Don't even have Blender installed, but you are inspiring me to start on this 3D modelling as a hobby. Love how short and precise your tut is. Thanks x
ian hubert style is always fun!
Love it!
Lovely tutorial and technique. Thanks a lot!
So efficient. Thank you for sharing!
Hi Amelia cool video, i sincerely don't get the hate you received in the comment, images are a pain in the a to find, amd most sites require a monthly subscription for shaitty pictures of building, so more pawoer to ai. What intrigue me is the possibility of generating maps fro trim sheets or materials, that would be a game changer. Something like complex ornaments is really tricky and exhausting to model from a topology perspective. Making kit bashing ans trim using AI would be beautiful. That said, good work, have fun (i just subscribed to your channel).
This is such a useful workflow! It blows my mind how simple this is and the result looks fatnastic. Great way to make different assets to populate your scenes with. Thank you so much for sharing this with us
Glad you like it!
this is awesome!
Amazing videos! Subbed!
love love love!! I've made a few slum apartments using this technique and it is so satisfying.
That’s awesome!
Upload it bruh, more examples, more inspirations 😊
Thank you so much!!
🙏🙏🙏
Thanks for sharing!
Have been using a ton of midjourney textures for surfaces and making textured brushes but hadn't considered this way of modeling from the image. Thanks for the concise and zero-fluff tutorial. ✅
That’s an awesome use of ai!
Thank you .
🙌
great topic, thanks 👍
Ty!🙏
Great video!
Thank you!
SUUUUUPPPPPEEEEERRRRRR 😍😍😍😍 thanks a lot
Another work flow for blender scene elment as gray box to stablediffusion img2img creation then image as plane like this. Or you can go even further and get depth map from stablediffusion then have 3d in blender then stick your image on it. Then its 3d with out the cut and extrude jobs.
cool...!
thats great, how you maintain same lighting texture on each buildings
Good question! You can add “overcast daylight” to get a diffused shadow and I’ve found if you use the same chat for all the buildings it will maintain a similar style. You can also add a reference image for consistency.
WOW Cool))) Grazie))
Glad you enjoyed 🤘
This makes the modeling so much simpler great tutorial
🙏
But you will still take all the credit and charge the same price for your work?
@@jvon3885 they prob will 🤣i would never
Have you considered making the rough model first, then using a depth matte + control net to create the building front in SDXL? Might give you more control over the final design. Have had some success in the past with SD 1.5 + Normal map + Depth map + Edge detection on line render. Let’s you pretty much control the final shape and just make the texture to project back on.
Wow that’s an awesome idea- I tried making a depth map with dalle and failed spectacularly
@@Scarlett_vfx I think blender should have a way to export the depth map of a render. If you are looking to create one from an image, search “midas depth map replicate demo”, might be fun to try that with the facade then build out from there . I just tried a couple prompts in Dalle for depth maps, and it really loves giving me perspective views, no matter what strange voodoo prompt engineering I try. Pretty, but not useful. I think in the past I’ve got on midjourney to /sorta/ work with making them, but honestly, best way is a model made for it.
@@CompleteGodel depth anything, much more clear.
I love this. The problem I have always had with projected images is the stuff in the foreground gets flattened to the wall or floor. maybe I would ask the AI to omit those details so I could add them in as separate meshes. great tute. sub'd
That’s a great idea- I’m going to have to try it!
How you cropping the white out of the image without it stretching? I have to use loop cuts. Nevermind, forgot I had to put checkmark in the Tool/Options/Transform/Correct Face Attributes checkbox.
Good point- probably should have highlighted that…
i add: this way to build 3d models its very relaxing :) a loop here and a loop there and you have a beautiful result
Relaxing to make too! ❤️
That method is the best!!
🙏
🔥👍
You can utilize google street view as well... Also try texture ripper tool to extract texture out of any image.
I did a tutorial a few years ago using google street view, and I love the texture ripper idea I’ll have to look into it!
Dont know how I found this tutorial, but great video
Glad you liked it!
A W E S O M E!!!!!!!
Just saw this on Instagram, I love it. Genius idea, and so very cool! Well done! 👏
oh hey, Charla! 😅🖐
👍👍👍
When I try to extrude my plain as you did, my image doesn't stay in place at the front, it extrude backwards sticking to the back face, any idea why it's going wrong for mine? Really want to follow along exactly as this is an excellent video!
This has happened to me before- make sure the alpha node is not connected and if that doesn’t work try copying the nodes into a new blank material. Hope that helps!
@@Scarlett_vfx Thank you very much!
how do you use edge selection to crop the image
Import image as plane. It is an add-on you can enable in preferences.
Very useful, thank you!
short and to the point
🙌🙌🙌
could you do a second try this time without the evil big corp and use local ai installed ?
cant see which keys u are pressing kinda hard as a beginner
Beautiful well done ^^
Great method! Defintely going to be using this. Liked. Thanks!
Awesome 👏 love to hear it!
Do u think this can pass in steam?
I bumped into you by accident, you're doing great
Thank you so much!
What about shadows?
Same as using a photo image you won’t be able to get rid of them entirely, but you can ask ai to generate the image with overcast daylight to get the softest shadows
Awesome tips! It'd be nice to know if you included few more steps for side views with different AI generated images rather than all mirrored around
I’m still playing around with that - best way I’ve found so far is to use the front facing image as the “seed” for a side facing image. I also tried putting in a reference image with a front and side view but it was still a little wonky - I’ll try to make another video showing that process
@@Scarlett_vfx interesting!! Thank you very much. it was a lot of fun to watch and a lot to learn
GLAD WE FOUND YOU! really underrated, hope your channel grows fast!
@Amelia I❤U, Just heading to learn blender couple of days, I had to gave up, then your video😅 I'll learn with this way tutorial for what I need ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Amazing! ❤️
@:58 how do you do that??????
I’m using edge selection to move the edges, make sure you have “correct face attributes” selected in edit mode or else it will squish the image
WAIT. THATS IT? it's that easy?
That's an old school workflow but using AI
Dont listen to some of these hater comments, you did good. Thanks for the video!
Much appreciated ❤️
Cool video, have you tried Substance sampler for making materials out of images? I assume you could convert the image to a 3D mesh since Sampler gives you a height map.
I haven’t yet but now I’m gonna check it out!
Bit misleading title, you aren't doing anything new with this technique, Ian Hubert did this with real images and many other 3D artists before years ago with blender. besides generating an image with Ai what detail is the AI actually doing? Other than a simple jpeg? Seems lackluster
Usually I build using images I find online but it’s hard to find a front facing image of exactly what I want, AI just helps me create a base image closer to what I have in my head
@@Scarlett_vfxtrue your title implies that "Ai is somehow adding the details" but in actuality you are overlaying a jpeg on a model. Its no longer Ai after that stage, which is why your title appears to be misleading?. Your title should read something like "how to use AI image textures for Models in blender " anyways it's a great tutorial nonetheless for those who aren't familiar with this old technique. you have a good channel and im following you!. just the title is not right in this case. And several viewers seem to agree?? Food for thought.
@@soundsoflife8885 not a hate comment but yes i agree with this. the title is somewhat misleading, which even got me misunderstanding the video.. i thought u meant to use AI to add more detail to an existing model you own, but anyways, great video!! tysm for this its very helpful
@@Scarlett_vfx Photobashing, or build a set of objects out of a bunch of different textures and images to put together whatever buildings you want, without this dumb middleman. You do not need AI for this.
Tough crowd geez....the details are given by ai its just that you guys expected something newer as most ai videos are the newest features. But i think she made a pretty good and straight to the point video. Yes ive seen this before but lots of videos are similar info. Its about how she presented it and she didnt c ut corners but also didnt drag us on for view time. I respect it. Plus shes much nicer to look at than ian hubert lol..sorry ian.....but one thing she could do is show her face more..its nice
"Elesn p e"? Christ, I hope you're not using these for closeup shots.
I hope you will be having as much fun when people start generating textured geometry in AI in a few months, skipping your work altogether.
If you’re afraid of that then maybe you’re not so good with your skills…
Can humans ever just not take the easy way? I swear all you AI fanatics want is the laziness that comes with this. So yeah, if you take a pay cut and less credit, then fine. But im tired of already seeing my workload cut in half because of AI. But again, you don't care because it's new and cool.
How lazy can this be if she's still doing an entire 3D model. Get real lol.
No you are not adding details.
You are adding image textures. No need or point in any ai, been done for ever with real images. Further your end building is a useless same front on all four sides.
The pleasure is in making not faking.
Cheater.
This is clickbait.
It has nothing to do with AI whatsoever.
This is about taking a 2d image, performing loop cuts, and then extruding the cuts for a 3d image.
AI was 'used' to generate the image, but you can grab an image from anywhere.
This technique is really one of the oldest.
The method still hasn’t matured.. gone further. Building a neighborhood is still impossible.
3d modelers are gonna start coming out as half-baked if they start relying on AI and not putting in any real work
can't wait to see the industry become so incompetent that they actually just let the AI take over 😂
click bait title ! shame on you ! no AI is used here, lol ! using a texture is as old as 3d itself... tssss.
Great video!
