I had a crate LS-6 (XXA Code) In like 88. It was in a 79 Malibu with a quick change rear. I'm in to dirt cars. We drove it to Pennsboro WV. from Chicago. Used it pretty well every day as well. Engine was always fine. I checked lash a few times, it was always ok. Years ago I had a 350 with a 30/30 cam. Lash was always fine on it too...or really close. Also a 12.5-1 355 Nova. Solids in it too. All street cars used daily and weekends too. Frankly Ive never understood what they talk about lash "going away". The 355 was the only one with polylocs. Go ahead ..... tell me I'm crazy ......but, I lived it.

Dang Tom, sounds like you’re the guy to talk to!
Where did you get the engine hoist? Do you like it?
The cherry picker? From harbor freight! It is not the nicest unit, but it sure does the job!
I would put it back in and go from there.
I like that the best!
Cool your engine builder is busy but sucks for you of course.
It is what it is, that’s the world we live in right now!
