't look like any other Tesla drag race results online.

They ran the battery down so it would lose. It shows 112 miles range available. That car comes with The car is rated for 360 miles of range.

@@weed46 lambos run faster on low fuel that’s what they do at drag strips for weight reduction. EVs run slower at low charge because cells from the battery packs are at a low state of charge and the car can’t draw as much energy from them. At that low charge the car probably lost 20-30% off it’s performance.

Just suck it up and recognize that 785hp EV lost to a 640hp ICE and what's even more humiliating is that the Performante only makes 490awhp on a dyno but the Model S puts down well over 700whp and makes it a zero RPM. This EV vs ICE rivalry can be perpetual, as companies can keep adding more power and lowering weight to counter the next fastest models being produced. It will never end! Still haven't seen an EV take on a TT Huracan making 3,500hp and win ever. I think a Plaid or this alleged upcoming Roadster may need more than 1,500hp to compete LOL
@@ELECTRICEYEMEDIA Sorry to be pedantic... but the Model S makes ZERO horsepower at zero rpm. Horsepower is distance over time. No distance (in this case, turning rollers) = no horsepower. What it does do is make peak torque at zero rpm.
Straight forward speed thrills for a split second before it gets old, it is cornering speed that wins races and determines who is a more capable driver and what is the better car.
As somebody who's experienced both... UK roads are not set up for racing these cars...
... but they are set up for short sprints.

I know this video is 2 years old but the new 2022 Tesla S Plaids destroy even the newest 2023 Lamborghini Huracan by a huge margin. 8.83 second 1.4 mile at 161mph. The 2023 Lambo only pulls 10.5 seconds at 132.7 mph.
Plaid is 1,100 WHP. Tune the Lambo to same HP and the Plaid is smoked.

Yeah, it's called not being fully charged. They ran it at a low % charge which decreases the amount of voltage going to the motor, which in turn would mean the performance is less.

Can we know the 1/4 times? Have watched dragraces of the TMS for years and loads with the huracan and it’s fast, but not that crazy fast.. the model s also has a tendesy of the back being dropped low when accelerating due to the powerfull induction motor, this didn’t seem to happen here at all.. The Only so called supercar which catches up after 150Km/h was, is the McLaren. Anything else get smoked from my Family Limousine . Let me remind you too that literally the only great thing about the Tesla is its performance, which is why people compare it to supercars which are similar in performance but are incomparably better in every other way (hence the increased price and worse practically)
Its not actually apples to apples comparison, sedan vs supercar, just sayin. But its about time an ICE supercar catches up to an 8 year old EV family car. And performance is not the “only” thing great about Tesla...EVs are more efficient, EVs have fewer parts = less prone to breakdown, over the air updates, batteries getting cheaper, autopilot etc. But I’ve seen this ICE vs EV discussion before. We can just agree to disagree.

Other than that the roadster is supposedly is going to have a 620 mile range which is more than any hyper car or sports car ive seen.

Both cars are interesting. It's the Lamborghini for me. As was said the major disadvantage of the Tesla is its weight in this test. I also feel they are soulless and they are really limited in how far they can go distance-wise.
Where are you planning to drive. The UK is 400 miles long and a Model S has 360 miles of range. Sure a petrol engine will do 100 miles more, but what's the use case?
