LOL, these guys ignore the fact that they raced the Tesla with a low battery, then when they got caught, blurred out the screen that proves it, then clearly mention how butthurt they are about it in this video, and on top of that, they copyright strike other channel calling them out on it. This isn't making them look good, and certainly not making them any more credible.
But the other cars can perform on low fuel and the Taycan is also just as quick with lower battery power. None of the other cars would be afforded the luxury of running at their small optimal window. If you want Tesla to win then they need to up their game and make the Model S fast in all conditions and not just in a small optimal window of a full, warm battery and one run a day. The other cars here can do it, why can't the Tesla?

This has nothing to do with fanboys, it has to do with being transparent and you weren’t so then you turn the wheel and blame us fanboys! I know Tesla still has a away and they are far from perfect but all Tesla’s are the best in there categories, price , performance and spec!
@@jackahorey2354 If you want to really know which car performs the best, you’ll put the best tires, remove all unnecessary weight, have an almost empty fuel tank on an ICE and a full battery on an EV, and use the launch control systems, if any.
Not doing so, or choosing to do it on some cars and not on others is fudging results, and not having integrity. Reacting the way they did just prooves them being biased, instead of owning their mistakes. At this point, no one believes it was a mistake because of their reaction of bluring out the low battery, and copyright striking other channel commenting on that.

@@timduncan9696 Model S had 30% battery power during the race. When Auto trader was called out they simply blurred out the screen. The quarter mile number are off when you compare times against other TH-cam channels.

William Arrington ever had a remote control car back in the day? If the remote or the car was low on battery you could clearly tell by the speed of the car. I'm guessing it's the same concept. Also with phones, there's no physical movement so there's no clear reference to speed. I'm sure it slows down, but the computations on a modern phone are so incredibly quick that even when they slow down they're still fast enough for us to not notice a difference. Anyways, Autotrader should've been more transparent.
@William Arrington the EV's will be around half of a second slower at the 1/4 mile with 30% battery. It sounds like you should do a little bit more research.

I don't get why anyone has any issue with this video. It doesn't matter whether the Tesla wins, the fact it's even included in this comparison is a huge win for Tesla given it's a family car that's something like a sixth of the price of the winner. It's a compliment to Tesla from AT that they included it the comparison (and mentioned it's their car of the year), not an insult that it didn't win. Let's get real, this is not a scientific study, it's not even held up as a scientific study, it's a bunch of enthusiasts messing about - they even specify the Huracan won *this* race on *this* day. There's more than enough qualifiers from AT, and they shouldn't even need to give *any* given it would be ludicrous to take such a casual video as gospel. Hint, youtube is not a peer reviewed journal. And even if we wanted to get robust about it - a scientific study would have to do comparisons at different fuel / charge loads because (a) it affects the ICE and EV in the opposite sense, and (b) real world use means not everyone is always driving with a full tank and/or on full charge. But they didn't do this, because it's just a fun casual video. Complaining about this video is saying a whole lot more about the complainer than it is about the makers of the video.
Copyright striking hardworking youtubers like Sam Alexander to save face.. honestly sad. Maybe consider taking responsibility for mistakes instead of trying to cover them up.

Why are you copy striking content creators who use your footage CLEARLY within fair use, as they provide COMMENTARY and CRITICISM which substantially transforms the original footage? Sam clearly exposed that the whole race was rigged against the Tesla Car. AutoTrader does not get any money from Tesla but from all the others they do. So AutoTrader tried to make their customer car look good against Tesla EV car. While the "paid by big oil" argument is nonsense of course, you made an editing mistake in the Lambo vs Model S video and you handled it, let's say, poorly. Be professional about it and show some more transparency when doing these tests.
If you want to make a point that the Tesla Model S performs much less at lower state of charge, than that is a fair point. Porsche handles this better it would appear, but again, be transparent about it.

I don’t think many “Tesla Fanboys” will call BS when you actually show it’s charge is above the ~30% was it last time? I know you say that was at the end of the day. But plenty journalists have been getting it wrong in the past. Including a win for a Taycan, and saying it was quicker to 60, when their drag race had the Taycan visible in the Tesla’s interior rear view mirror. So yeah, clarity and continuity matters here.
To be fair this is a Taycan 4s in this race which is actually slower than model 3 performance. But the Taycan turbo s are about .1 sec faster than model s in a quarter-mile race on paper.
Anyone participating on this strike against Auto traders unfair use of copyright, unsubscribe to Auto Trader and subscribe to Sam to help him out.

The Lambo may gain 0.1 sec in the 1/4mi with less gas in the tank, but the Tesla could be a full second or more slower with low charge and not being launched properly. When you are racing against a car that costs 3+ times as much, you should get every advantage possible to compete fairly. Not disadvantages.

What's up with copy striking Sam Alexander's channel for using 48s of your video? He was responding to your statement about people recently criticizing you for not being transparent with how you handled a drag race between Tesla and Lambo and now you copy strike him for it? Don't you know copy striking is the worst thing you can do to a TH-cam channel? Not only he loses monetisation and now his videos are not recommended by TH-cam but also 3 strikes and they delete your whole channel. Don't you know it? You don't copy strike people because someone used a portion of your video which he responds to. What's the ef with that?
Maaaybe use Taycan Turbo S next time? The 4s is the slowest of all Taycan models

With out launch control it won’t fair well, launch control is everything especially in a 1/4 mile, just no time to recover , done a few V Max events in the U.K. in my 600 LT, the guy in the 540c should have been in the top 3 😩

With a competent driver, it'd have done far better but would have still been significantly off the pace. The coupe is an 11 second 1/4 mile car which doesn't really tell the full story of how fast it is.
The DBS is an autobahn car, not a drag car like the Tesla, Taycan or Huracan. It struggles to do 0-60 mph in much under 4 seconds due traction issues as a result of all the torque. However, above 60 mph the DBS is utterly brutal. It does 0-125 mph in 10 seconds, 0-150 mph in 15.45 seconds and 0-186 mph in 25.1 seconds.
It'd do far better in a 1/2 mile or a standing mile race.
Can’t wait for the Plaid+ to be included in this. Will be interesting.

It'll just smoke the others. They didn't even use the Plaid model, they used the slower Performance model. It's a way to manipulate people into thinking that gas powered cars are still better than electric.

DBS and Mclaren didn't even bother to turn up. What this video teaches me is that driving skill is way more important then having the most powerful car.
Meanwhile in the real world Tesla stock at $700+ with a market cap bigger than most of the top ICE manufacturers combined. Then you realize that no amount of unfair comparisons can stop Tesla.
let's hope they spend some of the cash on build quality and getting panels to align as a starting point

The only honest statement the Autotrader host made was “A 5 car drag race totally unplanned, totally unscientific”. Racing a TSLA with its battery less than 30% shows a lack of understanding of EV power mgmt, or knowing that it will try to conserve battery life by reducing performance, just as your smartphone does. I’d rather see all the cars with a full gas tank & tsla with a full battery, not the unscientific biased portrayal Autotrader does.
Referring to Tesla owners or fans who favour progressive tech with the derogatory term “fanboys” implies these people don’t know their torque from AutoTrader’s talk! But we can agree on one thing in the presenter’s own words - Autotrader’s race is unscientific! BTW I watched Sam Alexander’s vid after the comments here, and Sam is way better value. Racing an ICE car with a full petrol tank would show a lack of understanding of ICE cars and would be very unscientific and biased.

the Tesla performing that well as a SEDAN that really hasn’t been updated in a while speaks volumes to the engineering of electric cars. When the Model S Plaid & Roadster 2 come out these expensive super and hyper cars are going to look look even more silly when they continue to be outperformed by marginally cheaper electric vehicles

Instead of cryptically saying "enough state of charge", just say what the state of charge was. Yes, I realize this was a "spontaneous" race and your channel is only for entertainment purposes , but the overlaid post commentary could have a few facts sprinkled in. I would imagine all the data can be retrieved from logs or internal cameras.

It's crazy that the second and third place Tesla Model S and Taycan is so much cheaper than any of the other cars. Any old office working dude can get a Model S or Taycan, while all the other cars are extremely expensive and out of reach for a vast majority of people.
